I canât be the only one that ships Padparadscha and Leggy! These two adorably scatterbrained gems are meant for each other!
Please protect them both!!

âThat does sounds fun, butâŠâ
âI donât really know enough flowers to have a favorite, to be honest. Soo⊠Maybe something thatâs red like me?â she offered. She was unsure just how many red flowers there were, but she was sure whatever Navy suggested to her, sheâd probably like. âPink would be nice, too!â
âYeah I can definitely do that. Iâve been picking flowers all morning and thereâs a bunch of pink and red ones.â She sat down across from the other Ruby. She took a bunch of red and pink daises and began twisting them in her vine. âDo you wanna make one too?â
Leggy nodded, pleased to hear that the colors of flowers she requested had already been acquired.
She was then asked if she wanted to make one too, and her eyes lit up. The other rubies might not have approved, but she had to admit she quite liked the look of these âflower crowns.â It was just Navy there, too, and she supposed she could get away with making a flower crown without the others finding out. âWell... Sure! Can you show me how to make one, though?â
arubysoldier:
âNo,â That, at least, seemed to irritate the ruby enough for her to lift her face out of the dirt. âThis is not our home. Our home is-â Her torso was hefted upright on strong arms, and the older soldier all but glared daggers at the younger. Sheâd never wanted to hit a gem fresh out of the Kindergarten before.Â
Itâs not her fault, she doesnât know, itâs not her fault, SHE DOESNâT KNOW.Â
âOur home is Homeworld. We- we belong on Homeworld!âÂ
Leggy creased her brows, sitting there in a sullen silence. If their home was Homeworld, and they were trapped there on Earth, then something was very wrong.
Yet, Eyeball looked like she was about ready to just give up. Leggy couldnât understand why the other gem would give up so easily, especially considering how much the other gem seemed to revile the planet Earth. That, and she hadnât seen the gem give up before.
Though the gem hadnât had long enough to develop any strong opinion on Earth herself, if the other rubies disliked it, she disliked it, and she was determined to get away from it.
âThen we should go back, right?â she insisted. âWe canât just give up!â
I think I managed to copy the border style??
Now I kind of wish I had an updated psd on here as well tbh

Considering Garnet could be pretty intimidating when she was looming over other gems like that, Leggy could appreciate that Garnet had knelt down to her level.Â
She reached out to grab Garnetâs hand, to get a closer look, and gave a small gasp of surprise when she saw the Ruby Gem. âYeah⊠That really does look just like my gem!âÂ
Her eyes were drawn to the other gem next, though, and she placed a tentative hand on it. Leggy had not gotten the chance to meet many gems in the short span of time between being made and being sent off to her first mission, so Sapphires were completely foreign to her. âThatâs a Sapphire? Iâve never met a Sapphire before. What are they like?â
âMmhmm,â Garnet answered, smiling all the while. She had no problems in answering Leggyâs questions. This ruby just was easy to talk to, and she needed the time taken to talk to her. It just seemed right.
âIt doesnât surprise me that youâve never met one. Sapphires are rare Gems,â she said. âTheyâre very elegant, and beautifulâŠâ That could have been a Ruby thought slipping through. Then again, it wasnât hard to mask it. Ruby really did think that Sapphire was the most beautiful Gem to ever grace the world. Others might have disagreed.
âThey seem cold and unfeelinâ on the surface, but thatâs only because they can see the future. They know what to expect a lot of the time. But when you take the time to talk to âem⊠To get to know âem, youâll see how kind and understandinâ they are. Sapphire⊠Sheâs someone Ruby essentially canât imagine livinâ without,â Garnet explained. It was true enough. Garnet herself couldnât live without either of them. She would always exist within them, but couldnât exist without them.
âReally? A gem that can see into the future?â Apparently, gems came with a lot more powers than she had previously thought. Whoever these Sapphires were, with the ability to see into the future and all, must have been powerful, high-ranking gems. That, and Garnetâs flowery description of her made Leggy feel like Sapphires were a gem to be admired. âSapphires sound pretty amazing the way you describe them.â
The fact that they were actually fused together, however, was a subject of confusion. It went against what very little she did know, in fact. âSo like... A Ruby and Sapphire can actually fuse together? I didnât think we could even fuse with other gems... Especially not with higher-ups.â
aeipathic:
leggy.
@aeipathic liked this post for a starter
âTo be honest, Iâm not really sure whatâs going on.â
It had all been a whirlwind: The trip to the moon, being sucked into space, and eventually being picked up in the ruby ship and being brought back to Earth. It was a lot that had happened in a short amount of time, and Leggy was struggling to keep up.Â
It was made even more confusing by fact that the enemy seemed to be helping them.
âArenât you supposed to be the enemy?â
To be entirely honest, Pearl hadnât been quite sold on the idea of bringing back the rubies in the first place. True, leaving them stranded in space was a little harsh, but Pearl would shed no tears over it if it ensured their own safety. But Steven was adamant, and she had to admit that it was probably better to keep an eye on them here on Earth than run the risk that theyâd somehow manage to get back to Homeworld on their own.
Besides. Rubies werenât really all that dangerous.
âYes, well,â she sighed at the ruby - given the general confusion, she was pretty sure this was the newly-made one, though she was still working on being able to tell them apart. âAs long as you donât try to betray us to Homeworld, we donât have to be enemies.â And if they did try to betray them, Pearl was more than prepared to poof them in an instant. âWhatever Homeworld may have told you, we arenât a menace to Gemkind. We just want to be left alone.â
âBut you already tricked us like, twice, and all we wanted to do was find that Gem Jasper.â
Sheâd been told only the bare minimum on the Crystal Gems and, well, anything, so most of what sheâd learned about them had been from tidbits spoken from her fellow Rubies and from living experience. What she did gather from that very little, though, was that the Crystal Gems would resort to all kinds of trickery if need be.
It didnât help, either, that she learned recently that one of the Crystal Gems had shattered a Diamond. She didnât trust them, but also she feared them.
âHow do I know this all isnât some other trick?â

While she was right about Pearl being unable to kick her, she hadnât been expecting Pearl to just pick her up. All she could really do, then, was dangle helplessly as Pearl confronted her.
Pearl was threatening to kick her back to space, and that, needless to say, made her very nervous. It was a miracle that sheâd finally gotten back on solid ground, and she certainly didnât want to go through that again, especially if she had to make a crash landing again. She had very little doubt in her mind, either, that Pearl was capable of kicking her back into space. Sheâd seen the Crystal Gems do some strange things, and kicking someone to space hardly seemed out of line among those things.
âI⊠I donât know what Iâm doing here! I just got here! Without the rest of the squad, I donât even know what Iâm supposed to be doing,â she hurriedly explained, desperate to avoid such a fate this time. âPlease donât kick me back into spaceâŠ?â
Pearl opened her mouth to snap that of course she couldnât actually kick the little ruby back into space, but then she reconsidered.  This oneâs naivete could actually work in her favor.  Assuming it wasnât an act like that other one⊠ But this ruby was a much darker red than the rest of her squad, and though the shade of a Gem wasnât always indicative of their age, hadnât one of the others called this one ânewbieâ?  âFine, Iâm not going to kick you back into space.  Yet.â
âHow old are you, anyway?â  That seemed to be a safe enough question.  And it might give her some more insight in how to deal with this one and how much of a threat she might actually be.  Any Homeworld Gem could be dangerous, but a newly-made ruby might pose somewhat less of a threat.
It was reassuring to hear that Pearl wasnât planning to kick her back into space, though the added in âyetâ made her a bit nervous. Did that mean Pearl was just going to kick her back into space later, or did it just mean sheâd only get kicked back into space if she did something wrong? She honestly wasnât sure, but that was hardly a new feeling for her.
âWell... Iâm only a few months old, if I recall correctly. That mission we were sent to Earth for was my first mission, and Iâd only been around for a few days.â She hadnât gotten the chance to see many gems, or really much of Homeworld, before she was shoved off on a mission with the rest of the Ruby squad. Most of what she learned in between then was from experience, or from being told so by her fellow Rubies. âIs it that obvious Iâm new to it all?â
Woah, since when did this happen?
tobeherknight:
gemnewbie:
Leggy didnât know what recent events Pearl was talking about, but she certainly wasnât going to just allow herself to be kicked away like that.
So, in what was supposed to be a genius idea on her part, she grabbed on to the other gemâs leg.
âHa! Now you canât kick me!â
âWhat?!â  She tried not to shriek, butâŠseriously?  Stars, where had this ruby even come from?  Pearl wasnât sure it was worth worrying about at that point.  If one could re-enter the atmosphere⊠Â
This one seemed almost playful, rather than angry.  Of course, Navy had beenâŠobnoxious, actually, if Pearl really wanted to be honest about it.  The sweetness had been cloying.  Even their Ruby, who was a genuine sweetheart, had a bit of an edge to her.
However, she definitely couldnât kick the ruby attached to her leg; that much was right.  Pearl rolled her eyes and grabbed the ruby by the shoulders, pulling her off and lifting her to be at eye level.  âThis would be an excellent time to tell me exactly what youâre doing hereâŠbefore I do kick you back into space. â She was exaggerating, of course, but surely the ruby could figure that much out.
While she was right about Pearl being unable to kick her, she hadnât been expecting Pearl to just pick her up. All she could really do, then, was dangle helplessly as Pearl confronted her.
Pearl was threatening to kick her back to space, and that, needless to say, made her very nervous.
