Fearless Futures and The GREAT Inititive have teamed up to host the world’s first ever Gender Equality Accelerator! This is an amazing two week opportunity for ALL people 16-22yr who are passionate about gender equality and social justice and want to develop new and powerful tools to accelerate change. Dates: 10, 11, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24 and 26th August 2016. 9.30am - 4.30pm each day. What is a Gender Equality Accelerator? The Gender Equality Accelerator (GEA) will be an opportunity for you to put your knowledge of gender and connecting inequalities as well as your leadership skills into action to create real solutions to real world problems and in doing this accelerate the pace of change. Over the course of the you’ll be able to further develop your problem-solving, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills - in the world’s first ever accelerator of its kind - all within a fun, supportive and friendly community! What will we be doing? We will be creating solutions to problems as diverse as violence against women and girls, work experience issues, body image, the under-representation of identities in the media and young people’s participation in democracy. Solutions may include viral videos, social media campaigns or apps. You don’t need to have any previous experience at all in any of these areas as you’ll be supported along the way with an amazing team of professionals and experts. We just need you and your passion, commitment and enthusiasm to learn new skills! We will be able to have 20 people (all identities welcome) join us on the programme - if applications exceed this number we will make a decision that aims to mix people with different interests, and ensure a diverse group of people. If we are not able to take you on this occasion, fear not! There will be other exciting workshops soon :) Why should I get involved? Yes, actually, a few more things. :) Application deadline: 5pm, Friday 29th July In order to ensure that the solutions we create are as inclusive as possible across race, gender, class, sexuality and ability, we’ll be running a two day refresher on 10th and 11th of August Due to the nature of the programme, you need to be able to commit to the whole thing, including the refresher course. That this simply means maximum fun There will be a finale showcase on the final Friday evening to showcase the solutions - involving local press, business and other interested organisations.
