Just got home from my first pottery class at a new studio!! Mixed feelings but mostly proud of myself!

I don't love the wheels they use. At the previous studio you could set the pedal to a speed and leave it, but this one the pedal is like a car pedal and you have to hover at the perfect speed. Insaneeeee and I can't hold a steady speed bcs I'm a hoon deep down.

I LOVE the clay they use. It's such a nice colour compared to the standard clay used in the previous studio (which was super groggy for stability and helpful to learn on, but I didn't love how it fired).

This studio has open access on weekends! I wish it lined up better with my schedule but I know weekends would be their best money maker so I get itttt. I deffo will check it out, $15 an hour with clay and tools and everything provided is pretty decent. It's also the only option in our small town lol.

The class size is massive. Like, triple the size of my previous classes. But I do feel like they break us into groups based on abilities and I noticed they were teaching some more advanced forms to some people who had been going before. The previous studio did this but it was largely "what do u wanna make" and they'd help you. I love the idea of having a curriculum bcs I never know what to make, I just wanna learn it all and practice until I find a style I love.

The teachers are lovely and so are the people. I feel like that's pretty much a given for a pottery community lol.

Just impulse bought a steamdeck. Have been wanting one (or a pc) for the longest time so I guess it's not really an impulse. Today just ended up being the day.

I also start pottery classes at a new studio tomorrow and I'm so nervy. They have an open studio on Friday nights and weekends so I'm excited to see how the studio works and then can hopefully progress even faster!! I love clay.
