the 180 rule is broken here because its meant to represent the sudden shift in perspective, how so much of what people thought the world would look like was suddenly and violently flipped after 9/11

when squidward begins flying we watch the beginning from the perspective of an outside observer, it is something we are watching happen but from a perspective we would not be able to view the events from as a person unaided, it is something outside of reality

but once its clear what is happening suddenly everything becomes grounded, we are literally brought to the ground and watch from the perspective of someone in new york watching squidward hit the first tower, everything quickly becomes very real very fast, as the gravity of what is happening is revealed, breaking the 180 rule emphasises this: its confusing, like how many americans were confused when they suddenly realised that they were not as untouchable as they once thought
