How gratifying to see pets being treated well and happy.
@quasarkisses
Wicked could be so much more compelling if it actually ran with the idea of Glinda and Elphaba being literal narrative foils who are capable of bringing out the extremes in the other, whether the best or worst, and how despite loving each other, they were unable to reconcile their differences until the very end, and truly run with the concept of "who can say if I've been changed for the better but because I knew you I have been changed for good"
Because like. If you completely remove Fiyero from the equation, what they'd be fighting over is the method to achieve change on a much wider scope, because they both believe in the same thing, they just have different beliefs on how to achieve this change, with Elphaba believing that change must be an external force exerted on the government in contrast to Glinda believing that change can be achieved from the inside, both methods showing their personalities with Elphaba being much more impulsive and in tune with her emotions in contrast to Glinda being an extremely logical and repressed, which is an idea repeated constantly throughout the story, which I argue is also seen in the way they're able to cast their magic
Because even though you love someone, you can be fundamentally different enough to not be able to reconcile these differences, and that is ultimately the tragedy of Wicked, because here are these two people who are the only people who truly understand the other, but despite this, they were unable to reconcile their differences, and truly, is there anything more tragic than being truly understood by someone inside and out and still end up on opposite sides of the same story????
They fundamentally connect due to their mutual loneliness despite being on opposite ends of the "popularity spectrum" if you can call it that, but in addition to this, due to their very different experiences with ostracization they also have fundamental differences that lead to their separation and what connected them simultaneously was what separated them as well
I could go on but I don't know if I'm being coherent
Also I don't know if I should tag this in the main tags

#WHY
Because the majority of human existence has not been to the knowledge and supply level we are at now. You canât just give someone electrolytes in the 19th century, you have no idea what the fuck they are. Someone is sick, and can only keep weak liquids down, but you know enough at this point to realise that man cannot live on water alone.  So you work out really weird ways to infuse foodstuffs into liquids they can handle to try and keep food into them. A lot of these also come from a way to stretch nutrient sources in times of poverty and scarcity.Â
Thank you for this addition. People are curiously comfortable assuming everyone in the past was stupid and illogical, and itâs always struck me as showing a sad lack of empathy for fellow human beings. Itâs like people in the past arenât seen as, you know, people
Your local 19th century PhD researcher popping in here to add to this. Toast water is 100% a drink for treating illness. It turns up listed in several household medicine guides in the 19th century, and is listed as for treating people with fever, diarrhoea and vomiting, who canât keep anything down. Itâs essentially oral rehydration therapy.Â
It interestingly starts turning up in literature in the period covering five major cholera outbreaks in the UK and US (this was obviously an English language Ngram search).
And peaks several times at epidemic peak points (1830s, 1850, 1880s), including its first peak in 1831/2, which corresponds with the first cholera epidemic in the UK.Â
It also corresponds with the year William Brooke OâShaughnessy discovered that a lot of people who were dying of cholera were severely lacking water and salts in their blood and urine. Dehydration was found to be a major cause of death in cholera patients. âToast waterâ was suggested in the Lancet medical journal in 1832 as an initial treatment for cholera patients.Â
Most of the recipes in household medicine guides I found suggest sweetening or flavouring the toast water with something if the patient could keep it down in order to cover the terrible taste.
People in the past were just people. And in this particular case, they were trying to keep their loved ones from dying of cholera.Â
And here is a link to possibly my fave ever book, with some modern recipes to do the same job , including the water you cooked rice in with the water you cooked rice in plus half a teaspoon of salt - so really toast water was pretty smart - https://en.hesperian.org/hhg/New_Where_There_Is_No_Doctor:Dehydration#Rehydration_drinks

the best thing about this is that when thereâs plenty of resources, domesticated cats will naturally form colonies. in these colonies female cats raise their kittens communally with their kin. so you get situations where moms will raise kittens with their daughters from a previous litter, cats from the same litter will raise kittens together, etc. so not only does this little old kitty see her human as family, she is also excited to help her with her kitten.

This fake yarn is supposedly better for sheep.
Aimed at people who donât know where wool comes from, itâs 100% plastic. Yes, plastic.
So any garment you wash will release microfibres into the sea. Itâll never decompose.
Youâre supposed to believe that sheep shearing is violent and cruel. There are imbeciles out there that work in an unprofessional manner while shearing, but thatâs not the case overall.
Sheep donât suffer from having their fleece removed.
Left on, the fleece can become a home for fly eggs and the subsequent maggots which can eat the sheep. Chemical treatments are available to prevent that happening. Itâs much better for the sheep, the land and the farmer to avoid chemical use.
Donât be fooled. Wool is a sustainable material, one we should make more and better use of.
Any garment you wash will release microfibres into the sea. Itâll never decompose.
This is very important.
And you need to wash acrylic wool garment more often than natural wool. They get stinky way more easily.
In my almost-decade of owning sheep, there have been exactly two(2) bad shearers try to start up in the area. Know what happened? The first farm they went to called every other shepherd in the area and said âThis guy cut one of my sheep and didnât think it was a big deal, donât hire him.â And neither of them ever did business in the area again.
Some farmers are less conscientious than they should be about taking care of their stock, and the occasional tiny nick will happen, but no one is going to hire a shearer who is a) incompetent enough and b) uncaring enough to actually injure the animals to the point of bleeding, let alone the kind of horrors the internet claims.
Also, most breeds of sheep will literally die if they go too long without being sheared. PETA (and letâs face it, most of this anti-wool stuff can be traced back to deliberate misinformation from PETA) doesnât care if sheep die, they have openly stated that they would prefer every domestic species that can no longer survive without humans go extinct rather than live in â"slavery.ââ
Humans and sheep have lived together for over ten thousand years, theyâve been domesticated longer than dogs! Their lives consist of doing whatever the heck they want (for the most part they only want to walk, eat, sleep, play, and make lambs) while being fed and cared for, for the low price of having their hair cut once a year. Why would anyone boycott this natural, biodegradable fiber humans have been using for so long to the benefit of both species, in favor of plastics that are killing the planet??
