Tearing after the little bastard, Baran ignored the smaller branches that cracked and snapped in his wake. He’d showed those feathered assholes why you didn’t mess with a gargoyle!

By the time the branches became too thick for him to pass he’d already worked himself into a rage, reaching through them with his arm in desperate attempts to throttle the animal. He was surprised when it changed into a human, but by that point, Baran didn’t really care. If it could think like a human, then it should’ve known better than to shit on him, and to take the form of something so revolting.

“I’m gonna murder ya, ya green prick!” Like he’d believe something out of the mouth of someone who literally chose to be a bird. Besides, what were the odds that two birds flew over him at the same time this late at night, “Then I’ll crap on you, see how you like it!”

Garfield sputtered, cowering back behind the branch further as he kept himself from the outreaching hands. The gargoyle was much bigger than him, practically mammoth-like in size, and Garfield didn’t want to anger him further. He wasn’t all that much of a fighter, better at running and flying away from his problems rather than facing them head on. 

“It wasn’t me!” he repeated, his voice raising in pitch as it equally raised in volume. “You’re fucking crazy! I didn’t do anything!” he continued, trying to back further into the tree but obvious hitting the center of it, backing himself directly into a sort of corner. 

“This all seems like a big over reaction anyway! Why can’t we let bygones be bygones? I go my own way, you go your own way, we never see each other again!” Garfield suggested, forcing an awkward and placating sort of smile onto his face.

It figures, one of the few times he wandered away from camp, Baran was almost immediately beset by one of those evil beasts of the sky; birds. He’d been just about to charge a deer he’s spotted, knowing just how good a stew Jinx could make with it, when he’d felt the splat on his shoulder. He hadn’t even had to look to know what it was.

With a roar, the deer forgotten as it retreated from the noise, Baran turned his eyes to the sky, searching for the bastard. He could only just make out the beast once it flew across the moon, a brief flash of green, its shadow sliding over his face as if it were mocking him. Another roar, this one more than a challenge and out of anger, and he was off, flying as fast as his wings would carry him to catch up to the winged spawn of demons.

Either he’d be returning the favor or simply crushing it between his fingers, he was catching that damned bird.

Garfield watched as another bird shat on some gargoyles shoulder, and then sighed as he was blamed for it; it happened all the fucking time. The natural birds of the landscape like to play little pranks on him, and get him into trouble he didn’t earn for all the trouble he actually did cause in the forest. He flew faster and up between the trees, using the eyes of an owl with his body of a raven to see well but fly faster. 

Gargoyles were fast, faster than most birds, but they couldn’t get through the trees near so well as Garfield could, and his path through the trees was undaunted as he deftly swooped through the trees. When he got to a ledge he was fairly sure that the Gargoyle wouldn’t be able to reach through the sea of branches, he switched into his human form. He was more thankful than ever that his clothes were spelled to stay on between transformations. 

“Dude! That wasn’t me, I swear! I’m so sorry!” Garfield shouted through the trees, getting behind another branch just in case.

“Little shit, don’t play dumb with me! You’re talking to an expert!” Overheard something from Slade he definitely shouldn’t have? Play dumb. Ate Jinx’s leftovers? Play dumb. Forgot it’s your day on the chore chart? Play dumb. Broke Gizmo’s latest toy? Actually, that one he’d own up to, took a certain pride in it even. Point being, no one was better at pretending there was rocks in his head than Baran!

“Plenty of reasons to squish ya, punk, but this? Straight up blas…phem… blashpho…it’s just wrong!” Dammit, he’d heard Billy use the word before! The hell was it? He’d almost felt smug busting out a big word, but his friend’s accent had to go and make the damn thing even harder to pronounce!

“How could you do this to pizza??”

"While I don't doubt you're an expert on playing dumb, dude, you're gonna have to be a bit more specific on what I did wrong!" Gar replied, almost enjoying how frustrated Baran seemed to be. Garfield was a little proud of himself that he knew the word that Baran was trying to say, even if it was only because Raven had said it in context of someone dog earing a library book.

"It's blasphemous? Oh. The pineapple and black olives. Listen, dude, I'm a vegetarian at a pizza place who is bored with cheese pizza. Let me live," he sighed, leveling Baran with a glare akin to Raven's. Or, that tried to be akin to Raven's.

"I could do this to pizza by simple virtue of the fact that I am both the one eating it and the one paying for it. It's easy."

taking in deep breath, she knocked on garfield’s door. it’d been awhile since she’d seen him face to face after everything that happened.. she was obviously a little excited as she loved being in her best friend’s presence but also a little nervous considering where they’d kind of left off? finn had known in the depths of her heart that there was absolutely no way their friendship could be destroyed or anything like that by this confrontation but she was still a little anxious about it all? ugh, she just needed to get out of her head! “it’s finn!” she spoke loudly, knocking again. // @garfleldlogan

he hadn't had an anxiety attack in months, and he wasn't going to start again now. garfield put a smile on his face as he walked over to his apartment door, telling himself that it didn't matter that finn probably wanted to take everything back, that it wasn't her fault that he never meant as much to other people as they did to him. he opened the door and let her in without hesitation, knowing before she said that it was her based on her knock alone. he wondered if that was a little sad.

"hey finn!" he said excitedly, because he was excited to see her, even if it hurt a little.

Baran hated waiting, especially for food. Hated lines, hated people who held them up, and truth be told, he wasn’t to fond of the green bean holding them up. If the little punk from the gym didn’t hurry the hell up and get out of his way, Baran didn’t think he should be held responsible for what he did to him.

When it seemed like he was done, Baran might have actually let him go without saying something. Not out of any kindness, but the kid wasn’t worth the effort when he just wanted to get his food and go home. But then he had to go and ruin pizza. And that was something he refused to let go unchallenged.

“The hell is wrong with you?”

Garfield closed his eyes for a moment as he held back his honest reaction to seeing Baran in some public besides the gym, breathing out through his nose to calm himself; he wasn’t exactly fond of the other man, as it happened. He tapped his fingers against his opposite wrist to keep himself some bastardization of relaxed, simply hoping he wouldn’t get too anxious. 

He looked up at Baran with narrowed eyes and a scowl, not hiding how the words irritated him just as much as Baran’s presence itself did. He then smoothed his expression into a grin and gave his most angelic expression, sarcasm dripping off his tongue as he channeled Vic and Rae to his best ability. 

“What the hell is the matter with me? You’re gonna have to give me a little more context, dude.”

Garfield leaned against the counter in a way that he knew was probably obnoxious, but he couldn’t beg himself to care as he placed his order. It wasn’t complicated. “Two large pizzas with pineapple and black olives,” he repeated for the third time, watching as the girl behind the counter seemed to finally register that it was a real order. Thank god. 

He quarter turned to get out of the way and found Baran Flanders in the area of other people waiting for their pizza. Fuck.
