Geordie's North American 2 pedalboard

Greep's pedalboard has changed a lot in the like 3 months he didn't tour. Most astonishingly, he's using a new board. Slightly larger than the one he's been using for years. this is not true, I don't know what I was thinking

Geordie seems to be exploring new gear options and trying out certainly more Zappa-y sounds, like with the synth pedal. The choice of parametric eq might be to actually have less control than the graphic which had many sliders for frequencies.

While he is also utilizing the footswitch controls on his amp to be able to get cranked amp sounds

Geordie's Tele

The guitars Greep has bought on/for this American tour. (left to right) Gibson late-50's Byrdland, Early-50's Tele, Late-60's Gibson L-5. (Instagram)

The Tele, as you can see, Isn't standard and has a Bigsby and new pickups. Which are a Charlie Christian pickup neck and a B.S Bridge. These pickups are considered to be 'Warmer' than the twang of a stock Tele. Due to the thicker gauge wire inside of them.

the Bigsby is a B5 Vibrato.

Dave's new bass is a Gibson EB-0 from the 70's (notice the impedance dial)

Geordie's pedals at the Boiler Room

My personal favorite session of theirs

Geordie adjusting his BOSS GE-7B. He appears to change his EQ in 'unconventional' ways, taking out seemingly random frequencies completely (Boiler Room) notice the knobs of the Rainbow Machine, not sure what's up with that

This was at Greep's peak of pedal usage around the end of 2019, before he started to stray away from effects and after he got money from Schlagenheim to put into pedals. He uses his Pedaltrain Metro 20 to capacity and then some (see; the Source Audio Soundblox in the corner).

While some parts of the signal chain are hard to distinguish this is what I have:

Guitar -> EQD Data Corruptor -> Suhr Riot -> Catalinbread Sabbra Cadabra -> EQD Aqueduct -> Keeley BubbleTron -> EQD Rainbow Machine -> BOSS GE-7B -> EHX Deluxe Memory Man w/ Hazarai -> Soundblox Multiwave Distortion -> Amp (Orange TH30)

The curious part, is that there is no tuner pedal in sight, Greep is known to put the tuner off to the side. but even then, I'd expect to see at least a little bit of it. Safe to assume he's using his BOSS TU-3 somewhere though. (Upon furth examination, yes, there's a TU-3 to the right of the board)

Geordie's 2025 East Coast Tour guitars

Geordie can be seen playing a his new 90's Gibson Byrdland Thinline in addition to a surprising Fender Telecaster as his backup.

These are two guitars I would not necessarily expect for Geordie to play, but he seems to love getting new guitars.

Do you happen to know what gear Geordie used for the bbc live mercury show?

There's not too much imagery of Geordie's gear in the one video, but I'll try my best.

The amp he's using is an Orange TH30 on a clean channel, mic'd with a Sennheiser e 906.

Geordie's guitar is the good ol' Reverend Descent RA baritone in a Violin Brown finish

In a photo from the 2019 Pitchfork Music Festival, you can see his Deluxe Memory Man, Arpanoid, Suhr Riot and BOSS TU-3. I think there are definitely more pedals shown but it's obviously very hard to distinguish them.

I think your best bet of what pedals Greep is using is going to be from what his board was around the same time (see previous blog posts). It will definitely include the Memory Man, Riot and Bubbletron though. everything else has changed in some manner.

Honorable mention:

the strange droning synth during bmbmbm is a Dewanatron Swarmatron, a rare handmade synthesizer that features 6 oscillators that are all tuned the same but can be put slightly out of phase. causing a sound similar to bees. Think the THX jingle.

Ethan Marsh's board. curiously, no tuner. But when he breaks a string on his 335, he uses a Silver Snark. So I presume his tuning machines are very good

Geordies Pedalsteel

In an interview with Guitar.com, Greep shows some of his gear, which I've covered previously. But here's his pedalsteel

He tells the interviewer that it's a custom-made steel from a friend. So I doubt I'll be able to find a brand.

He also says that he uses his 80's brown BOSS-GEB7, found on his pedalboard. Citing that when you boost certain frequencies, it distorts them.

I think the slide is an Ernie Ball Regular Gauge metal slide

pedal steels were used on recordings of Marlene Dietrich, Diamond Stuff, Dethroned, Hellfire, Sugar/Tzu, Eat Men Eat, Still, The Race is About to Begin, The Defense. But they all cite a 'Surfboard Lapsteel' or various. So most likely Geordie got this one after recording.

That's all, a short one but I just don't want all 4 people to think I'm dead.

I had the pleasure of being at this show, it was wonderful. And there’s some different gear now.

Pedalboards:

Geordie’s pedalboard is more or less the same than it has been. Although, he replaced his usual Suhr Riot with a Moog MF Drive, a filter-based drive inspired by the Moogerfooger line.

The amp Geordie used was much different from his usual Fender reverb amps, a Limited Edition Vox AC15C1, an anniversary model offered exclusively at Guitar Center, most likely rented from them. (Not rented, he said he bought it and it promptly broke the next night.)

The signal chain of this board goes as follows:

Guitar -> Dunlop DVP4 -> Dunlop Bass Wah -> BOSS SY-1 -> Fulltone Mosfet Full-Drive 2 -> ProCo Rat -> BOSS DD-7 -> MXR Phase 90 -> Amp

The amp Ethan uses is a Fender Blackface Deluxe Reverb on the Vibrato Channel and the guitar is a Gibson ES-335.

Amps (in the back, unused for the show, is a Parker Fly Deluxe)

Dave's pedals, being a bassist, aren't too wild and are mainly just used for some fun effect during loud parts.

The signal chain is,

Bass -> Polytune 3 -> EHX Frequency Analyzer -> Darkglass Microtubes B7k Ultra -> BOSS OC-2 -> Dunlop DVP3 -> Strymon Flint -> Amp

The bass Dave uses is a Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass JJ V and the amp is a Mark Bass CMD 102P

The keys are a Nord Electro 6D and Moog MiniMoog.

Geordie's new guitars

Alongside the announcement of the Greep's last shows of the UK, he posted a photo of his 2 new guitars obtained for this tour. Further showing his love for Gibson and organic colored guitars.

The leftmost guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Standard from 1974, the finish is either a Tobacco Burst or a Sunburst. You can tell it's not a Gibson reissue from the amount of yellowing of the pickguard and pickup selector cover.

The middle guitar is the black midi classic, the Gibson Les Paul SG, I've talked about this guitar in an earlier post before so I'm not gonna kick an alive horse.

The final, and most arguably coolest guitar, is a Gibson ES-175D from around 1979 with a three-tone sunburst.

A listing for the same model, ignore the pickup selector label being changed, that's not stock. it is stock. (reverb dot com)

Notice the bridge, previous years of the 175 used a wood-based bridge, and for a little while had an inlay in the wood for looks. Also notice the fade of the sunburst goes up to about half way of the tailpiece while other versions of this finish are right up to the edge.

Bonus round

The amp head Geordie is using is a Marshall "Studio Vintage Head", a smaller, lower-watt reissue, or reimagining of the 1959SLP. The cab is a Marshall 1960A 4x12"

The bass amp head is very hard to see but I believe its a Gallien-Krueger 700RB-II in a 2U 19-inch flight rack. The cab is what I think is a Gallien-Krueger NEO112 turned on it's side, so it's tall and not long.

I'm not even gonna try with the drums. It's Premier kit, That's all I got.

Well, I'm never gonna figure out the exact model of guitar Cam uses and it's not really something you need to know, they all kind of sound the same.

However, I can find the mic he uses for the guitar. Which is a DPA 4099 Core Guitar microphone, a generally mid-high end microphone.

he uses the clamps with it but also adds some duct tape for securement.

The drum machine he uses is an Elektron Octatrack for like 2 or 3 songs, going into a Lehle Stereo Volume Pedal for volume controls

Also hooked up to the headphone output of the Octatrack are Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro's

Everything's DI into the PA, no amp or pedals for anything.

In addition to strings, I have also discovered the finish title to Greep's Reverend Baritone.

While it looks very similar to the 'Coffee Burst' being sold currently. It is actually an older finish from ~2015, called 'Violin Brown'. (Thanks, Tim from Reverend for the help)

Geordie's 'The New Sound' Pedalboard

It's basically the same as his black midi board but there's some differences.

Let's start with the basics, Greep has used the EXH Deluxe Memory Man w/ Hazarai since forever, he obviously is a big fan. He also continues to use the Suhr Riot pedal for distortion.

In the board above, you can see that he is also using his Keeley Bubbletron from back when he replaced his DOD Gonkulator with it.

The newest edition to Geordie's board is the EarthQuaker Afterneath V2, and the Origin Effects Cali76 (not pictured below)

To supply power to these pedals, Geordie is using a MXR Iso-Brick with a bunch of duct-tape covering it.

The volume pedal is a Shin's Music Perfect Volume pedal, a slightly-rare passive pedal.

Geordie Greep's setup for 'The New Sound' tour

For the more Latin-Jazz-centered music of his new album, Geordie seems to prefer humbucker'ed guitars

Greep's newest addition to his guitars is a late 70's Gibson Les Paul Recording. The large function of this guitar being that it has more in depth tone controls that really any guitar out there, featuring phase control and a knob labeled 'Decade'

He has also taken his 2000's reissue of the Gibson Les Paul SG, an early version of the SG that had not been branded as SG yet. so they put it under Les Paul's name. Which he did not approve of and forced them to change it. SG meaning Solid-body Guitar.

I have yet to find a non-blurry or obstructed photo of Geordie's pedalboard for this tour, but in this show, you can clearly see that he still is using his Deluxe Memory Man w/ Hazarai. He's been using this pedal since the earliest black midi shows
