     millie slits her eyes so they’re all pupil and matted eyelash, lifts her chin a little. no doubt the barbs sting, even when they’re the least important matter right now. they’ve met twice, but this much can be concluded: he knows where it hurts.

     but what happened and what she looks like – does not matter. she knows who she is, who she must be; and if she must be the person that sticks a blade seven inches into his eye-socket to teach him a lesson, then that is the person she will become.

     not one to waste words, her reply is as concise as it is low, which conceals the anticipatory tremor. “ come a little closer, then. ”

He stays back however, though his circling only slows a tad (     she looks too quick to underestimate, something FERAL about her     ) .

Harry doesn’t pull, it’s rude to - although he was sure he could dislodge both gifts from the boy within seconds, but Harry waited until they were given up willingly and placed them onto the side lightly. “Of course, my dear boy.” He hummed low, arms wrapping around Teddy as though it were second nature. 

Teddy was volatile, Harry had learnt that - which is why he was hesitant momentarily until worry melted away - only for it to return seconds later as he froze into his arms and it wasn’t until Teddy spoke up again that Harry laughed.

 “I didn’t expect anything in return, Teddy.” He spoke fondly, taking it upon himself to ruffle the boys hair. “I did it because I wanted to. No need for anything in return.” 

N O NEED FOR ANYTHING IN RETURN ? He doesn’t believe that, not one bit, and granted Harry’s been in this world longer than him, but he KNOWS that no one does anything for free, KNOWS that the world doesn’t work that way .

“ Even GOD expects things in return … “ He mumbles, staring up at Harry but he looks as if the man isn’t there, staring RIGHT THROUGH him . Maybe he can see God . Maybe he can see Harry already GONE (     dead, or he’ll leave him eventually     ) . Maybe he can see SOMETHING ELSE .

But suddenly he snaps back, smiles up at the man, hand raising to caress his face, “ Still, I’m not a COMPLETE waste of space - “ and he raises his brows, that mischievous expression on his face once more .

“ Wearin’ somefin’ I think you’ll appreciate, love … “

He didn’t expect to get a reply from the person he had smelt and although he was only joking about the car, seeing as it would be pointless for him to try and drive one without crashing, the way the other spoke about it intrigued him. “Mate, it’s not my car.” He folded his arms across his chest. “And by the sounds of it, it ain’t yours either. What you planning on doing with it? Sell it? Wreck it?”

F U C K , is the first thing he thinks . FUCK, because HOW could Teddy be so much of an MUG to let that one slip so easily ? He clenches and unclenches his jaw, curses himself for being so FUCKING STUPID .

“ None of your BUSINESS, innit ? “ He spits out, as if it is the stranger that caused the problem (     and as he focusses on him he can’t help but look him over, a strange mix of sizing him up and checking him out     ) .

“ If it ain’ your car, you don’ have to worry, ay darlin’ ? “ He says, almost sweetly . There’s a pause as he shifts on his feet, before he clears his throat, voice quiet .

“ How come you said it was yours ? Tryin’ to give me a heart attack ? “
