Meanwhile, investors and advisors alike continue the debate regarding how to evaluate the opportunities that new media will bring to the gaming sector. Legalized gaming has nearly tripled in size since 1995, from $6.4 billion in gaming win to about $15.1 billion (2010) according to the most recent economic impact study released by the Canadian Gaming Association. With total industry revenues of $16 billion, the industry now exceeds the combined revenues generated by magazine and book sales, social establishments, spectator sports, movie theatres and the performing arts.

The true origins of modern Baccarat are probably lost to history. The first time the game Baccarat (spelled Baccara) was mentioned in print by a contemporary observer was in the early 19th century. The written record that would document the origins and evolution of the game is, unfortunately, incomplete. However, a close examination of the available material reveals some interesting facts surrounding the history of Baccarat, including a much earlier date for its arrival in the United States and Canada, that validates its continuing study.
During the 2010 Canadian Gaming Summit, Ipsos-Reid presented the results of a recent public opinion survey on Canadian’s attitudes and opinions towards Internet gambling. With Canadians currently spending close to a billion dollars online this research explores current online gamblers thoughts on the products and providers they use and the coming online offerings of Canadian lottery corporations.
