“How is Peter’s laptop organized?”

The question comes out of nowhere after nearly forty minutes of silence while Stiles and Derek sit in the jeep watching a warehouse that’s supposed to contain a water demon. Stiles already knew that stakeouts in real life are much less interesting than stakeouts on T.V., but he’d hoped that being on a stakeout with a werewolf looking for a water demon might liven things up. 

It didn’t.

“I don’t know how to begin to answer that question,” says Derek. 

“I mean there’s obviously a lot of information in there - is it catalogued? Is there a database? Is it searchable?”

“Why?”

Stiles tries to rearrange his body in a more comfortable position but they’ve been in the car for three hours already and there aren’t any comfortable positions left. “A question occurred to me after I heard that Jackson was slated to turn into a - you know.” He makes little flapping motions with his hands. 

“A giant -”

“We’re not saying it out loud,” says Stiles quickly. “I have my superstitions and we have enough bad luck.”

Derek concedes that point with a nod and a complicated eyebrow dance that Stiles hasn’t translated yet.

*of all time, at the present moment.  Not listed in any particular order, but here we go~ Many of these are staples/quite popular so I’ll try to provide a reason as to why it is MY favourite ಠ◡ಠ. Honourable mentions at the end.

1.  In Other Words, Baby, Kiss Me [61k Space AU] WHY:  THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE IN ALL OF LAND ESPECIALLY CHAPTER 4. I don’t think I’ve seen any other author even come close to being able to write as beautifully as this fic’s. And it’s not so abstract that it ends up not making sense–it does make ALL the sense and ugh ugh this fic is GREAT. GREAT CHARACTERIZATION, EVERYTHING.

. 2.  Dude, what’s a bulwark? [12k Small Town/All-Human AU] WHY:  SINGLEDAD! STILES meets SINGLEDADFIGURE!DEREK, in a small town…everything about this was so charming.

. 3.  Tried and Tested Series [33k MPREG, WIP] WHY:  IF YOU HAVE FRIENDS WHO ARE LIKE, EW MPREG, THIS IS THE SERIES TO BREAK THEM IN WITH. I’ve always been side-eye about the questionable biology of mpreg authors come up with, but what I like most about mpreg is the characterisation and story-telling that comes with it? And this fic has both (handwavey about the biology, great story-telling and character development). DEREK IS PREGNANT.

. 4.  One Big Happy Pack Family [20k AU, Actual wolf Derek, WIP] WHY:  BECAUSE DEREK IS ADORABLE. SO VERY.

. 5.  That Creeper, the Zoo Keeper [23k Zoo AU, WIP] WHY:  Always excited when I see an update. REALLY GOOD WRITING of all the characters here. HAS PINING AND MISUNDERSTANDINGS BETWEEN STILES AND DEREK, aka everything I ever wanted.
