When you meet someone for the first time, stop and realize that you really know nothing about them. You see race, gender, age, clothes. Forget it all. You know nothing. Those biased assumptions that pop into your head because of the way your brain likes categories, are limiting your life, and other people’s lives.

“The sky reminds me, That I’m kinda small, And that God takes care of us all. No need to assume, No need to fight, No need to hurt, Or to prove that you’re right. Just understand this, When you’re feeling blue, There are billions of humans, That might feel blue too. And we are so different, Yet we all look up into the same sky. So when you look up, The next time you’re outside, Be grateful for the big things.”

“It still doesn’t seem to have gotten any easier. Gorgeous, wide-eyed babies cradled in the arms of a smiling caregiver, about to watch the clockwork routine of their mother getting onboard the bus. Their eyes glance up intently, beholding all the wonderment of this world they’ve just come to know. Their little hands are being picked up carefully by their caregiver, the soft morning glow drawing attention to their darling body rolls. Their clenched fists wave in the air now, bidding goodbye to their mothers as they get pulled apart. A sad smile crept, upturning the corners of mummy’s mouth as she mustered a long wave with energy that didn’t seem to match her expression. Is it funny that my favourite morning sight is one in longing from separation? The pained look in the mother’s eyes. How discomforting it has to be for her, repeating the same farewell each morning. Yeah, it still doesn’t seem to have gotten any easier.”
