Well then, happy birthday to me. It’s been… Hmm… an interesting year. It ended with my heart broken twice over. But I’m recovering quite well, and the main thing is not to slip back into the same old cycle. I’m in the middle of a divorce; I’ve come to terms with my new identity, which, mind you, is still up in the air… And perhaps I won’t get the chance to put it to the test, but is that really the point? It’s not easy to find your way back to yourself… After all, you’ve lived with someone for 23 years… It’s even harder not to give in to the temptation to fall back into a familiar pattern. But… I’m not the same person anymore. Over the last few months, I’ve learnt so much about myself… My traumas, my weaknesses… But I’ve also realised clearly what’s no longer acceptable to me… I still believe in relationships, although I’m very afraid that life without them will seem more comfortable to me...

And yet... I get even more angry when I think about how we’re being consumed by an epidemic of loneliness. We’re so tired of ‘traditional values’, yet too scarred to embrace anything new... My birthday was, for the most part, just a measure of how much I meant to people; all those perfunctory ‘Happy Birthdays’ triggered solely by social media reminders… They never meant anything to me. And I know that I’ve lost most of my friends along the way… So I’m not expecting anything on this day… But then again, I’m glad I’m still here. And I’m still far too curious to see what happens next.

What I do, those videos, not just bla-bla-bla... It's based on my experience, my thoughts, my reflections... Nothing is random. Everything is personal. And every word is weighed.
