Happy Feast Day Saint Scholastica 480 - 542 Feast Day: February 10 Patronage: convulsive children, nuns, invoked against storms and rain

St. Scholastica, born in Italy, was the twin sister of Benedict of Nursia. Scholastica was dedicated to God from a young age. The most commonly told story about her is that she would, once a year, go and visit her brother at a place near his abbey, and they would spend the day worshiping together and discussing sacred texts and issues. Three days after their last visit Benedict saw his sister’s soul leaving the earth and ascending to heaven in the form of a shining white dove. {website}

Happy Feast Day Saint Jerome  Emiliani 1481-1537 Feast Day: February 8 (New), July 20 (Trad) Patronage: orphans and abandoned children

Saint Jerome Emiliani is the founder of the Clerks Regular of Somaschini. In 1508, he  was the military commander of Venice, fighting the League of Cambrai, when he was taken, prisoner. In prison, he gave his life to Christ and was miraculously released. In 1518, Jerome was ordained to the priesthood. He gave his whole life to the poor and suffering, founding orphanages, hospitals and shelters for prostitutes. St. Jerome died of the plague, in 1537, after caring for its victims. {website}
