birdboynordy started following you
And hey there to you, too! I’m Razputin.
Hi there! Pleased to meet you.
Girltalk (for birdboynordy)
“It is cute,” She said with a light laugh, “And he’s actually older than me, but not by too much.”
“You should see him when he comes off the Skyway sometimes. Goofy grin, all covered in dirt and sweat and all kinds of stuff, hammer in hand and he still stumbles over his words like a lovestruck schoolboy … It’s very cute, actually, although I can’t help but wonder why, you know?”
[Nordy laughed, shaking his head a little while pouring them each a new cup of tea.] "Probably because you're pretty. I mean, objectively so. You take care of yourself and you're cheerful and nice to everyone- you were even nice to the boy back in Caelondia. And you have a personality.
I dunno. You're nice. And pretty and it probably helps that you're one of the last people left."
[He smiled up at her, waiting for his second cup of tea to steep.] "Zia, do you like him like- like you like Zulf?"

For [BirdBoyNordy]
Zulf observed him curiously, wondering what exactly Nordy was about to do before backing off again. Oh well, what did it matter? He focused his attention back to the tea, taking another sip and savoring its warmth.
“That’s right. But we really should be going soon, I’d hate to keep Zia waiting.”
He couldn’t help but wonder if it might be a tad awkward to suddenly show up with Nordy in tow. At least before having a chance to talk with Zia a bit in private… Though he supposed it could wait until later. Besides, her and Nordy were friends, right? She wouldn’t mind having him there.
“But, you’re sure you’re um, okay with this still? I mean, after this morning…” He cheeks flushed a tiny bit in embarrassment.
"No, we shouldn't keep Zia waiting!" [Especially with what Nordy knew now.
At Zulf's question, Nordy blinked, shaking his head and laughing a little at him.] "Of course I'm comfortable. It's not like you did it on purpose. It was a mistake anyone could have made.
I do suggest getting the spectacles, though."
@Goddessbornwarriorforged
“You are quite welcome Master Nordy.” Sif’s eyes shining at her handiwork “I was only too happy to help.” she absentmindedly plucked at a flower in a nearby tree “Once, long ago, this was my calling…” she paused, eyes going wistful “To give life to the plants, watch them bear fruit and flower alike.” she sighed “But that was an age long gone.”
[Nordy watched her, listening to Sif talk of ages gone past, and what she used to do.]
"I'm sorry. What do you do now?"
[He hadn't ever heard of the gods changing what they did- but he supposed maybe it was within reason.]
((Alright yes time to get down to replies. Sorry it's been a few days since I've been on.))
karyn: paragraph roleplay makes sense in context of bastion characters because you can't fart in that game without rucks making a comment.
karyn: kid farted. smelled like old beans.
For [BirdBoyNordy]
“No, they certainly weren’t all too common a sight.”
He remembered the strange, often suspicious looks he’d gotten during his years behind the walls. It made him a little sick to recall how he’d simply come to accept it after a time. But, he’d known that would be the reality of the situation when he’d first come there in hopes of fixing that very issue.
Too bad that didn’t pan out.
“Well, Nordy, would you be interested in starting today?”
"Starting today would be amazing, yes! You said we were starting with the alphabet, right?"
[Nordy beamed up at Zulf, almost hugging him before changing his mind. That would be weird, wouldn't it? To hug someone you'd just met?
Yeah. It would be weird.]
@Goddessbornwarriorforged
Sif shook her head, swallowing hard as her vision came back into focus “Do not worry so, it will pass.” she stood up straight, regaining her composure “I have not done that old a magic for near a thousand years.”
Once her heartbeat migrated out of her ears, she turned to garden’s only other resident. “Well, did I get it close?” she said, gesturing to the new and lush growth.
"A thousand years?!?"
[Nordy stared up at her. How old was Sif? Only the gods lived that long- but he hadn't heard of a Sif in their pantheon. Of course, that didn't necessarily mean anything. There were probably other people out there. People with gods who hadn't forsaken them, people who hadn't offended their gods by using their images as decoration.
She could be a goddess.
He was very glad he'd been polite to her.
At her question, he looked around the garden, amazed at how close it was to how the gardens had been a month or so before. The plants were a little overgrown- nobody was there to trim them, to cultivate the way they grew- but it was very close to how it had looked previously.]
"Um. You got it really close, yes! It looks almost like it did. Barring a few fallen pillars. This is fantastic, I- thank you. Really, thank you."

For [BirdBoyNordy]
Zulf observed Nordy’s sudden change in demeanor with silent empathy. He had an idea of what the young man was thinking. His hand moved from his mug to the counter, remaining still as he contemplated whether or not to reach out to him. Deciding against it, his hand retreated. Instead, he tried to lift his spirits by bringing the subject back to their future lessons.
“It shouldn’t be too difficult to bring you up to speed with Zia. I have her translating some old books of mine currently, so while she works on those, you and I can cover the basics. We’ll start with the alphabet and work out way up from there.”
He took a sip of tea, the tension in his body fading slightly as the warmth washed through him. The boy could make a good cup of tea, that was for certain.
“Excellent tea, by the way, Nordy. But yes, where was I? Ah- the alphabet. As I was saying, we’ll start with that and work on some vocabulary. Nothing too advanced, of course. We’ll keep it as simple as possible. And you know, I’ll be more than happy to help you outside of the lessons with both you and Zia. If learning is something you’re truly interested in, I’ll always be available.”
Teaching had always been something Zulf was passionate about. The idea of being able to set up another series of lessons excited him greatly. He found it difficult to hide that fact, not that he’d really been trying to, as he smiled over at Nordy.
"That sounds fantastic, Zulf. I always wanted to learn Ura, but- nobody would teach me. Especially since I was half-Caelondian. And- um. I didn't really know any Ura. They weren't exactly common in the City."
[Nordy sighed, sipping his tea again now that the leaves had done their work. He was finally going to learn Ura, and from what sounded like a fantastic teacher, if Zia was any proof. He was pleased, but it was tinged with a bit of sadness- he really would have liked to learn from his mother, but she was dead and gone, for years now. At least he would finally be learning the language of his heritage, even if it wasn't from the person he would have liked to learn from...]
The smile only grew wider as it turned out his thought of him being a lost stranger was correct. Though that little reveal of a cheerful emotion quickly grew concerned, after having listened to the other’s talk.
“The Hanging Gardens?”
As in reassurance of what he had heard was correct, he let the word roll over his tongue aloud, before muttering it a few more times under his breath. That term sounded familiar. Too familiar as if he had heard from or read about it already, but from where where wher— ! Maybe he meant the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the one which once belonged to the Seven Wonders? But weren’t they just a myth? And even if he really was searching for them, there’d be a lot of other problems despite of that…
“I’m sorry, I don’t think Babylon is close by here. And without plane, you’d have a pretty long time walking there”, he laughed a rather emotionless laughter, rubbing the back of his head at that, for he knew that joke was beyond awful. Noticing that, he tried to catch himself promptly though, because the word ‘Garden’ quite helped him and his train of thoughts.
“But we have a Golden Garden here! Would that be helpful, mister… ?”
"... Babylon? What's that? And- a plain? How would that help me get anywhere? It's just a field, right?"
[Nordy was confused. He hadn't heard of anywhere called Babylon- though there were plenty of places he hadn't heard of. He supposed it might be somewhere past the Tazal Terminals, maybe- Or maybe a part of the Motherland.
At the mention of the Golden Garden, however, he frowned, shaking his head a little. The Garden he was thinking of wasn't particularly golden- more blue and green. Oh well, maybe it was a misnomer?]
"I guess we could start there. Oh! My name's Nordy, by the way. What's your name?"

(( a lot of people here seem to enjoy reblogging pictures and music and comment on such ic, which is fine
but rping on those posts just causes a lot of notes to the original poster, who gets notified whenever you reblog to add a new comment, which can get really annoying to the person who made that post
it’s just kind of rude towards the poster to use their post as a rp arena
you can start a new thread and comment on that post or something if you want! but don’t do it on a stranger’s post because they probably won’t be interested in seeing the notes of your conversation cover their dash and I’m talking from experience
just please keep that in mind before starting conversations/roleplays on someone else’s post okay thank you for your attention ))

@Goddessbornwarriorforged
Sif gave the young man a sympathetic look. The true tragedies in destruction such as this were the small things; ruined gardens, destroyed family keepsakes, lost books. Such little things were what gave people hope, and the strength to reforge what they had lost. “Well, Master Nordy, you may have come to the right Æsir…” she took deep breath, looking around the ruined flora “I may be able to help. Stand back.”
She took a few steps to the center of the gardens. The structure itself was beyond her help, but the plants, the life that made this place a garden… she could help there.
Kneeling down, she let the earth call to her. It was an old magic she knew, far beyond that of the flower from moments ago. This went beyond spell casting, and drew instead from a place deep within her, a power that was part of her very existence.
“ᚲᛟᛗ ᛖᚱᚦ ᚲᛟᛗ ᛟᚠᛋᛈᚱᛁᚿᚷ ᚺᛖᛖᚱ ᚦᛖ ᛈᛚᛖᛖ ᛟᚠ ᚤᛟᚱ ᛚᚨᛞᛁ ᛋᚺᚨᚲᛖ ᚠᚱᛖ ᚦᛖ ᛒᛟᚿᛞᛋ ᛟᚠ ᛞᛖᚦ ᚨᛁ ᚲᚨᛚ ᛐᛟ ᚤᛟᛟ ᚿᛟᚹ ᚨᚱᛁᛋᛖ!”
No sooner had the last command of old asgardian tongue left her lips, that the plants almost immediately responded to their goddesses command. What had been brown turned a lively green, trees that had not seen leaves since the destruction bloomed and blossomed, and the garden became once again full of life.
Sif had only a few moments to observe her handiwork before she felt lightheaded, stumbling a bit as she stood. It had been centuries since she had tried to use such magic without the aid of a focus or augmentation.
It was just as difficult as she remembered.
[Nordy took a few steps back at her command, watching curiously as Sif knelt down and said something in the same language as before. The garden responded, quickly growing back to its full glory in seconds.
He stared. A few words had done this? This was amazing- magical, even. It probably was magic, or at the very least, definitely something he didn't understand.
He looked back to thank Sif, and saw her wobbling. Nordy nearly ran over, thinking to brace her. He settled with putting his hand on her shoulder, ready to hold her up if need be.]
"This is amazing! Oh- oh no, did doing this-" [He gestured to the garden for a moment, indicating the surrounding areas] "-make you like this? Maybe you should sit down? There's plenty of benches, and failing that, pillars you can sit on. Or the ground. The ground's good too."
@Goddessbornwarriorforged
Sif smiled, standing up to her full height. “I am the Lady Sif, of Asgard. It is upon my honor to meet you Master Nordy.” she said with a polite and practiced bow.
She glanced around the ruins, brushing her fingertips lightly over a fallen pillar. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness at the destruction that befell this place, and would have wished to see it at it’s height. “What used to stand here?”
"Pleased to meet you, Lady Sif."
[Nordy gave a bow of his own, a little awkwardly- he was unaccustomed to the action, but if she gave him the courtesy of bowing, he would do likewise. He had to crane his neck a little to see Sif's face; he stood at perhaps 5'6" on a good day, and she was a foot or so taller than him.
How could he answer her question? The gardens had been simultaneously home and not-home to him, and as such his thoughts on the place were conflicted. Nordy bit his lip, thinking for a moment about how to phrase his answer, before replying falteringly:]
"It- this was the Hanging Gardens of Caelondia. Not exactly a garden anymore, what with the plants up and dying, heh. I used to live here. You would have loved it, it was- it was beautiful. Even if it wasn't the best place to live. I mean, you don't see any buildings around, do you?
It was still almost home."
