My theory on revelators parallels to chat blanc

What I understood from Revelator and its parallels to Chat Blanc is that it might be how it would end if Chat hadn’t wiped Rena’s memory.

Let’s take this scenario into consideration: Alya has expressed her spite toward keeping secrets/lying. If she hadn’t had her memory wiped, she probably wouldn’t have lasted long without telling someone—whether it be Nino, Adrien (I don’t want to think so little of her, but maybe even the Ladyblog, considering how mad Alya was at MariBug). The truth would spread, eventually reaching Adrien, who would be completely devastated ( I genuinely don’t think that telling Adrien about it sooner would help especially with him being such a wreck (who tries to hide it) right now (wrinkled shirt theory))

That episode might have implied that the truth is so dangerous it could actually destroy the world—if not revealed at the right moment—and that we were heading exactly down that path. Now, it’s Marinette’s responsibility to determine the right time to reveal the secrets.

Secrets don’t tend to stay hidden for long, especially when they involve such important matters, and I don’t think anyone expects her to keep it a secret forever. That’s exactly why, right now, the truth shouldn’t be revealed. There’s a right time for everything, and during both Revelator and The London Special, that time just hadn’t come yet.

I’ve also heard people say that Marinette acts selfishly by avoiding uncomfortable conversations and staying in her comfort zone. I tend to do the same, so I understand her completely. In my case, I just wait for things to evolve on their own and delay them as much as possible while mentally preparing for them—sometimes, it’s just for the best. Sometimes, you have to be selfish.

But enough about me—Marinette has been through so much that it’s basically a coping mechanism (in fact, it is exactly that). You can’t expect someone who’s so lost in her life, practically living on autopilot, not to rely on their coping mechanisms. We forget that she’s just a fourteen-year-old girl who doesn’t have enough experience to handle such complicated situations.

Give this girl a break. Life is already doing everything it can to crush her, and her mind is doing everything it can to keep her from collapsing. She has to do what’s best for her—sometimes, she has to think about herself, even if she is a superhero.

The unraveling will happen eventually—when the time is right, when the truth will cause the least harm to everyone involved.

It's interesting that present Marinette goes to that moment in Origins when her past self gave up her miraculous for a moment and meet with the Tikki for this time

Because if you think about it a little, meeting with future marinette made Tikki realize in the present that she was certain Marinette would comes around, and said many times in the show that she will be a great ladybug, because she saw what Future!Marinette did to stop the future holder of the butterfly.

THAT ADRIEN & CLAW SCENE..... that steals my breath honestly. adrien has the courage to face himself--pretty much the most side of him that could have won him over: full of grief and misery and shutting himself up inside and putting up barriers. like that's his vulnerable beauty!! is that adrien claws and digs and tries his BEST to be optimistic, to move forward, to move past all that which could crumble him. we've seen him in kuro neko and jubilation (I think? depression nest adrien you know?) where he succumbs and lays in bed and curls into himself.

and the fact he is looking at Claw through all of this, but looks away right when he says "I can't say I haven't thought about it" because it's shameful! ladybug is his partner and the love of his life and STILL he's thought about different scenarios. probably multiple times. that probably leaves him feeling so guilty for even entertaining the idea. he can admit many things to himself, but this one is hard.

and we know it will STILL plagues him after this, when he talks about the idea directly to ladybug in passion.

and that gentle little nod he gives himself... like yes, our mother. yes, I know every horrible thing that's in your heart because it is mine, too. he's just so gentle with himself, it's so endearing to me. it's a kind of fragile care with yourself when you've had the same conversation over and over again and it's tired and it's a bruise that you keep going back to, checking on it, tending to it, and yet that's just how grief is.

"I'm as well as I can be, anyway" HELLO? I mean we already thought of him as coping in multiple ways, but this means everything to me?? our adrien decides every day to try again, try to be happy as emilie wanted him to be.

(will he always settle? will he always feel there's a baseline? as well as I can be, anyway.....)

this is art, to me. hang this up. core adrien moment for me.

and then I realize that he has ALL this hope for himself, all this acceptance of that hate and grief and sorrow could manifest through him like this...

and then how by the end of s5, he's TERRIFIED of becoming the chat noir in his nightmares.

YOU KNOW THE SCENE WHERE griffe tries to steal toxinelle’s miraculous. and then she gets irrationally angry ‘why are you ALWAYS trying to steal my miraculous!!’ followed by -> ‘like you never try to steal mine!’ which is interesting to me. it seems he’s implying he only started because she did it first? which I don’t doubt. like for him, it’s retaliation, or trying to get ahead on one of her schemes. she tries to steal his, so he tries to steal hers. but she doesn’t see it that way

to HER, she has a rational motivation for this -> ‘id accomplish this better on my own!’ ‘ill be the one the supreme spares!’ whereas his are largely emotional responses to her thinking -> ‘oh YEAH?’ ‘YEAH???’ ‘in your dreams!!!’

so i feel like. to her. she’s oddly hurt in a sense she won’t share. she doesn’t think he’s CLEVER enough like her to want to STRATEGICALLY steal the other’s miraculous to accomplish the mission faster and win over the supreme. very much. i know why I want you gone, but why do YOU want me gone?? and almost immediately, when they are confronted by a kameko, she DEMONSTRATES that she needs him more than she can even care to express

on first glance, it looks like she’s using him as a human shield. but the WAY she goes about this is fascinating. she’s acting in fear, not combating the threat carefully or cleverly. obviously it wouldn’t be smart to SHOVE him into the kameko, but she doesn’t give him orders or attempt to circumvent the threat on her own -> showing that deep down, she DOESNT think she’s better off without him, and that on some odd level, she trusts him to protect them. to protect her

meaning. her insistence that she be the only one in charge of retrieving the butterfly miraculous is misguided -> she’s either been manipulated into thinking that OR it’s a form of self-sabotage and just how she builds walls when she’s under a lot of pressure (like someone else we know when she was forcibly entrusted with guardianship of the miraculous)

marinette reminds me of that one quote thats like “I am a mosaic of everyone I’ve ever known.” (or something like that leave me alone i cant find it.)

because of just how much she has been inspired and changed in some way by the people around her. like socqueline and alya? dont get me freaking started. her resilience and confidence and desire to do the right thing, her mother’s understanding, adrien/chat’s hope, their sense of justice and love and care for the world around them??? everyone shes ever met or connected to has left such a lasting impression on her character AND I THINK ITS BEAUTIFUL!!!!! MY DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!

Also. additional note. even SHADYBUG has left an impression on her. considering the timeline and how the special takes place before the finale, it makes so much sense how she wanted to see the good in monarch like she did for her (other) self.
