Like a wild flower; she spent her days, allowing herself to grow, not many knew of her struggle, but eventually all; knew of her light.
Nikki Rowe (via kvtes)
seriously, i don’t think there’s any right way to do anything apart from if you’re just being you; then it’s a sincere situation.
it was just starting to pick up but already snow blinded her, the surroundings covered by a flurry of white and cold, unforgiving wind whipping at her clothes. she was grateful for the jacket aoife had given her in their bargain, it was the only reason she wasn’t a frozen corpse by then. she was pretty sure she took another step, but she’d lost feeling to her toes.
was she near a camp? was she near her own tent? how far had she wandered before this storm hit?
another step.
blinking ice from her vision, she tried to see beyond the white, blinding and infuriatingly unhelpful, but within the next moment her view changed. the ground beneath her feet split wide open, dark waters spraying up to soak her layers. she had time to scream to paw at the ground as she fell forward, the bottom of her plunged into icy waters. “ help! help! ” a final scream and then she slid further into the water.
the winds hit VICIOUSLY, rushing around ; harsh whistling outside, but something OVERPOWERED it... if only for a moment. opal-fae had heard it --- and the moment she did, light blues w i d e n e d and she JUMPED. ❛ no. ❜ she whispered, eyes w a t e r i n g... and after a brief moment of thought, the blonde clenched her jaw and n o d d e d. slipping the blanket around her o f f and r e a c h i n g for her gun, opal-fae looked around for her camp mates. and upon finding n o o n e nearby, she SHOOK her head and rushed out the front door.
for awhile, she w a n d e r e d, calling out to the voice she THOUGHT she’d heard as g u i d a n c e every so often ; and after a bit, she considered giving up... before the l i g h t of her rifle caught SIGHT of the brunette. the lanky blonde f r o z e ; hardly could b e l i e v e her eyes. ❛ judith... ❜ she whispered --- and a pulse of ADRENALINE surged through her then ; opal-fae r u s h e d forward, r e a c h i n g for the other girl’s hands. GRABBING hold, she immediately began to p u l l. ❛ c’mon... c’mon... ❜ she grunted, moving to her feet ; and with one last JERK, p u l l e d her out. breathless, the lanky blonde h e l d onto the brunette closely ; rubbing her arms before she moved to stand, p u l l i n g the girl up with her, and d r a p i n g her arm around her shoulder.
the w i n d s seemed to hit HARDER then... nearly enough to PUSH her and judith over... but opal-fae stood strong, t r u d g i n g through ; and a nearby house caught her eye from a c r o s s the way... or rather, a GLIMMER OF HOPE. quickly, the lanky blonde rushed up the steps and t h r o u g h the door with the small brunette. spotting a sofa, she HURRIED over to place judith down, before moving back to c l o s e the door. light blues SHOT back around to her opposite... and she ran over to a small closet to find some sheets --- linen. opal-fae headed back over to judith and d r a p e d them over her, before w a l k i n g to a bookcase and PUSHING it across the floor to BARRICADE the front door... in case the w i n d s decide to FORCE it open.

kingsley practically body slammed right into the person, and quickly - he didn’t even have time to consider them FRIEND or FOE, he rolled them both over, succinctly. “DOWN.” he panted out, his ears straining for walker sounds. he shoved them both inside the closest store he could find- it looked safe for now, and immediately slammed the door closed behind them. he was sweating, having been cornered by a horde of walkers just moments ago. it took kingsley a moment to INHALE then look over at the girl, and realise he had met her before. he couldn’t help but slightly think to himself that she was more c l o t h e d this time. that was inappropriate, though. “you alright?” he returns, instead.
dark browns caught her light blue ones and opal-fae was nearly k n o c k e d to her FEET at the impact ; quick fingers s e a r c h e d for stability --- finding his sleeve, she GRIPPED hard. the girl’s heartbeat had s p e d up tenfold ; nodding after she’d caught his p a n t, hazy eyes looked down to find her footing and she barely BLINKED before she was in an e n t i r e l y different place. blurred vision as she reopened her eyes, blinking out the d i z z y and she found herself looking up at the ceiling before her head slowly came back down to find HIM. opal-fae let out a quiet breath ; hands were t u g g i n g on his shirt... and when she realized, she took them back. ❛ uh... yeah. i’m fine. ❜ the skinny blonde answered a beat after, brows furrowing s l i g h t l y as she recognized him, too. vision w a n d e r e d down and she took a s m a l l step back, noticing just how HARD he was breathing. ❛ were you--... shit, are there more in here? ❜
judithknox:
in the first instances of the outbreak, she had been alone and a number of other things that should have stuck out like bruises across porcelain skin, but it was being alone that tripped her up. she had never been alone, in all her life, she had always had a sibling to turn to, she had always had a friend to call or manipulate into helping her. the knox family cast a large shadow, but on the day the outbreak happened for her in san diego, it was a cloudless sky and she was on her own.
she recalled those terrifying hours, where each second stretched into infinity, she remembered them in times like these, when she could feel someone else’s panic, when she saw their pain and their terror. judith usually took these parts of empathy and she buried them deep until she could leave them and whoever she needed to behind.
yet, she watched this blonde, let opal-fae take her time to realize that there was only one way out of their situation alive and then she helped her back up again. “ just a bit further. and then you’re safe.” or as safe as one could be these days.
from the b e g i n n i n g, opal-fae was ALONE. when the apocalypse came ‘round, it was no different... during the first few stages, at least. she knew how to SURVIVE on her own, sure --- but GOD how she l o n g e d for companionship.
perhaps this world was the world she was m e a n t for... as the world b e f o r e just DIDN’T seem to want her. too bad it was a little hard to TRUST these days --- but to her surprise, there hadn’t been a THOUGHT in her head that this could be d a n g e r o u s... that she could be w a l k i n g into some sort of TRAP. in this world, one a l w a y s had to be suspicious in order to survive... but no w a r n i n g signs flashed in opal-fae’s head. not for THIS one.
a soft nod to judith’s return, the w e a k, skinny blonde started off s l o w with her eyes on the path ahead. she was s u r p r i s e d now, walking without feeling the other woman’s arm around her. she l i k e d the support ; the idea of f a l l i n g being COMPROMISED by the brunette’s strength. clumsy feet s t u m b l e d now and then, habitually, but she was keeping up... for judith, at least.
