KWANGMIN:
His stand-off behavior was starting to get to him, yes it was early in the morning and the stress of this situation wasn’t letting up despite a break between the missions. Maybe for this mission he should just go solo. Siheon had a team and a plan before this talk, so he could handle his own. Kwangmin was blindsided by the other’s cold nature, out of everyone he trusted him the most. Sure they had their arguments but was either of them really at fault!? It almost didn’t make sense how they beat the last mission. He didn’t bring up the fact everyone had to make a campaign poster regardless of the vote. Maybe Gantz was trying to see something. “That’s sound reasoning, but he’s better off alive…or close to it than dead.” he spoke, “Well rally the students to vote for him then with your experience. I can’t speak for everyone but most of the players I saw stayed in this building. What they were doing I can’t say.” The older man felt Siheon wasn’t trusting him but for the sake of peace he didn’t bring it up. He didn’t have time to dwell on it either because right now the focus should be on the mission at hand. “Let’s aim to have Taewoo as president by dinner. Who’s to stay the clock won’t freeze again.” He didn’t wait for the other to reply or even agree to it. Seemed like he wasn’t much in the mood to talk anyways. Kwangmin walked towards him, he was blocking the door anyways. There was a brief pause like he should say SOMETHING but didn’t and left.
although he shies away as kwangmin nears him, siheon lets the other man leave in silence, letting out a heavy breath as soon as the door closes behind him.
what a colossal waste of his time. he’s all worked up now, and for what? for kwangmin to tell him to do something he’s already doing? he rolls his eyes, checking his reflection in the mirror, mostly to give kwangmin time to head away from the bathroom before siheon exits, but also because he’s got work to do after this, if he intends to get taewoo elected.
heading back to the cafeteria, siheon spares his previously abandoned table a quick glance, but it seems like taewoo’s left joel alone for now. no matter, he’ll be able to catch up with them come their classes. in the meantime, he heads for the man who’d been such a thorn in his and kwangmin’s side during the first mission, figuring it best to take out the main competition before he started swaying the voters’ opinions.
“hi, do you mind if i sit? i think we got off on the wrong foot.”
KWANGMIN:
Siheon was right, but the looming doom didn’t seem to smother him like it did Kwangmin. Honestly was it fair to shift the responsibility or at least the expectation for him to be the leader when he was working under the same circumstances as everyone else. He could’ve just left everyone to fend for themselves because he had enough (of something) within him to pull through this and survive. The person he was with now proved the same was true for them. They were the best shot for everyone’s survival… “Babes? You really want people to think we’re dating?” he asked on impulse then shook his head, “Nevermind, before school spirit no. The floor is split with a lounge in the middle, classroom on one side and a lab/kitchen on the other. We stayed in groups of two and cleaned.” He was curious to know if they did find anything, “If that’s the case then we really are alone, did you find anything there? Though he might have a death wish, we shouldn’t provoke him into dying. Gantz said that was a place you didn’t want to go.” Kwangmin did have some trust in Gantz since they knew more than everyone but seemed unreliable given the last mission. They seem to give enough warnings on some dangers to avoid but if not listened then the result was on you. He was thrown off by the kids comment but didn’t let it show, “The class president idea might work, they do have the power to stop the bullies but it shouldn’t be a rigged. I can campaign but whoever wins the 1st goal is to stop the bullies.” He reasoned to the other as he paced back and forth. “Wait a minute remember that cat!? Did you seen them in the building?” With everything going on Kwangmin nearly forgot about, besides the players and the bullies, the cat was the only other living thing at the school.
pursing his lips, siheon folds his arms over his chest, posture becoming defensive and closed off. “sorry, kwangmin-ssi.” for a respectful honourific, he sure spat it with as much venom as he could muster. “i didn’t realise that me using a dumb nickname during our secret bathroom rendezvous would give people the wrong idea. how silly of me.” as if anyone besides joel gave enough of a shit to even notice or care, but hey, if the thought was that off-putting to the other... sure.
“gantz said that we shouldn’t want to go, which is exactly why we need to send someone. i didn’t get a chance to ask him about it, but i’m sure he won’t say no.” even if siheon has to demean himself by giving in to joel’s desire to be called oppa to do it. he’s hopeful that taewoo will make it happen before he has to.
he does, however, dodge the question about what he and taewoo had found, instead taking one last drag off his vape before putting it away again. “we shouldn’t split the vote. there’s no reason for any of us to campaign against taewoo, that just makes things unnecessarily complicated.” especially kwangmin, who already has a rapport with some of these players. “that’s why i’m not going to run, even though i literally already know how to be class president.”
it’s becoming a weird trend that someone asks siheon about something he didn’t even see because he had been otherwise occupied, as the cat had been around presumably whenever joel had siheon distracted, given that taewoo and kwangmin had both seen it, and siheon had not. “we didn’t see anyone, no. not even other players, it was a ghost town over there.”
KWANGMIN:
if there was anyone that Kwangmin trusted it was Siheon. sure they had heated moments but when it really mattered they could put their egos aside to get the job done. The older was aware most of the other players looked to him as the leader... though it was something he didn’t want. However it was for the betterment of everyone there was someone who could lead because truth be told the last mission would’ve had more deaths for not him and Siheon. He did ignore the guy’s tease about him being Siheon’s boyfriend. They didn’t know each other like THAT. This was not the situation for romance anyways.
Even with no teachers around the hallway would’ve been a good choice but still who was to say someone wasn’t lurking around the corner? Kwangmin motioned to a nearby bathroom. it was the most private without going to a random classroom. It was best to not push luck too far since the schedule was to be followed. Still the fact Siheon was thinking about blindspots was a sign he was aware of his surroundings. Once inside the bathroom, he checked each stall to make sure they were truly alone.
“I don’t think this is an easy mission… it’s just a gut feeling.” Kwangmin started, “I had this feeling before I got really screwed over and never felt that way again until now. There’s more going on here than we’re seeing. I didn’t want to say it in front of everyone because it could start a panic. I don’t know what you did for school spirit, but 4th year watched this propaganda video about how this school is so great but all that praise felt like a cover up… ” he paused taking a bite of the apple, “Think about it, which school didn’t have issues with bullying and sometimes it was crazy shit. A school president is missing and we have those bullies still here. Something isn’t adding up.”
as they head into the hallway, and then into the bathroom, siheon uses the moment to try to figure out what it is about kwangmin’s name that had sounded so familiar. he’s sure he doesn’t know the man outside of the context of gantz - he’d be hard-pressed to forget meeting someone like kwangmin - but he’s seen that name somewhere before...
while kwangmin is checking the stalls, siheon decides to use his vape quickly, having not done so in a few hours. as he rummages through his bag, however, his hand brushes the tablet, and the lightbulb over his head goes off.
that weird distorted text on the bestiary... and now he’s alone in a secluded location with him. great! real fuckin’ smart, siheon.
staying closer to the door, siheon tries to look casual, leaning against the wall and taking a drag from his vape, holding it in his chest until it starts to burn in the hopes that will help calm his frayed nerves. he’s not sure why kwangmin would be considered one of the enemies in the eyes of the game, but he doesn’t want to find out, either. playing with his tongue ring absently, siheon considers kwangmin’s revelation - though it’s a stretch to call it as much.
“babes, i thought it was obvious that something bigger was at play here? this whole place is like, textbook wolf in sheep’s clothing. we’ve been here for hours, and nothing’s happened yet. hell, taewoo and i broke into the administration building, and literally no one noticed.” he wrinkles his nose as kwangmin eats, a knee-jerk reaction more than anything else. “we’re gonna see if joel’s down to go check out detention, since he seems like he has a death wish, and i’m gonna help taewoo get elected to class president, but that’s the only plans we’ve made so far.” pushing off the wall, siheon takes another drag from his vape, as defiant as he dares, given the circumstances. “not bad for kids, huh?”
it honestly takes him a moment to decide whether or not he should bring up the tablet - the information about the bullies might be helpful for kwangmin to know, but scroll too far down... well, siheon just has to hope he can run faster than kwangmin can, if it all goes south.
he decides to see what kwangmin already knows, instead. “did you find anything before school spirit?”
KWANGMIN:
Part of him hoped he was wrong, but his gut feeling did not allow denial to win. They had to end this mission before things took a turn for the worse. This was psychological to get them comfortable then attack. It was hard for him to explain but it reminded him very much of a military exercise…
After a combat simulation, the squad “took it easy”, sure they had quality checks, classes, and the like, but for weeks there was no intense training until there was. Kwangmin remembered feeling off like he had better double check he had everything in order. His concern fell on deaf ears until 03:00m when they were woken up to the screaming command of their superior. It was disorientating and chaotic but that was just the start of it. The comfort they had fallen into dulled their readiness, affecting their ability to function. Needless to say, the squad failed that exercise, taking it as a lesson to always be ready.
There was a slight ringing in his ear from the announcement that it was breakfast time. Kwangmin assumed all the students wouldn’t pass the opportunity to eat, so he zoomed to the cafeteria. Grabbing a single apple, he scanned the place to look for Siheon, finding at a table with 2 others. From the look of the interactions, they all seem to have bonded. They were in the same class, right!? Kwangmin approached the table looking at the 3 of them. The one sitting next to Siheon looked vaguely familiar but not enough to recall his name or where they had seen each other. The perv er other guy that sat across from them was very animated. He had reservations about him seeing him be playful more than anything else.
“We need to talk... privately” he poked at the moment to Siheon then noticed the tablet. Where did he get that? Surely not from his bag, because they should all have 1 then.
looking up as someone approaches the table, siheon blinks in surprise at kwangmin’s sudden arrival. after the... rocky start they’d had in the last mission, kwangmin’s unwarranted comment about him being some dumb kid still smarting, he hadn’t honestly expected to see the other again until absolutely necessary. then again, it was inevitable that kwangmin would seek him out again, or the other way around, despite whatever had happened in the maze, given that they both seemed to be some of the only ones capable of stringing thoughts together around here.
oh, shit, wait-! realising his opportunity, siheon’s gaze slides down to the name tag each of them were wearing as a part of the uniform, finally solving a mystery fifteen hours in the making.
shin kwangmin. why does that sound...
brow furrowing in confusion, siheon looks back up to kwangmin’s face instead, filing that away for later in favour of trying to figure out what could possibly be so urgent. “right now?”
beside him, joel scoffs, but as soon as he opens his mouth to make what siheon is sure is about to be a smartass comment referring back to their conversation before the mission had started, siheon elbows him, hard. “i didn’t even say anything!” joel protests, whining at siheon.
“you didn’t have to.” siheon shrugs. “try not to eat taewoo or anything while i’m gone, yeah? we still need him.”
“yeah, yeah.” joel waves siheon off as the other rises from the table, gathering the tablet and putting it back in his bag. he hadn’t been eating, or anything, so it was relatively easy to abandon the other two at the table, not missing joel sliding into his abandoned seat to sit beside taewoo instead as soon as he does. poor guy.
“have fun with your boyfr-ow!” joel pouts, rubbing the back of his head, where siheon had smacked him. “you should talk to someone about your anger issues, you know that, honey?”
siheon ignores him other than rolling his eyes, gesturing for kwangmin to follow him back out into the hallway outside the cafeteria. “how private is private? i don’t think anyone’s listening out here, but we can head down that way, if you want?” he gestures back towards the stairs, out of earshot of any prying ears from the cafeteria.

“i’m gonna like, hurl. how can you eat that?” siheon makes a pained expression, watching joel eat the... whatever that is that they’re trying to pass off as breakfast.
the other merely shrugs, not even bothering to swallow before speaking. “you’d like it, i think. it’s seafood.”
“seafood, what- ew!” siheon recoils away from joel, leaning towards taewoo - behind him as he faces the other - a little scandalised, but mostly disgusted, as the other sticks his tongue out at him.
“see? food.” joel laughs, not deterred in the slightest as siheon hits him in the chest, any impact there might’ve been - which probably isn’t a lot, he’s relatively sure, given how tiny they are - dulled by the suit anyway.
“what are you, twelve? that’s so gross, joel.” siheon laughs, despite himself, incredulous this is even the situation he’s found him in. “you’re going to make me a practicing christian again, you know that? i’m going to go back to church just so i can pray for someone to save me from having to deal with you.”
“aw, honey, don’t be like that.” the nickname falls casually from the other despite the fact that they hardly know each other, making siheon roll his eyes, glancing towards taewoo briefly, as if to ask ‘are you hearing him?’.
“don’t honey me, i should take taewoo and go sit somewhere else, leave you here by yourself.”
“but you wooon’t~! ‘cause you like me too much.”
“more like i wouldn’t be able to get rid of you." siheon scoffs, turning his attention back to the tablet they’d pilfered from the administration building, even if he’s distracted a moment later to add- “you know, we’ve only known each other for a few hours.”
“so? you’ve only known taewoo and what’s-his-fuck for a few hours too. none of us know each other. though i can’t say i would say no to an opportunity to get to know any of my fellow players.”
exasperated, honey sets the tablet down on the table, seemingly giving up on going through it for the moment. “what do i have to do to get you to shut your mouth and not open it again until breakfast is over? this is a genuine question, i’m being serious.” he regrets as soon as he asks, however, as joel merely grins at him. “not that. don’t be delusional.”
“you don’t even know what i was gonna say!” joel protests, though he doesn’t deny it. “ask me nicely.”
“not this agai- really?”
@gantzxkms they’re your problem now
TAEWOO:
“It is smart to keep the more capable ones alive for as long as possible,” he answered, “Gantz seems to leave it to us to govern ourselves with a leader and the like.” So that was the guy’s name, he seemed rather hyper and unserious about the whole situation more so happy. Maybe he was scared of dying or had a bad life before coming here. Taewoo in a way felt sorry for him if that was the case. “There might be some overlap… like gun handling, tactics, things like that.” The room wasn’t special but was littered with boxes, opened and sealed. “Well there’s a morbid curiousity with tragic news so how far is this from that. People get entertainment out of almost anything. Wasn’t there some kind of deal made in Death Notes or whatever it’s called?” he was trying to draw parallels between the real world and GANTZ, “7 rounds but if it seems like someone been here before who’s to say they didn’t die again and Gantz brought them back to play because either they wanted too or to teach them lesson. There’s so much we don’t know and from what you’re saying those that do aren’t very helpful.” For Taewoo that was the biggest take away regardless of how everyone liked each other it was better they worked as a team even if some of them did die. There was strength in numbers and everyone could bring something to benefit the team. He looked into one of the boxes already opened seeing office equipment, yeah like that would help. Most of them were opened so finding one that was sealed caught his eyes. Taewoo pressed one of the sides in creating a gap to grab the tape then ripped it opened. Inside were a stack of tablets, they weren’t anything modern in the slightest probably having been retired since this was a top school. Using old technology wouldn’t do good for their image. “One for you and one for me,” he spoke handing it to Siheon. “We better take these too,” he spoke taking out the power cords then continued, “Crime paid today.”
"well, i mean, death note was like... a deal the other party was aware of. at least, if you mean the shinigami eyes. but i suppose you could be on to something...” siheon tips his head to the side, considering. “in death note, the remaining lifespan of people killed with the note was transferred to the owner of the note. so perhaps gantz is cutting these deals because it personally has something to gain, rather than any bigger purpose. like, who’s to say that we’re not just removing the other aliens that this thing doesn’t like in exchange for not being dead, y’know? especially since it seems like so many of us died abruptly or prematurely. i suppose undoing something as trivial as a human’s death would be child’s play for a being like gantz.”
realising he’s betrayed too much of his manga knowledge, honey decides to quit while he’s ahead, turning away to look through some of the boxes instead. “maybe it’s 7 rounds per player, not per team? or maybe...” he remembers what the man had said to kwangmin, about other players just getting in the way. “maybe he’s been rigging it so he can keep playing. he said something about killing other players.” he doesn’t particularly want to interact with the man again, not after the last time, but he might have to, just to see what information he can get out of him.
accepting the tablet as taewoo hands it to him, siheon looks it over, brow furrowed slightly in confusion. “why are these locked up in here?” the bell ringing in the distance startles him from further questions, instead pushing the tablet and power cord into his bag. “guess we’ll have to figure it out later. c’mon.” grabbing taewoo’s wrist, siheon pulls him from the room, shutting the door probably too loudly in the quiet of the morning, but he doesn’t want to find out what happens if they’re late. they’ve got to get back to the main building and figure out where school spirit is taking place before the next bell, so siheon doesn’t feel bad about running indoors, keeping ahold of taewoo as they head back towards the entrance. “would probably hurt your chances of getting elected if you’re late to school spirit, and we don’t want that, now do we?”
TAEWOO:
Honestly, were adults much help in high school anyways? Outside of teaching, that is. A few people…is Captain Korea, one of them?” Taewoo asked, knowing in reality who that really was. He kept that fact to himself, getting hints that Siheon and Kwangmin had a bond, what kind he was unsure, but it did plant some jealously in him. He held his hand out to help the other down, “Maybe this is recruitment training?”
His words about this being broadcasted did jog his memory of a few cartoon shows where the chaos of earth was like a trashy reality tv for another species. For that to be true would be completely absurd, but so far Taewoo and the others were existing is absurdity where anything was possible. “What if you’re right? Then what does that mean? Are we just here for their enjoyment, or is there some larger plan?” He paused for a moment hearing what the other described, “So liminal space isn’t your thing. Maybe an hour or 2, I think school spirit is 1st, breakfast, then the morning classes. Gantz seemed serious about the bell… well, we can take a quick look then lock the door when we leave.”
So breaking and entering wasn’t exactly stellar student behavior but when you’re in a situation with vague details and dangers it’s pretty low on the list. Plus, Taewoo was sure he could explain his way out of it, if someone did ask. “Ok, let’s hurry up then go to the main building. Us being gone too long might raise suspicion.“
“oh-!” the slightest bit of a blush tints the tips of honey’s ears, flustered by having been overheard. “jeez, i didn’t realise anyone heard me say that.” he laughs sheepishly, dusting off the back of his skirt after taewoo helps him off the filing cabinet. “thank you- but um,” it’s truly a testament to siheon’s foundation - which he’d had to wash his face and basically start over in between missions, having completely ruined it the first go around - that the blush isn’t visible on his cheeks. “i mean, i suppose we could ask him... i’d really rather not send him over there if we could help it, though.” realising that sounds just a wee bit suspicious - he’s not purposely trying to keep kwangmin out of harm’s way or anything, that kind of preferential treatment is beneath him, and even if it wasn’t, kwangmin certainly doesn’t deserve it - siheon is quick to add, “he’s kinda like, one of the only ones here who has a working frontal lobe. we could ask joel though? the guy i was with before the mission started.”
he considers it. recruitment training... for what? surely there’s no space war that can be fought in some knockoff drama set. “maybe? i haven’t completed my conscription yet, so i wouldn’t know how this holds up compared to real training.” it’s relatively obvious just by looking at him that siheon’s no soldier, but hey. appearances can be deceiving.
“i think there are easier ways to get entertainment than to raise the dead. gantz implied some sort of deal had been struck. whether that’s between gantz and whatever higher being, or between gantz and us... i guess it could be both? or maybe neither. maybe there’s something else entirely that we just haven’t even seen yet.” tucking one of the bobby pins between his teeth, siheon begins bending the other one into a workable shape.
“i don’t remember asking to come back from the dead. do you?” his voice is a little muffled with something in his mouth, but siheon looks up from his work nonetheless, eyebrows raised in question. “if this agreement is between gantz and... and god, i guess you could say, then there’s definitely more to it than some trash tv.” he considers for a moment, trying to remember who all had survived the first mission. “some of the other players might’ve been playing longer than i have. there was this one guy... he seemed like he’d done it a few times. he also seemed like he wasn’t planning on being helpful, though.”
finishing bending the bobby pin, he pulls the other one from his mouth, biting off the little rubber bit covering the end as he does, pulling a face at the unpleasant sensation before spitting it out. “if anyone tries to say anything, we’ll just say we were looking around. cleaning the administration building. it’s not even lying, technically.” having bent the other bobby pin, siheon sets about using the makeshift lockpick on the door, looking up at the ceiling to help him focus while he works.
“i dated this guy last year who thought he was gonna like, steal from the rich and give to the poor, or some stupid shit like that. he never could figure out how to do this lockpick shit. watched like a billion youtube videos on it, and everything.” pulling back, he twists the knob, satisfied as he pushes the door open. “i did, though. not that you asked, or anything. just figured i’d share, since you’re now an accessory to my crime, and all.” shrugging a bit, siheon looks over to taewoo, winking as he catches the other’s eye before heading into the room, turning the lights on as he goes. “any guesses why this room of all rooms was locked? looks like just a normal supply closet to me.”
beloved !
TAEWOO:
“No, guess all the “adults” locked up before they left.” Which was kind of odd since they were usually everywhere in a school. From what the other was saying Taewoo assumed they were in a higher income bracket than he was. He couldn’t relate to going to a private school, that was one of the giveaways and the mention of hotshots was another. “You do have a point, we were told that’s a place to not be, but if the president is missing…why not in plain sight?” He paused for a moment, “But you know how elections are and of all the assignments that’s the one that’s required. I wonder what the voting system is…” With the just recently learned information for the last mission, Taewoo was reconsidering his approach, maybe this wasn’t the way to find things out but to speak the other players directly. That would also serve a purpose of increasing his relatability to the others to vote for him. “I wonder what the deal is that Gantz worked out and how we were picked. “ He did have a preoccupation to know why and how things were they way they were. Even if some of this didn’t make sense or even real, understanding it would allow him to better prepare. That was a trait that Taewoo had since birth and fostered his drive, to him knowledge was nothing without understanding the details. Math relied on it, guess work would only get you so far. That’s why he was such a sort after tutor because he could explain the concepts and steps. It also served his communication skills to not come off as such a know it all, he was interacting with people not machines. “Well lead the way then…” he replied, “This is a dead end until I find the passcode.”
“that’s if there were ever even any adults to begin with.” siheon’s not so sure: the school, at least so far, has been sterile, not covered in dust or in disrepair or anything, like he would expect a place that had been abandoned would be, but that doesn’t mean that there were ever people here to have abandoned it.
“someone will have to go and check it out, i guess. i’m not volunteering for that, no way.” shaking his head, siheon holds out his hand. “i know a few people who might, though. we just have to find them first. help me down?”
playing with his tongue piercing, siheon considers how the election might go. will the bullies get a vote? will it just be the players? will it be some third party they’re not yet aware of? he’s not sure he can trust the integrity of an election in the afterlife, but it’s not like there are other options. “i mean, from the people i’ve met so far, i think gantz is picking people it thinks might make good players? like...” he pauses for a moment, trying to think how best to word it. “a lot of the players are athletic, or intelligent, or both, y’know? almost all of the men have also done their military conscription, too. i’m not sure what the point of the game is for gantz, but there has to be some sort of end goal. who knows, maybe it’s being broadcast somewhere, like some alien tv show or something.”
exiting the room, siheon looks around, getting his bearings before leading taewoo further down the hallway, peering into the first room they pass by, finding it to be some sort of meeting room. “this place gives me both the heebies and the jeebies. agreed?” something about a desolate location that should be bustling with life is downright spooky. “how much time do you think we have before the next thing on the schedule? should we be spending so much time here?” after the last mission - where time had stopped and never restarted - siheon isn’t going to make a guess.
there doesn’t seem to be anything worth investigating in the meeting room, so siheon continues down the hall, brow furrowing slightly as the door to this room is locked. “should we avoid property damage, do you think? because i’m pretty sure we could break the door fairly easily.” even as he asks, he’s reaching up, fiddling behind one ear for a moment before producing a few of the bobby pins that had been holding his bangs out of his face, pink hair falling forward in the absence of anything to keep it up.
NATA:
“Didn’t one of the . .. people from the blob go to the 1st floor?” he asked entering the building then continued “was the last mission really that difficult? It seemed chaotic from what I heard.” Taewoo was being honest and speaking to someone who finished it would give him more of an idea of how this whole thing was played. It was a blessing that it was just the 2 of them so Siheon could give his unfiltered opinion without having to play nice. It was concerning if the last mission was so tough that it made “Captain Korea” silent in a corner. But he did make it out so…survival was the end goal regardless of the trauma. A smug smirk formed across his face, he liked the stroke of his ego, “Hard work paid off, I don’t know if we can actually run but the campaign requirement does seem serious.” “What kind of student were you?” Taewoo asked remembering something he was told or more criticized for shortly before ending up in this place. He felt against the wall finding a switch then flicking it on. His eyes were quick to scan the records department then made his way there. It was luck the door wasn’t locked and he made his way in allowing the other to follow. Everything seemed normal but he had to think WHERE the records would be. Not like they would be somewhere obvious but he checked anyways in the filing cabinents. Nothing. Well it was worth a shot, The computers? Taewoo sat down at a random computer finding it was on but locked. Password??? What could it be… he tried a few but none worked. Well maybe this wasn’t the route to take. He spun around in the chair, a rare playful moment for him. He had no intention of doing anything until the official start of the school.
“i wasn’t able to see, honestly. joel was being annoying.” siheon shrugs a little bit. “but the first floor isn’t the first years, anyway. that’s all the common areas, isn’t it?” at taewoo’s next question, siheon scoffs, shaking his head. “difficult? no. tedious, maybe. it was some big labyrinth that we all wandered around like assholes for a while until some chucklefuck decided he was gonna become the rat king and started shooting.”
he almost wishes he had something to fidget with, or some gum or something. he doubts the school bag holds anything useful, just some props, because gantz thinks they’re funny.
“it was actually relatively straightforward, all things considered. i just hadn’t been paying attention whenever the instructions were given out, since, y’know, i’d just been killed.” it’s by the grace of god, and a lot of experience dealing with men just like taewoo - law school is full of self-absorbed men, who would’ve thought? - that siheon doesn’t roll his eyes at the other. “i don’t think the boba ball would’ve made such a big stink about the whole ordeal if it didn’t mean anything. like i said, the last mission was pretty straightforward. the rat king was defeated by someone dethroning him and becoming the new rat king. so if the student body president can control the bullies, then one of us needs to become the president, y’know? i’d run, but being school body president sucked, i don’t wanna do it again. plus, i paid my ‘being in charge of a bunch of idiots’ dues already, i think. present company excluded, of course.”
considering his options - does he really feel like engaging in a pissing contest with taewoo? not really, but he might gain a bit of favour if taewoo thinks they’re on the same playing field. either that, or siheon’ll become a threat to his ego. - siheon decides to play it coy. “ah, i’m still a student, actually. but i went to private school. one of those ones that spits out all those young hotshots, y’know?”
as taewoo starts rifling through the different filing cabinets, siheon slides up onto the top of the cabinets for a better vantage point, parting the blinds with two fingers he can look out the window, feet propped on the windowsill. there’s a few players still outside, looking clueless, but the courtyard is relatively abandoned. “how much do you wanna bet that the president we’re looking for is locked up in that detention building?” from here, it looks foreboding, but he assumes that’s just because of the weird gray light of the early morning.
looking over as taewoo pushes away from the computer, siheon tips his head slightly. “no luck?” he looks sympathetic: taewoo’s ego is probably bruised by not being right. “i’m gonna look around the rest of the building. you can hang out here and keep trying, if you want.”
