Problems I have with the “new” Grievous canon

- Why did he want to become a cyborg? (Being a better fighter doesn’t really cut it for me when he was already good.)

- Where did he get the money? He’s from a poor planet and cyber enhancements can’t be cheap. If he can afford that I’d imagine he’d use the money to help his people instead.

- Why did he join the Separatist and abandon his planet? Why fight in the Cone Wars at all when Kalee has enough war going on?

- Why did Count Dooku train him in Jedi arts? How did the two get acquainted?

- Why did Grievous have such hate for Jedi? What drives him on?

- If it was a gradual transformation, why did his arrival seem so sudden?

- The explanation for his cough has been that the cybernetics isn’t perfect. Why would he risk shortening his lifespan to be a little better at fighting? Why would he give up sensation too? And sex! In a warrior culture, one would think a great warrior would be encouraged to sire many children, like Grievous did in Legends canon. Can’t really do that anymore as a cyborg.

- Legends canon gives him motivations and means and gives Grievous a sort of “humanity”, portraying him as a tragic consequence of Republic and Separatist greed and a man literally both driven and made insane. This other canon doesn’t provide anything. Just generic bad guy who wanted to be a mindless killing machine because he’s bad. Grr.

Do I overthink creations that aren’t mine? Hell yes. But the writers have more voice to me than Lucas himself. He said, “make something scary” and the writers made the character (Visionaries for example) so I find SW characters like Grievous more theirs than his.

I adore you in the morning and admire you at night, listening to your heartbeat as I fall asleep is something I’ll never forget. I need you when I’m having the worst day, I need you most when I’m having the best day. I want you in the most cliché way possible, you’re my better half that I watch grow into an even better version of the one before. You’re beautiful when drunk and upset that no one heard your mind, you’re beautiful when you drive on the freeway focused on nothing at all you’re beautiful when you laugh at a funny thought, you’re beautiful when you eat meals mindlessly watching internet videos, you’re beautiful when reminiscing with your friends, you’re beautiful when you lay down before a nap just focusing on your thoughts. You’re beautiful in the most mundane situations and god, do I fall in love with you more and more just hearing you speak. I’m so grateful to wake up everyday being yours.

While Clone Wars 2003 was finishing production, George Lucas changed his mind about Grievous being so agile. So they added a scene at the end of the 2D series where Mace Windu force chokes Grievous’s chest. Thus explaining why Grievous is coughing and can barley walk in Episode 3.

In other words: Lucas got upset because someone could play with his toys better than he could, so he broke them.

The newest Clone Wars series brought a few more cool moments, but for the most part he was still a walking plot-point--hardly any character to speak of.

You know what i hate about this new Star Wars movie?

It’s creation resulted in Ronderu lij Kummar to become non-canon, along with General Grievous’ very compelling and tragic backstory

And thats really fucking unforgivable and I am still salty as fuck over it.

His more compelling backstory (that includes Ronderu) has been Legends, or non-canon material since The Clone Wars came out in 2008, sadly.

It's such a bummer they opted for a more generic "power-lust" angle. Now he just sounds like a whiny asshole in a robot suit.

Just experimenting with Art Academy on the Wii U--this program would honestly be a viable tablet tool for me if it only had layers... oh well.

Really cool to see Grievous front and center in the recent Revenge of the Sith re-release. Wish he got that same treatment in the ACTUAL MOVIE.
