Hey Martyn! Youâve mentioned Apollo being apart of one of your deaths? Was that a epic reference? Many of us beleive so. If so Iâd like to quickly say that the cows belonged to Helios not Apollo!
I'm not sure what cows you're referring to?
I was implying / theorising that Apollo may have been involved with my passing from the mortal plane. Him and Artemis from what I've read were responsible at times for sudden death
If you are receiving a warning that your password has appeared in a data breach from another site and is no longer secure, you will need to change your password to a stronger one before you can log back in.
If you are still logged in on any device, please make sure your email address is up to date before logging out or resetting your password, or you may lose access to your account.
Check below the cut for information on how to check or update your email address, and how to change or reset your password.
Posted: 20:45 UTC 31 July, 2026
Please follow these steps to check and update your email address. If you don't know your password, or if your password is insecure, you will need to reset your password â which requires you to have access to your account's email address.
How do I check what my accountâs email address is?
If you are logged in:
Go to your Preferences page (Select "Hi, [USERNAME]!" at the top of the page, and choose "My Preferences" from the drop-down list)
Click on the âChange Emailâ button at the top of the page
Your email address will be listed on that page, next to âCurrent emailâ
If you are not logged in:
Check your email account for recent emails from AO3, such as subscription notifications or kudos and comment emails.
Look at the âTo:â field to see what email address is associated with your account.
You will need to enter this email address exactly as it is listed here in order to receive a password reset email. If you enter a slightly different version of your email address (e.g. "[email protected]" vs "[email protected]"), you will not receive the password reset email.
How do I change my email address? What if I don't have access to my old email address?
You don't need access to your old email address to change it to a new one, as long as you also know your current password.
Go to your Preferences page (Select "Hi, [USERNAME]!" at the top of the page, and choose "My Preferences" from the drop-down list)
Click on the âChange Emailâ button at the top of the page
In both the âNew emailâ and âEnter new email againâ fields, enter an email address that you have access to
In the âPasswordâ field, enter your current password
Click the âConfirm Emailâ button
On the next page, make sure that the banner displays the correct new email address
Click the "Yes, Confirm Email" button
Check your new email address for an email titled â[AO3] Confirm your email changeâ
Click on the confirmation link in that email, making sure to open it in a browser where you are already logged in
Go to the âChange Emailâ page and double-check that your âCurrent emailâ has been successfully updated.
If you still see the banner saying your email change is pending, the most likely reason for this is that you were logged out before you clicked the confirmation link. Make sure to log in to your account before following the email confirmation link, or open the link in a browser where you are already logged in.
I know my current password, but I'm afraid my password is insecure. How can I change my password to a stronger one?
First, refer to the above instructions for checking or updating your email address, so that you can receive a password reset in case your password is insecure. Then:
Go to your Preferences page (Select "Hi, [USERNAME]!" at the top of the page, and choose "My Preferences" from the drop-down list)
Click on the âChange Passwordâ button at the top of the page
Enter your current password into the âOld passwordâ field
Enter your new password into both the âNew passwordâ and âConfirm new passwordâ fields
Click the âChange Passwordâ button
You will be automatically logged out on all devices.
If, upon logging in, you receive a message saying your password is insecure, then the new password you chose was insecure and you can't use it to log back in. You will need to reset your password (refer to the below instructions) and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I don't know my current password/my password is insecure, but I know and have access to my account's email address.
In a private/incognito browser, go to the Reset Password page: https://archiveofourown.org/users/password/new (also available by clicking the âForgot Password?â link on the login form)
Enter the email address associated with your AO3 account
Check your email for the password reset email
Click the âuse this link to choose a new passwordâ link in the email
Enter a new, secure password
You will be automatically logged in on this device, and automatically logged out on all other devices.
If you continue to receive the message that your password is insecure, then the new password you chose was also insecure. You will need to reset your password again and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I tried resetting my password, but it didn't work. Help?
The most likely reasons the password reset didn't work are:
You are entering the wrong email address for your AO3 account. Refer to the above instructions on how to check what your account's email address is.
Your email provider is blocking emails from AO3 or sending them to spam/social folders. Search for an email titled â[AO3] Reset your passwordâ.
Your email account doesn't have enough storage and can't receive new emails. You'll need to delete old emails, photos, or videos to empty your storage before requesting a password reset.
You requested multiple password resets in a short time period, resulting in either a âRetry laterâ page or the link in the first password reset email becoming invalid. Please wait at least one hour before trying again, only submit the form once, and make sure you are using the link in the most recent password reset email.
The new password you chose was insecure, so you can't use it to log back in. You will need to reset your password again and select a more secure password this time. You can use a password generator to choose a stronger password.
I don't know my password/my password is insecure, and I don't know or have access to my account's email address.
You will need to submit a Support ticket containing the following information:
your username
your accountâs current email address (if you know it)
an email address that you can access and would like to update your account's email to (enter this email into the Email field so we can contact you)
Support will begin the account recovery process with you, which will ask you for further proof of account ownership. Please be patient, as there are many AO3 users who are also submitting account recovery tickets right now.
Fanfic writers, reblog if youâre okay with people sharing the links to your fics to their friends and/or for fic rec posts without having to ask for your permission first
(I saw a debate about whether or not it was okay for people to share fic links around without asking the authors first, since some authors may not be comfortable with the links to their fics being shared around on twitter or tumblr. so I thought this post could be a blanket permission for authors who were okay with the links to their fics being shared around!)
reminder that ao3 does not recommend typing directly onto their site. the site doesnât automatically save works for you. if the site crashes, if your wifi gets disconnected, if you lose power, if thereâs a glitch, you risk losing everything youâve typed down. type your work elsewhere. safe your work elsewhere. then copy and paste it onto ao3
wattpad really gave ao3 a huge free promo with their new policy update that makes things even worse for their users. so to all the people who are now moving to ao3 due to thisâŠ
welcome! here are what you need to know about ao3 and how itâs the complete opposite of wattpad
trigger warning for the mention of contents that are allowed on ao3 that can be triggering to some.
ao3 is a non-profit organization. itâs run by fans (people like you and me), for fans.
fans donate to the site on their own free will to keep the site up and running smoothly.
ao3 is not a social media. it is an archive.
ao3 doesnât have ads. it doesnât have algorithms. it doesnât have âgoing viral.â
everything is endlessly free on ao3. there is no âao3 premium.â you will never see a single ad on ao3, and you can download as many fics as you want to read offline for free.
ao3 doesnât have an app. and ao3 doesnât need an app. any âao3 appsâ you see are third-party apps and are not affiliated with ao3, so be careful giving these shady apps your login infos or other personal information.
ao3 was built with the main purpose to 1.) be completely against censorship and 2.) host fics that are banned on other platforms like wattpad.
the reason ao3 doesnât have an app is because for it to have its own app, appstore and google play store will have to approve it first. and due to the contents ao3 allow, chances are that it wonât get approved. which is actually a good thing. it doesnât need an app. it works more than fine without an app.
on ao3, every single thing is allowed as long as it is fanfic or fan work (original works, fan art and video edits count as fan works, but if you want to post a video edits on ao3, you will have to post it elsewhere and then link it back to ao3 â ao3 cannot host video edits on its platform due to copyright issues)
by every single thing that is fanfic, I mean every single thing:
the filthiest smut without plot that is written purely for sexual pleasure is allowed. it has its own canonical tag called âplot what plot, porn without plot.â
fics that focus on non-consensual sexual intercourse are allowed, doesnât matter if the fics glorify or romanticize the act, doesnât matter if theyâre written as kinks. they have their own canonical tag called ârape/non-con.â
fics about characters who are minors are allowed, even if theyâre portrayed in a sexual manner, even if theyâre non-consensual sexual intercourse. even if the minor characters are romantically and/or sexually involved with characters who are adults. even if they fics are written in ways that glorify and/or romanticize the thing. they have their own canonical tag called âunderage sex.â
fics about incest are allowed. doesnât matter if they glorify or romanticize the relationship. they have their own canonically tag called âincest.â fun fact: the first ever fic that was posted on ao3 was a fic about an incest ship from supernatural.
fics about self-harm and suicide are allowed. doesnât matter if they glorify or romanticize the act. they have their own canonical tags called âself-harmâ and âsuicideâ also âsuicidal ideationâ, âsuicide attemptâ, âimplied/referenced suicideâ, etc.
fics about violence and gore are allowed, even if they were written for the sake of shock value. they have their own canonical tag called âviolenceâ, âblood and goreâ, âblood and injuriesâ, etc.
rpf is also allowed. doesnât matter if the content of the fics are dark and taboo. theyâre treated the same way as any other fics.
every single dark and taboo fic you can think of is allowed. and it has its own canonical tag. because it is the main reason why ao3 was created in the first place.
âbut what do I do if I donât wanna see fics about xyz?â you can filter out any specific tag, character and/or pairing you want.
âwhat do I do if I wanna find fics about xyz?â you can search for any specific tag, character and/or pairing you want.
a lot of ao3 users rely on tags to search for specific tags, pairings, characters they want. they also rely on tags to filter out and exclude specific tags, pairings, and characters that they donât want to see.
ao3âs tagging system is by far the most efficient one Iâve ever seen.
on ao3, our main principles are âdonât like donât readâ â which means YOU have a responsibility to curate your own internet experience. yes, ao3 allows all kind of messed up fics, but they also allow you the ability to NOT see anything you donât want to see, by filtering out specific fics, pairings and/or characters.
no. you cannot harass authors who write about things that disgust you. you can and will be reported for harassment, and ao3 takes harassment very seriously. they will not take your side. because fucked up fics are allowed on ao3âfucked up fics are the main reason ao3 was createdâwhereas harassment is a direct violation of their terms of service.
ao3 is a house of the freaks and the perverts (affectionate). you ARE in the house of the freaks and the perverts. so donât think about harassing or being rude to the freaks and the perverts who built this anti-censorship house and are kind enough to let you in.
ao3 is proship, profic, and anti-censorship.
any writer can write whatever they want, however they want. the only etiquette is that you tag your stuff properly and accurately
mistagging for visibility is heavily frowned upon here, and it wonât get your works more views. people will either block or report you if you deliberately mistag things with the purpose of getting your fic more views. as Iâve said before, ao3 is an archive. itâs not a social media. it doesnât have algorithms or going viral.
if you come across a fic that has the tag âcreator chose not to use archive warningsâ it means the fic may or may not contain topics that can be triggering, but the author wonât tell you what these topics are, or if there are any at all. so proceed at your own risk.
that said, because ao3 is a non-profit site that hosts millions of works about othersâ copyrighted characters, you CANNOT link a monetization platform anywhere on ao3, you CANNOT mention any donation, commissionâor anything that involves moneyâanywhere on ao3. no, you cannot imply donation, commission, or anything that involves money either. that is against their terms of service.
and because ao3 is a place for fanworks, the âwork sectionâ of your post has to actually be fanwork (fanfic, original work, fan art, link to a video edit count as fanwork). anything that isnât fanwork is not allowed.
you cannot post something on ao3 that is not fanwork. so no political statement, no call-out post, no âIâm looking for fics about xyzâ.
ao3 is anti censorship as long as what your post is actually fanwork and as long as you donât violate their terms of service that Iâve mentioned above.
ao3 has their own team of lawyers to protect them, their users, and every fanwork that is posted on their platform.
last but not least, donât write directly onto ao3. write and store your works elsewhere before copy and paste them onto ao3 once theyâre ready to post!! because ao3 does NOT autosave drafts for you, you risk losing everything youâve typed if thereâs a glitch, if the site crashes or if your device unexpectedly shuts down for whatever reason.
thatâs all for now. have fun and happy writing/reading!
rich people should not be allowed to access, collect, modify or wear ancient artifacts as fashion statements. they're historical pieces that belong in public domains & should remain accessible to everyone. this especially applies to colonial artifacts & jewellery. end of discussion.
