If you can find it on this blog than I probably like it.
I can beta writing and have helped with other general writing things before. If its not Percy Jackson or Runaways related then ask. I'll post more info about beta reading later if necessary.
Some of my fanfic is here too under my writing.
Asks and dms should be open so stop by and say hi.
Edit: I have a writing help discord server. If you're looking for something that gets to the point than this is the place for you. There are channels for sharing writing. You don't have to be a writer to join, the server also functions as a place for readers to find new things to read and to connect editors and beta readers to writers. https://discord.gg/5B66uKN2Nt
Edit: percy jackson - riordanverse fanfic server for talking about fics, working on fics, beta reading and editing fics and more https://discord.gg/y8EyryUPX
So I might have forgotten to work on the role swap au for a bit so chapter 2 never got posted. I've been working on it last couple days and its just funny to me because ive been working on my percy jackson vampire au fic for over a year (still havent started posting) and my runaways vampire au (im maybe half done with the last chapter right now) and this role swap au isn't a full fic like those two. Its more part of a whole and its already looking like its going to be longer than the percy jackson fic which is currently just under 30k. Guess y'all gotta get ready for my longest jurassic world fic to date.
Chapter 2 as is right now is the entire first day on the island aka most of the 21k words and chapter 3 hasn't even been started yet.
Best part is writing autism traits and finding ways to describe things without using the "proper terms" until nearly the end of chapter 2 and even then I haven't said autism once. If you weren't sure if Claire was autistic in chapter 1 chapter 2 should be 1000% clearer hehehehe.
Do you have any ideas for that eco-terrorist team-up au (Zlaire + Brooklyn) that you made a while back? I wanna know how Zia and Claire ended up together here? Also what's up with Maisie? (It's a lot at once I know)
i am so excited to have someone ask this.
my vision for it goes pretty canon compliant with the sole exception that clawen is purely platonic and don't get back together in 2018. this is a "claire catches major feelings for zia during the dpg" au. i imagine maisie being a little like the daughter zlaire and owen co-parent. kind of like she's the child of amicable divorce where one parent remarried. zia isn't maisie's other mom as much as her step-butch. her bonus momdad who plays baseball with her during their week with her. they all live in the same area of cali so maisie has a lot of access to her whole found family. but zlaire would be closer to san fran proper while owen stays in the countryside.
zlaire have a very traditional best friends to lovers story. it starts the same as canon, or what i imagine is canon. zia is one of the first people claire recruits for her mission of saving the dinosaurs. zia is SO passionate about extinct life and she believes firmly in treating them as you would any other animal. claire admires this passion and thinks she's the perfect teammate. franklin comes along soon too but zlaire have this special lesbian bond. zia isn't afraid to challenge claire at all, unlike franklin. they get along 90% of the time but zia isn't afraid of losing claire when she puts her foot down in that small 10% where they're at odds. and claire needs someone who challenges her. she gets bored otherwise. they bond very naturally as they pull long nights and longer days. claire woos donors while zia gives her facts to shoot off. before claire even realizes what's happening, she's thinking stuff like "i saw such a cute dog today. i should text zia about it". meanwhile, zia realizes what's happening but she's all "nothing will come from it. claire isn't into me like that."
i think they'd get together in the aftermath of fallen kingdom because claire is having the worst time ever and zia is just being too supportive about it. she needs her best friend and the lines blur between what a best friend would do and what a girlfriend would do. they definitely kiss a few times without putting a label on it. claire is very avoidant and tries to evade that conversation as long as she can because if zia says it's just a trauma thing she will actually become suicidal. so zia has to broach it first and be like "look. claire, youre my best friend. but you need to stop doing this because i have feelings for you. it's not good for me" and claire pounces to make zia her formal girlfriend. but the deeper the relationship gets, the more they kinda encourage each other's freak. they dont intend to do eco-terrorism to begin with. it starts really small. online posts kind of stuff. but it doesnt feel like enough. so now theyre putting up anon posters. but that's not enough either. which is how they end up doing actual crimes to save dinosaurs.
brooklynn comes in a while later. one of the things claire mentions for why she does what she does is the dpw feels useless. i think that'd impact her here too. zia and claire (and franklin) are sick of how slow and unresponsive the government response is to dinosaurs and they're doing something about it. i dont think they have much mainstream attention but dark jurassic is catching on to this mysterious group who works in the california area. and you know who else lives in cali? darius. it'd be so easy for brooklynn to do the same 'using darius as cover for her journalism' thing but for trying to track down zlaire.
in this au, i think either they'd rescue brooklynn from the allo or they'd be allies of ronnie who help the recovery. i lean towards the latter because i like ronnie. i could very easily see them being at the scene or ronnie calling zia for backup on a "sensitive emergency case". but instead of fleeing to the dln after the dpw gets suspicious of ronnie, she flees to the zlaire residence. there, brooklynn has back up in all of her investigating. and, unlike anyone else in this franchise, claire has experience keeping someone off the grid. she has a clone daughter and understands the importance of being undetectable. but i also see brooklynn eventually cutting them off too out of fear that maisie will get dragged in. and oh boy. when she gets to malta with soyona and hears "lockwood female".... that, along with her friends, makes her really realize how deep she's gotten herself in this mess
the concept of claire and owen just Deciding they’re married one day appeals to me far more than traditional marriage because it’s honestly just how they operate. maisie is just their child now. they move in together within 24 hours of being back together. sharing a hotel room with the guy I went on one date with. owen realizes he can just start calling her his wife one day. why does the state decide who is or isn’t his wife??? why would he let it do that???
and of course he’d do this around karen without warning and she’d be like “IM SORRY??? was there an elopement I missed?? you bastards got married and didn’t invite me???” to which he has to explain that no they never did the signing papers thing. she’s just his wife now. which is honestly weirder and way more baffling. karens like “so you mean you’re engaged?? she’s your fiance??” and owens like no she’s my wife. no one really understands the logic. but no one understood the logic to their previous u-hauling either so
Oh my god, Black Widow fandom PLEASE FIND ME, I DIDN’T KNOW Y’ALL WERE STILL ALIVE, NATASHA HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE CHARACTER OF ALL TIME FOR OVER 14 YEARS, YELENA IS ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITE CHARACTERS
I WANT A KPDH TAKEN AU. Celine, with young Rumi, is trying to balance an idol career and demon hunting. She would have to leave little Rumi with a babysitter at some point. She comes back and thinks Rumi is tucked into bed, and she goes to give her a good night kiss before turning her in.
It's a demon bundled in Rumi's bed. He is there to offer a deal to Celine. Give Gwi-ma her soul and he will release Rumi. Which of course backfires spectacularly for that demon.
Featuring Avengers threat level Celine and kid Rumi having to make sure she keeps her patterns and half demon heritage a secret. Which gives good reinforcement for why she would keep the secret later. Not sure if THIRD would be alive and helping? Perhaps this adventure is where she dies? Or just a Celine diving into hell killing demons.
There seem to be a lot of people who don’t understand why Lobo was in the movie, so I’m just gonna say it: Lobo is who Kara is at risk of becoming.
Kara is at a crossroads, and one road leads towards Clark and one leads to Lobo. Or rather, one path leads to embracing the responsibility of the life and powers her parents gave her, and the other is continuing to drink her life away, not caring about anything or anyone but her and hers.
Lobo is immensely powerful, and the last of his planet. Just like Kara. And when we meet him, he’s passed out drunk in a bar, oblivious and uncaring of violence and exploitation around him. Just like Kara was trying to be when she first met Ruthye.
Lobo is Kara’s future if she gives up on trying to be good. Drunkenly stumbling through the galaxy not helping anyone or anything and only caring about herself. Maybe not mindlessly cruel, but not kind or good or caring of the pain of the people around her.
It’s why they both get Ruthye’s spiel, it’s why Lobo’s whole introduction mirrors what Kara was just doing demanding to know about the Brigands, it’s why they’re both “the ditz from the bar”, it’s why they both have the gag with the space suit collar.
It’s why Lobo crops up each time Ruthye and Kara are faced with choices, sometimes acting as a devil on their shoulders, sometimes just a big lurking ominous warning of their bleak future if they make the wrong choices. It’s why Lobo says “let Ruthye have her revenge”, uncaring of how the violence might haunt Ruthye for the rest of her life. He’s a big constant reminder why Kara cannot let this thirteen year old girl be consumed by violence, and of who her parents didn’t want her to be.
Lobo is Kara’s foil and shadow.
I don’t think the movie always executed this well, it could have been done better, but I don’t think it was subtle either. The parallels between Kara and Lobo are right there in every scene and always highlight the choices Kara makes to be kind, and I do wish people would take the time to actually think about them before writing Lobo’s presence off.
I wasn't gonna post it rn but the JWCC Role swap au is up (part one). AC is broken (in the desert) and its time for distractions.
Here's the AO3 link
Below is the first just over 1k words. You might recognize it I posted part of it back in April. Have Fun! hehe
At the beginning of the school year, Jurassic World posted a contest to their website and all social media accounts. Any student in the U.S. between the ages of thirteen and seventeen could win a trip to the park in one of two ways. First, write an essay following the given prompt or submit a video responding to the prompt. Second, fill out the application and mail it in by the deadline.
The trip was all expenses paid, two week, essentially summer camp, starting around finals and ending in time for Christmas. The two weeks would consist of shadowing various park employees, tours of facilities, attending presentations, and of course exploring everything the park had to offer. It was essentially a once in a life time opportunity. How often was any teenager going to be lucky enough to travel outside the country with out their parents?
Schools all over the country assigned the prompt as an assignment, Claire's small high school was no different.
She wrote the essay expecting to get a good grade and that was all. She never thought about submitting an application. Her Lit teacher thought it would be a good idea, but Claire wasn't sure it would amount to anything. Her own plans for the future didn't align with the implied direction the prompt provided. Why should she try to win this contest when she hadn't won any of the others?
Besides, she just got a job at the start of the school year helping out at the vet's office in town. She needed that money to help out her parents, and Karen picks her up every weekend and takes her to her place in Madison. Claire babysits Zach for a few hours Friday nights or Saturday afternoon so Karen and Scott can have a quiet meal or whatever it was married adults liked doing.
Two weeks was a lot to ask her to spend in Jurassic World even if it was the one place she wanted to go to if she could since it opened.
Plus, she would likely miss her finals and it would tank her grades, lowering her GPA and therefore potential scholarships and chances to get into her top two schools — the ones she could never afford to go to, but if she got in and they offered good scholarships she would go in a heart beat.
No, Claire couldn't go to Jurassic World. She completed the essay then tried to forget the contest even existed so she didn't have to feel upset seeing the names of the lucky four.
She had been successful, mostly. She walked to classes, did her homework, went to work, got home and ignored the little voice in the back of her mind wondering what would happen if she had completed the application.
Then, one morning, during homeroom announcements, the school gave congratulations to one of their students. Claire felt dread creep up on her realizing they were talking about the contest she tried so hard to forget existed. She wanted to leave, to make up any excuse to sit in the hallway until she no longer felt like throwing up, but the rules kept her in place.
Her science class erupted into cheering and clapping and everyone was looking at her.
"Congratulations, Claire." One of the guys closest to her said. She couldn't recall his name in the moment, but knew his eldest brother was friends with her sister.
She didn't know how to respond. Surely, there was some kind of mistake. She wanted to reply with 'But I didn't apply.', but her body refused to respond the noise in the classroom reverberating in her ears like a concert. Instead, she forced a smile and gave him a small nod of acknowledgement before looking down at her desk, her own voice echoing in her head with the words she tried to say.
The words echoed in her head all day, especially as classmates congratulated her. She supposed they were all friends. The town was small enough that she's seen the same faces every year since kindergarten. It was kind of hard to not have an idea who everyone was by the time she hit junior year.
She smiled and nodded through each interaction she could, body still refusing to let her speak. More involved questions required more detailed answers. Claire tried to respond with what little Sign she knew.
Sighing, she put the book her Lit class was currently reading in her backpack. She really needed to teach herself more ASL. There was no way to answer most questions with sign language when she knew less words than her nephew.
She stood once all her belongings were safely enclosed in her backpack ready to start the walk to the vet's office when her teacher stopped her.
Claire had known them since she started high school. They taught every advanced English course the school offered. They weren't married, lived with their best friend who had been Claire's elementary teacher. There was always rumors about them, but anyone who brought it up was met with a 'yeah, and?' Whatever the truth was, no one seemed to mind. They were one of the most dedicated teachers the school had. It was obvious they cared about their students and tried to give them the tools they needed to get through what ever was next for them after high school. They always tried to push Claire's writing further, sometimes found more books to recommend or ideas to challenge Claire's sometimes stubbornly rigid thinking.
"Congratulations, Claire. I knew you could do it. Maybe after your trip you should consider submitting writing to smaller contests."
Claire tilted her head to the side trying her best to portray confusion. It wasn't too hard considering she never applied to the contest in the first place.
They pulled out a packet from a pile on the desk. "For you. It's a copy of your application and the email informing you, well myself, that you won. Take a look at it later. Talk to your parents and reply to the email. I can help you reply tomorrow if you'd like."
Claire grabbed the packet looking at it. She recognized her essay. Below that, a couple pages in, was the start of the application questions. Part of her wanted to be mad, but another part was relieved that she hadn't missed the chance to go to Jurassic World.
She pulled her backpack off slipping the packet between her folders.
"Think about submitting writing to other contests. I know this contest must have been daunting, but your paper did well. I'm sure you'll do well at some smaller contests as well."
Claire nodded. Right now, the last thing she wanted to do was think about other contests. The idea of them making her sick.
"You don't have to worry about your exam for this class. Just write another paper when you get back. I can get you a prompt later; for now, I know you have work. I won't keep you any longer. I know how you feel about being late. See you tomorrow."
Claire gave her teacher the best 'thank you' she could and left the classroom following her usual path to the road avoiding parts of the school where students often gathered so she couldn't be stopped for conversation.
The walk was quiet, those precious minutes Claire always used to try to relax after school. It helped that Claire had her noise canceling headphones with her. Street noise and dogs barking was practically non-existent. It was just her, the feel of winter, and her old worn down backpack digging into her shoulders. What happened at school had just begun to feel like a bad dream by the time she got to work.
She tucked her backpack under the desk, signed into the computer and waited for the first client to arrive.
Never been a huge fan of Reyna joining the Hunters (especially given the rationale she gave when her own sister invited her to join the Amazons) but at the same time I kinda love that she got friendzoned and decided to hang out with two of his older sisters in their 'no boys or romance allowed' club for forever. Like I know that wasn't the context of her joining the hunt, but it still feels like some type of weird power move.
