Mistletoe Kiss Cocktail
“What’s the matter with me?”
Dial M for Murder (1954) dir. Alfred Hitchcock
" Can you help me cover up my bruised eye? "
"A neamh, a leanbh!" She was standing in an instant, her reading long forgotten as she noted the horrific bruising around his eye. "Sit," she gestured to the chair she had just stood up from and briskly walked to the kitchen. Sarah snagged the hand towel from the oven and pulled a package of vegetables from the freezer. Delicate fingers wrapped the towel around the pack and lightly placed it against the raging flesh of his eyes. "Hold onto that for at least ten minutes, and I'll go find my supplies." Sarah walked away from Stiles, a flurry of words falling from her lips in a mixture of English and her native tongue as she grabbed her makeup bag from her room. She returned with the bag and some other supplies from her bathroom; ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and a first aid kit. "Please do explain, how this happened..." Worry etched across her face as she looked at him. There was a gentle fondness of memory, of days where her boy was in similar situations. Stiles however, was going to be free of one of her typical lectures however.

Carl Vilhelm Holsoe - "Lady by a Window"
Adjusting to being alive has been one thing. However, Sarah having acclimate living with an empty nest has been far worse. So much of her time had been spent as a mother that no longer needing to so thoroughly fill that role has left her with a hollow sensation. Most of her life has been spent taking care of others; first it was Joseph, then little Steven, and practically adopting James. Now that she's able to focus on herself, it has fractured her sense of self in a way. Time that she would have spent taking care of a home or helping others has left her adrift. While it is a blessing to be able to pursue her own passions and rekindle her own dreams, she often aches for the ease of the familiar.

Her breaths came in shuddering gasps and her heart felt as if a flock of hummingbirds had decided to roost between her ribs had finally wanted to take their leave. Sarah glanced down at her own hands, saturated with sanguine flecks and streaks. The blonde swallowed as she followed the blotched line of crimson down the alleyway. She didn't move to follow the track, there was no need. The figure that had meant to take her purse was off to tend to their wounds. She had made her stand and now that the adrenaline had started to dip, her hands began to shake. Sarah kept a firm grasp on the knife though. Hastily she wiped the blade on her slacks and closed it. She started to back up when she finally noted the other presence behind her. She spun on her heel, eyes wide and ready to defend herself again until recognition saved her from making another hasty move. "Jane?"

Internal nervous screaming over work
I just finished a test for a different hospital and though I've been in this field for ten years - just AAHHHH . I'm a damn good tech, I haven't taken a test in forever, and between test anxiety and impostor syndrome I am hella nervous. This could be a great opportunity for me if things pan out and oh geeze I really hope i did well and that they'll want me on their roster.
Inquiry by @murder-popsicle Is Sarah on social media in the modern day? What kinds of things does she post?
She is but it is sparingly. There is just an unfathomable volume of information with all the combined platforms that would easily throw her into overwhelm. If somebody has something to show her specifically, she will watch and listen. However she doesn't outright seek out the medium on her own on any frequent basis. She still prefers to get her news by word of mouth, the paper, and the radio. The fact that nearly every American has a TV now is also something she is becoming accustomed to. She takes frequent breaks, because sometimes the volume of horrors in the world breaks her heart.
what are you the patron saint of? Your Result: patron saint of heartbreak not of comfort. not of condolences. there is a heart and there is a fissure, a fracture, something that starts to splinter and break open. you're the patron saint of the way a heart is rent open. the way it tears itself apart. patron saint of the rift. patron saint of the gash. when they say to "open your heart" to somebody, you are the patron saint of bleeding out.
