Dark Blue || Alex & Gavvin
Gavvin’s reaction was a good one- right? Alex assumed it was, since they were still in the exact position he had put them back in. It was almost surprising to him that he didn’t mess that up, that anyone would want to be this close to him at all. No one else had ever said ‘wow’ all because of Alex, not really. He just wasn’t the type of boy who did that to people, it seemed like. No one but Gavvin. “I don’t know, I don’t think they’d mind all that much” They were fine without Alex today, they would probably be fine without him any time. That hadn’t really ever bothered him. Alex wasn’t the type that craved the feeling of being needed, he just enjoyed the opportunity to be there for someone if they wanted him around. “Even if they do, they can deal. I wanna be with you” he said, realizing that came out sort of… not how he planned it to. “Sit with you, I mean. They- we sit over there, anyway” he said, pointing to a table across the cafeteria. He couldn’t believe he was blushing like this, over thinking words that had came out of his own mouth.
Alex wanted to... be with him? Oh, he corrected himself. Stop thinking and assuming things so quick, that's exactly how you'll get hurt -- it's exactly what your mother told you. Nonetheless, the smile still played on his lips and let out a small giggle, "I wanna be with you too" he returned the obvious desire but also confusing. Gavvin has never, ever been in the position of liking someone. How do you know when you like someone anyway? When you can't stop smiling around them and you get that heavy, nervous feeling weighing at the pit of your stomach? Well --- he was having those feelings. The smile more so then anything. He could feel his cheeks becoming a bit sore and tightened from the constant smile that never left his lips. He shook his head from his thoughts and returned his attention back on what Alex was saying. He looked over where he pointed and then back at the boy's face, "I'll meet them soon. Just... not now. Not ready" he said, shaking his head but his tone noticeably much calmer than the last time he said that. Probably because their bodies were contacted.
Dark Blue || Alex & Gavvin
Frowning a little at the way Gavvin moved away from him after moving closer, Alex opted to move his own chair to put them back in that position. It made him smile, and it made him feel warm, and he was really hoping that the reason Gavvin moved away from him wasn’t because it made him uncomfortable to be that close to Alex, because- well, if so, then Alex had really just screwed up. He didn’t want to do that with Gavvin, he only wanted to make him as happy as he made him. He was definitely surprised, in the best way possible, at what Gavvin had just said to him. All the time? Gavvin wanted to see him all the time? Why would anyone want to see Alex all the time? “We should meet here, yeah. Every day, if you really want. This can be our spot” he said, already getting excited about seeing him here tomorrow. This would probably keep him up all night, seeing Gavvin’s smile flash through his mind, and he would probably be wishing Gavvin was in his room with him so he’d have someone to talk to while he was up all night. He wanted to be around him all the time, he wanted them to be together all the time just like Gavvin did. It was a new feeling, but it didn’t seem so weird once he remembered who his new friend was, why he was so much fun to be around. He was just cute, and charismatic, and the bright smile he wore kept transferring to Alex’s face no matter what they talked about. He’d never known someone was like no one else from the moment he had met them until Gavvin came and sat next to him, everything was so different about him. This one was someone he shouldn’t let get away from him, he just knew.
Was this really happening? Did Alex actually move closer to him? Were they actually... touching? God, this was just -- amazing. "Wow" Gavvin breathed out with a small laugh, that word was the first to come to mind when they were closer to each other, that Alex was the one that did it. He just wasn't expecting that and he was so glad that he did, more than glad. It just made him feel more -- safe, already feeling so much trust build for him in such a short amount of time. He didn't know what it was about Alex that drew him to him but he wasn't going to deny it nor even try to stop it but instead make it last for as long as possible. "Yeah, good. Our spot, I like that" he smiled, still fiddling with his fingers to resist the urge to touch him. It was just something that Gavvin found that it would calm him, to get to know the person he wanted to get to know even better. Contact. One thing Gavvin really liked was contact. "What about your other friends, though? Wouldn't they mind? I mean, I don't have to be here if this is their seats or something" he rushed out quickly and nervously, glancing from his lap to Alex's wondrous face.
Dark Blue || Alex & Gavvin
Alex’s eyes immediately flicked away from the boy and he felt his teeth start to press into his lip, wishing there wasn’t a guarantee that if they continued to be around each other- Gavvin was going to see exactly what he didn’t want to. What was he supposed to say to that? Apologize? There wasn’t any stopping it. “No, it’s okay” he said with a smile, that in this situation probably seemed as if it would have been forced, but as he looked back up at his friend he couldn’t help but curve his lips into something genuine, the kind of grin only Gavvin had ever been able to put on his face. None of that, even as he talked about it, seemed to matter right now. He was really happy he was sitting here, his body touching Gavvin’s, his lungs breathing the same air as Gavvin’s. The more he talked to him, the more he didn’t think he was going to be able to get up when the lunch period was over, have to lose this connection they seemed to have made until the next time they saw each other. Maybe it wouldn’t be lost, though. He knew he wasn’t going to be able to get his mind off of Gavvin even if he tried, maybe that meant something. Maybe Gavvin would think of him when they were apart too. “I do! Want to see you again,” he answered a little more excitedly than he intended to, embarrassing himself in this setting a little. “I really do. No, don’t apologize for that” he said, his eyes never leaving Gavvin as he let out a small chuckle. Adorable.
Gavvin grinned a little more wider when Alex seemed so excited to see him tomorrow... and hopefully the next day and the day after that. The last thing Gavvin wanted right now was to leave his side, to be all alone again in this huge and foreign world. Even though Gavvin was a born wolf; possessing such great capabilities... he hadn't the slightest clue how to really use them and nor did he want to. He would never take for granted the things he was able to do but if it was to protect Alex, he wouldn't even hesitate. Gavvin was tempted to bring their physical touch a little closer but he didn't know where Alex's line was and he wasn't about to cross it. A little closer wouldn't hurt though, in fact it would make Gavvin happier and Alex, right? He pulled his seat a little closer so his arm was pressed harder against Alex's and he decided not to do that anymore so he pulled his chair back to it's previous position with an embarrassed and bashful smile. "I want to see you tomorrow too, like... all the time" he shrugged with an awkward chuckle. "Where would you want to meet? You can sit in the same spot and I'll find you no doubt. I know your smell now" his eyes widen, "I mean, you know. Where you sit and stuff" he corrected, looking down in his lap and fiddling with his fingers.
"The fact that my mum’s on her thirteenth pregnancy scares me."
Dark Blue || Alex & Gavvin
Alex immediately looked up from the table to Gavvin once he felt his shoulder beneath his fingertips again, and this time he just kept them there. He shook his head once again in response to Gavvin’s apologizing, not as phased by the subject as he seemed to think he was. It wasn’t that hard to talk about, he just didn’t really know what there was to say, or how to answer these questions. “You probably would have seen it happen soon enough anyway. It just- happens, it’s okay” he lied a little because obviously the situation wasn’t fine, but it didn’t get to him as much here as it had in San Francisco. It wasn’t as bad, and he had friends, and Gavvin, now- it just wasn’t that bad. If he stopped telling himself that it would only get worse, so he kept a certain attitude, he tried to put up a certain front. If Gavvin still didn’t understand, he would probably find out if they started hanging out together. And they were going to, right? Alex just kept going back to that thought, how much he didn’t want to be without Gavvin tomorrow, and the next day… he just didn’t want to be without him, period. Unable to stop the blood from rushing to his cheeks at the compliment he received, he still didn’t pull his eyes away from his friend. “Thanks. You’re really- you just made today a lot better than I thought it was going to be” he admitted, tempted to bring his arm up around Gavvin’s shoulders for some reason, but would that be too much or something? This was all confusing to him, he didn’t know enough about Gavvin to know how he would react to anything. That right there was just another reason he had to get to know him.
Gavvin shook his head side to side when Alex said that he would see it sooner or later. That was the last thing Gavvin would ever want to witness, seeing his new friend being beaten down emotionally. Gavvin could already feel himself becoming latched onto him and his mother even told him not to do that but he couldn't help. Alex has been so amazing to him so far and he didn't want to lose him. How long have they known each other? Not even a whole lunch period yet? "I don't want to see that" Gavvin answered quietly, a hint of sadness shown in his tone and he looked back up at Alex through his eyelashes with a slight pouting lip. He was tempted to Alex what he was capable of doing to any of those mean people if they said something to hi but he wasn't going to scare him off. He probably wouldn't believe him. Who believed in wolves that walked on two legs anyway? Gavvin smiled the brightest smile he has ever formed on his lips, letting out a giddy giggle -- just happy to know that he made someone's day, made Alex's day. "I can make your day tomorrow too, if you want to see me again..." he chuckled, rubbing his cheeks a little roughly to try and rid of his heat that rushed to his cheeks. "I'm sorry, I blush too much" he laughed nervously.
Dark Blue || Alex & Gavvin
Alex’s brow furrowed, but nevertheless he was still smiling at the boy next to him. He was going to try and answer him just because it seemed like he seriously wasn’t aware of the answer, but he wasn’t really sure of the answer himself so he took him up on the ‘not answering’ thing. Letting out a short sigh at the barrage of questions he received, he asked himself all of these questions once again, ones that he’d wondered what the answers to were for years. He knew, though. Even if it wasn’t much of a valid reason, there was a reason. “I like you too, Gavvin,” he said, trying to keep his head up even while talking about all of this in the very environment most of it had occurred. “Because they aren’t nice. It’s not really me they don’t like, it’s just… how I am, I guess” he explained, finding it was sort of difficult for him to make any sense of it himself. It wasn’t every day he talked about all of this, about himself. “But I deal. I mean, I’m fine. It’s not really a big deal” he added, not wanting Gavvin to feel sorry for him or anything. Right now all of that didn’t even matter, he’d actually sort of forgotten he was here at school. He just knew he was with Gavvin, and that was enough to make everything better for some reason. His grin finally returned at the next question Gavvin asked him. “It’s good” he assured him. “You aren’t like them… I mean, you aren’t acting like they do, so- you’re awesome.” he said with a shrug, figuring that was the one word that encompassed how he felt about his new friend. There wasn’t really anything wrong with him.
Gavvin found it pretty funny that Alex decided not to answer his question about the fork situation. He didn't blame him, it was a pretty odd question that most people didn't get asked. Well, no one really got asked. He listened to him as he answered his question, his gaze getting a little lost in his eyes as he spoke, a hopeful smile taking over his face when he returned the likeness for him. First person to ever like him was Alex and he was glad about that. He noticed the small glimmer in his eyes... that Alex didn't really want to talk about this. That's what it seemed like, that's the vibe he was getting from him but there was so many questions Gavvin had that needed answering. Why were people mean to each other? Why did people pretend that they were okay when in actuality they weren't... why did Alex pretend? He licked his lips and scooted a bit closer to him so Alex's fingers brushed over his shoulder again, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked, I mean... I'm sorry" he said quietly, feeling a bit embarrassed about this whole thing. "Well, they don't know what they're missing out on, really. You're the awesome one" he complimented, bumping his friend's shoulder so he had an excuse to touch him.
Dark Blue || Alex & Gavvin
"Thanks," he said, both a bit flattered and amused by the compliments Gavvin had given him. He shook his head at the apology, knowing what he meant by ‘all over the place’, but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. There were definitely worse things to be. His eyes darted down to the floor for a moment when Gavvin announced that he was a big step. Alex had been referred to as a lot of things, but something like that? Never. He’d never mattered enough to be a step at all. "You’re fine," he assured him. There was nothing wrong with the way he was acting, even if it was strange… it was Gavvin. He acted like no one else because he was obviously like no one else. And that’s what Alex needed, someone who wasn’t like everyone else. "Me? I’m probably not that much fun to watch," he chuckled, dropping the utensil he held and crossing his arms. His fingers involuntarily brushed against Gavvin’s upper arm. "That’s ‘cause I’m not." he answered, hoping Gavvin’s reaction to that confirmation wouldn’t be- bad. He wanted to stay friends. "Is it really that obvious?" he said, swallowing and looking at the table before back up to Gavvin. "I just, generally try to stay away from people. Most of them don’t like me, because… I’m not like them, so…" he trailed off, biting his lip. "You seem different, though."
Gavvin's eyes looked down at Alex's fingers when they brushed over his arm briefly, swallowing thickly at the feeling in his chest. What is that? He placed his hand on his chest and bunched his own shirt in his hand to try and soothe himself from the feeling heating in his chest. "No, you were interesting to watch. Especially the way you ate, I mean, with the fork and everything. Why don't you just use your fingers?" he asked, cocking his head to the side and gave him a small smile. He shook his head and placed his hand up, "you don't have to answer that" he chuckled softly. The next thing Alex said made his eyebrows furrow and made him so, so confused in his mind. Why wouldn't anyone not like Alex? He was so nice, to him anyway. Was he mean to other people? No, that couldn't be it. They had to be mean to him, which was a weird realization because Gavvin has never faced any confrontations before in his life. No one has ever treated him badly, or made him feel bad. He was always surrounded by loved ones, why didn't Alex have that? He deserved that. "Why don't they like you? I like you, I don't see why they wouldn't like you. You're really nice" he commented with a reassuring nod, his teeth digging softly into his bottom lip while he wore his innocent grin. "Different?" he asked with clear confusion in his tone. "Is that bad or good?"
… well I’m Willow.
S-Sorry if I freaked you out or something. M' Gavvin.

Gavvin never says hi first for fear of being rejected or pushed away. He will stare... until you greet first.
Hello?
Dark Blue || Alex & Gavvin
Alex smiled over at his new friend, happy that Gavvin was glad to be his friend. He was Gavvin’s only friend, and that made him special… special to Gavvin, right? He really hoped so, he was trying to be that. “I’m glad I’m your friend” he retorted, his words complete truth because even if he shouldn’t be so quick to assume this- it didn’t seem like Gavvin was out to hurt him. “Okay, okay,” he said in an attempt to calm him down, watching him squirm in his seat at even the thought of meeting someone new. The more he sat next to this boy, the more he felt comfortable, like they had more in common than they even knew. “It’s fine, I have you all to myself, then” he said jokingly with a nod, the way he had worded it giving him some sort of feeling in his stomach he wasn’t really able to describe. It was just- tense, and chaotic, and amazing all at once, being friends with Gavvin and feeling the spark between their shoulders when they rubbed against one another. It made him want to make sure his body stayed in place so that it wouldn’t stop, that this smile Gavvin had put on his face would stay. He knew how he felt, but he honestly wasn’t sure how he’d be able to keep him away from his friends considering he really didn’t think he was going to want to let him out of his sight.
Gavvin was so, so happy that Alex was giving him a chance despite the way he's been being -- weird, basically but Alex didn't seem to think he was weird and that was a new feeling. His parents always told him that people wouldn't accept him, that they would find him strange and push him away. He was glad that Alex wasn't one of those people. His eyes darted all around the room once the panic started to rise in his chest but Alex's words, oddly, soothed him. Even if it was just an okay but his next sentence is what brought him back down. He flashed him a bright, toothy grin when he said he was just his, "good, I just want to be yours anyway. You're nice and you smell nice and stuff" he chuckled, his grin never fading but only growing wider by the second. Gavvin doesn't really understand how to talk to people, that certain words could make people think one thing or make people feel uncomfortable. He didn't understand that he didn't have to be completely honest all the time. He liked to be, especially with Alex. He doesn't see a reason not to be. "Sorry I'm kind of like.. all over the place. I'm just getting used to things, I guess. My mom always said small steps and I'm taking extra small ones just in case" he laughed softly. "You're a big step though. I was watching you from over there" he turned his body halfway to point at the spot he was standing in previously before he made his way over here and he turned to face Alex again, "you didn't seem... like these other people."
Dark Blue || Alex & Gavvin
Alex listened a lot more intently than he let on as he continued to eat, still having trouble understanding. It didn’t sound like Gavvin wanted to explain it right now or he would. Alex could wait. There was time to wait, right? He hoped this meeting wouldn’t be the last they saw of each other, the closest they got. They were already pretty close, being practically shoulder to shoulder and all- but as much as it contrasted Alex’s plans to stay clear of as many people as he could at this school, he knew Gavvin was someone he wanted to be closer to, whatever that meant. He looked down at his lap before he was asked two questions. Questions weren’t something Alex was used to answering. People usually simply told him things they assumed or thought they knew about him, they never bothered to ask and find out firsthand what he was like. Once again, Gavvin was set apart from those people. “Not as new as you. Yeah, I guess. I mean, I do. Just two, but that’s all I want, so it’s okay.” he frowned at his word choice, intent on showing Gavvin that he in no way meant that he didn’t want to be his friend. “You’re my friend too, though, yeah. So, three.” he agreed with a nod. “You can meet Joan and Oliver when… ever they decide to not ditch together. If you want” he said, rolling his eyes a little. It was whatever, he was honestly glad they were probably having fun. After all, if they would have came to school he might not have met Gavvin. “They would like you” he said, confident in that because… who wouldn’t like Gavvin?
Gavvin didn't really notice how close he seemed to be next to Alex, how his shoulder was rubbing against his and their faces not so much apart. It's not that it was uncomfortable or anything but because it was comfortable. He felt so much more safer next to him, that Alex didn't mind have contact with a complete stranger. Gavvin needed that, he needed that sense of security because he just didn't have it anymore. Gavvin listened to him as he spoke, nodding as he did and an instant frown formed on his lips when he said that's all he wanted -- just two friends, not including him. He should've assumed so, just like his parents told him -- humans weren't all that great. His attention was peaked back up, though, once Alex spoke again and indescribable happiness filled him to the brim. He had a friend... he actually made a friend being, somewhat himself. He didn't have to pretend he was something he wasn't and that was a huge relief to him. "Good, good. I'm glad I'm your friend... I don't have many, or any at all" he said, a nervous laugh following afterwards and his eyes widened at his next sentence. "No, no, no. That's okay. I-I don't need to meet anyone else" he waved his hand in protest, panic taking over. "I don't want to, not right now at least but just... not right now."
An insight on what a clifford does while the rest of the boys are gone
