âRight, sorryâ Nicholas said to the man before removing his feet from the table. He often got too comfortable in places, a hazard of the combination of his job, work ethic, and personality all rolled into one sloppy mess. Nicholas leaned forward and rested his elbows on top of his knees, interested in what the man had to say. Normally, he would have sent someone to deal with the issue but Nicholas was asked for by name. And as he listened to what the man was saying, he could understand why. Someone fucked up and Nicholas didnât like fuck ups.
When asked about what drink he would prefer, Nicholas belted out âScotchâ in between the manâs story. As the story progressed, the raging fire that always sat in Nicholasâ belly got hotter and hotter. He prided himself on having a business that kept people in line. Nobody liked a sloppy girl, especially not one you have to pay for. So when the man offered Nicholas a smoke, he was glad to take it. He nodded along, listening to the story, and waiting for it to get worse. It was pretty bad.
âWell fuckâ Nicholas finally said in a breath of air once the story had been finished âLet me first apologize for that sloppy mess, I assure you that is not how I run a business. You are right, the girl in question most definitely is new and she sure as shit isnât going to have a job after I speak to her. But you see, problem is, that she has debts to pay so I canât just go letting her walk away.â He took a drink before taking in a huff of smoke and blowing it out âAnyway, thatâs not your problem. You say girls keep showing up at your place? That sure as shit isnât something I asked, either. Fuck, we got ourselves a real mess, donât we?â
As Giovanni spoke and poured out his choice of drink - for two - he watched the man listen from the reflection of the mirror on the wall and took notice in his body tensing up with every word. He handed him both the drink and the cigarette. âWell fuck indeed,â he concluded and returned to his seat.Â
Giovanni nodded at his words. âOf course, of course,â he agreed and encouraged the man to go on. âIâm not one to complain about it,â Giovanni admitted, and paused to take a sip. âTo be honest with you, I probably wouldnât have said a thing if she hadnât been so careless with her words. A good time could be had and the payment could well be made, but I know a man out there would be pissed - and most importantly I know youâre a man who runs a strict show and if I were you Iâd want to be told if things were getting even the slightest bit out of line, so here we are. Debts to pay, no debts to pay - Iâm sure youâll make a wise decision. Maybe just a word or two; your business and not my right to interfere or make suggestions, really.â Giovanni inhaled the smoke, let it fill his body and exhaled slowly, then he looked at the man and said, âThey just need a fuckinâ map - or a better sense of direction. â
