((When I get back to working on Gemler stuff, I’m going to be starting his plot. Everything that's happened so far is non-canon. I have a canon storyline planned out already, all that’s left is to draw it. Please note that I mostly finalized the storyline and a bunch of characters shortly after the Steven Universe episode Friend Ship, so there might end up being some things inconsistent with canon lore.

After the comics start being posted, I’m essentially re-setting Gemler and he won’t know anybody he may have interacted with. Everything that happens thereafter will be canon, so I’m going to start being more selective about who I RP with, and what they’re allowed to do when they interact with him.

I hope you guys are excited as I am for the main plot!))

I’d want an excuse to be away from those people in particular. (And by “those people” I mean the “someone trying to convince you over and over again…”)

It’s not the fault of the people of that particular gender that there are people trying to force an ideal upon me. In fact, they’d probably be going through the same sort of situation.

While I recognize where the reaction is coming from, I can also see that there are better ways to handle it.

I suppose that’s one way of explaining it.

Personally, I think one of the better way to describe fusion is “greater than the sum of the parts.” The personality, physical appearance, powers, properties, and other qualities mix, and certain characteristics are magnified depending on the individuals taking part in the fusion.

Good becomes great. Bad becomes worse.

Overall, fusion is a tricky thing, and it’s not always easy predicting what the outcome of fusions between certain gems. The one constant is that fusions are more powerful/have a greater capacity for power than individual gems

Well I assume so, you are about the size of a building :)

But… Well aren’t you worried about losing yourself? The two parts that make the fusion, You’re not worried about being your own gem anymore, becoming stronger on your own through your own hard work and effort?

Well that’s part of fusion; being willing to give up one’s individuality for the sake of staying with the person/people you care about more than anything.

Of course, there’s more to it than simply “losing yourself.” You’re still “you,” just a different “you.”

I’m what you might call a “permanent fusion.” I remain fused all the time, and function as an individual with my own life, goals, etc.

There are other gems who fuse for only a short period of time, mostly in response to a threat or to get a job done. They’re more temporary, and are more likely to fuse more for convenience than for personal reasons. However, plenty of these gems do have positive relations to each other already (if they didn’t, their fusion would be very unstable).

Of course it’s important to grow as an individual, but what exactly constitutes and “individual?” I am one person made of more than one person, but at the end of the day, I am myself. I am simply me. And my being made up of more than a “single individual” doesn’t impair my own ability to grow and change.

Assuming cooties are real, I’m not sure it would even be possible for me to get them.

If they’re real, I’m sure they’re just a human thing.

What do you think causes the children to react that way? Why would they “not want that”?

It’s not as though they have to get married, or even that it only has to do with people of a different gender.

And for me personally, I’ve been a fusion for so long that I’ve sort of forgotten what it is to be alone. I mean, I certainly remember, but I’ve simply grown accustomed to… not being alone, if that makes any sense.

Explaining fusion to humans is difficult. Humans simply no analog for fusion, so I really don’t have anything I can compare it to.

On account of the fact that peanut butter toast tastes great and so does jam and bread but when you put ‘em together you get the ultimate lunchtime delicacy?

…what is it with humans and arbitrarily assigning attributes to others based on gender?

How would one’s gender control things like that? It simply lacks all logic.

Obviously being a different sex might cause predisposition for certain physical and mental differences, but at the end of the day, a gender is simply a way people identify–

I’ve seen many types of beings in this world and many different types of Once-lets. Nothing really surprises me anymore.

This world is just full of diversity, isn’t it? In fact, Earth itself has a surprising diversity of beings.

Then again, I’ve had my fair share of interdimensional travels, so, as you said “nothing really surprises me anymore” either.

The most surprising thing, I think, is that all these different versions of the same person can exist in both their own dimension and a connected, communal dimension at the same time. And I’m stumped as to how this strange situation came to be.
