Was she not suppose to say that? “It is exactly as I said: you’re not human” she repeats. “I’m a goddess, I should at least be able to tell between humans and nonhumans, right?” Sana points out as she stares down at her bottle, shaking it lightly.

“I... suppose so...” she slowly said, not having really thought it over. After all, this was the first non-human interaction she’s had in a very, very long time.”N-No one alive other than my master knows... It... It is not necessarily information that is wise to spread amount other humans, after all...” No, humans could be greedy if given too much power, and not greedy in good ways, either.

Hawke wasn’t sure what to say. He could read that she’s hurting on the inside from reading all of this, her monotone voice being the defining factor of it. That’s one hell of a thing to do on her old man’s part, seeing as the motivating factor for children being saved was her disappearance.

Strange how stuff like that turns out. Deciding to leave Cat with her thoughts, he gets up from the chair and pats her on the back briefly, as he gets back to changing into some suitable traveling clothes. Though he’s a bit envious, at least she’s aware of her family’s past, but not him.

The brunette glanced back up at the monitor before turning her back to it after a few passing seconds, returning to the small pile of neatly folded clothes. The shirt she held was folded up and gently placed on top of the stack, a hand rising up to brush her hair back.

No, today is suppose to be an enjoyable day, she thought, shaking her head slightly to herself. Do not get upset, many were found in result to my disappearance, many who otherwise would have never been seen alive again. The manor still stands and is cared for, it is alright.

A “?” did pop up for him when he was reading the article. Not sure if he remembered he mentioning that she had a wedding, therefore having a fiance. Well, logically it’s all in the past. The rest of the article did fascinate him. A father hurt by his daughter’s disappearance vowed to protect others. Thinking of his dad, as he seemed the type to go berserk the moment any of his family were in danger.

The address is what he needed, and the picture of Cat in the past was identical to her now, minus the long hair. Looking to her as he expected tears, seeing as this may be the first she’s read of her family post-disappearance.

The girl had gotten a little closer to see the screen, holding a shirt in hand still. She briefly read everything over, but tried to not let any emotions show, as truthfully she wasn’t quite sure how to feel herself. Her father created an entire charity that saved the lives of children in honor of her, never wanting another parent to go through the pain of losing a child. Cat swallowed dryly, especially once seeing the photo of the portrait. Truly she was identical to it expect for her hair, which was intentional, having kept her hair short and around her shoulders as the long hair reminded her of her past life.

Silently she straightened, as she was leaning forward a bit to see better. her gaze dropped to the shirt in her hands, having a bit of a grip to it. “Well... At least the manor still stands as is being cared for...” she murmured quietly, voice a bit monotone.

“Earl Walter Baxter Raywood” she answered, her back to him as she folded up her clothes to make them more compact. “If anything, you may discover things about his fencing and swordsmanship. He was the best in all of England, at least in my time with my family.”

Her curiosity began nipping at her, glancing back as she folded to see the screen, wondering what else would perhaps be public information about her father.

Well that’s a mouthful. He decided to just put his name up, maybe there’s a wikipedia on him. Explaining an off-hand mention of a daughter gone missing; though he doubted the whole best in all of England, but anything can happen.

After he puts in his name, he clicks enter and clicks on the first wiki page. The moment of truth.

The entry wasn’t void of information at all, being rather lengthy with different sections. Early life, competitions and skills with swords along with championships country-wide, practically everything about the man. It even gave the address to the large manor, showing photos from the outside of the genie’s original home.

One section included the entire case of Cat’s disappearance, explaining how the young bride vanished the night of her wedding without a trace, and how authorities searched for the missing girl and couldn’t come up with anything. It explained that Cat’s father, on the year mark of his daughter’s disappearance, vowed to never again have any child of England lost and unable to be found, and started a charity to ensure the safe return of abducted children, listing cases of found children thanks to it that returned home safely.

Near the bottom of the same section explained that the manor, in honor of both the missing noble and her family entirely, had become a museum generations later, funded by both the country and living descendants for upkeep and general operation of the large building. A photo of a portrait in the home was there, being of the parents and their three children, the eldest daughter back then with long hair and an expensive Victorian dress.

“Hm?” the woman’s head tilts to the side, eyebrows raising as the other took a step back. She couldn’t help but give an amused smile at the other’s reaction. “Caterina, hm, what a cute girl you are” she chuckles. “Ill you say. I see, well, given such a gift perhaps I should give my regards personally,” she wonders out loud taking another drink from the bottle. “Is your master, not human as well?” she asks.

“I-I am?” she questioned quietly, brows furrowing upward. The following question made her eyes widen, breathing hitching slightly. “P-Pardon? What-What do you mean?” Does she know? How could she have known, I have not spoken of it. Her mind began to panic, trying to keep it from showing in her face or body language despite already being rather tense.

Remembering that he’s naked, he finally got himself some clean boxers and a shirt. He got onto his computer and went onto the search engine Boogle. “So, tell me your old man’s name, hopefully something pops up, though i’m curious if the manor still stands considering it’s been a few hundred years.”

Chances are it’ll be up in way of it being a tourist trap of some sort.

“Oh, I see,” Marcos said, nodding to her. Given her body language, she kind of looked quite lost. “If you’re waiting for someone, it might take a while because the students are in classes now. I’m a researcher here, so I’m not in classes.”

A soft sigh passed her lips, Cat looking back in the general direction in which the girl she waited for had went. “I imagined that perhaps to be the case... Seems I will continue to wait here. Goodness, I hope my book will last long enough...” She couldn’t even get another if she finished the last hundred pages or so, seeing as the library only allowed registered students to get books. The curiosity couldn’t be helped, the girl looking forward at him a again with a curious look to her expression. “If I may, what is it that you research?”

The safe itself still looks the same, nothing too high-tech but neither obsolete; it’d take some real effort to break into it. And this place is in the middle of…nowhere really.

And if anyone wanted to rob this place, they’d have to get through Hawke’s old man. Judging by the various firearms also in the closet (that are unloaded and in spots where you would have to intentionally grab them to use them), Jack must have an entire armory somewhere in the house.

Some more minutes go by and the shower stops, Hawke realizes he forgot to bring in a clean pair of clothes to put on after the shower. After drying himself off, he get out of the bathroom and walks towards his cabinet of clothes. “So, I don’t know much about London, it’d be best if I took a look online of nearby inns and such to stay in.” Then a lightbulb in his head. “Right, and find the exact address of your family’s manor.”

Cat froze, wondering for a moment if she even remembered the address. She remembered the location, but if London has changed much since, that may not be as helpful. “I hope it still stands...” she said aloud, though more so to herself than to Hawke. “With how famous my father was in London and how old it is, it must still be around...”

She shook her head, pushing those thoughts out of her mind. “Word of advice, not near the clock tower. When it would ring, all the windows of buildings around the immediate area would rattle, and it would ring every hour on the hour.”

Bathroom was used, and a minute goes by until the shower turns on. Thinking on what to bring, he figures just his usual backpack with a change of clothes, hygiene products, and an inconspicuous pistol with a few magazines for protection and his retractable nightstick.

Protection. As for Cat, he wonders if she knows about London in this current time or if the only thing she remembers about it was from her childhood.

Cat finished choosing her clothes rather quickly, the excitement beginning to truly be felt, but along with it came the nerves. Already she expected to see drastic changes— it has been well over a century, of course. But, she hoped not too much would be different.

There was a pause when her eyes spotted the safe in which her lamp was locked away inside. Instantly her mind thought back to the man who owned it before, how he left town and returned to find the lamp gone. That would not happen this time... would it? It is locked away, surely it must be strong. Still, she refused to run the risk, not wanting to be taken away from Hawke, as there was no way she could return if so.

Letting out a breath, she concentrated for a moment before snapping her fingers, placing a spell on the safe itself, one that made it so only two people could open it: Hawke, and her. With it came the white, glittering cloud of magic lasting only a second around the safe, her, and surely Hawke in the bathroom, as they were a part of her spell. Just in case.

“Unless we’re going to the countryside, London is full of cars that drive on the wrong side of the road.” He stayed silent for a few more moments, enjoying the affection Cat is giving him.

Sitting up, he stretches and speaks. “Now, let’s get ourselves ready before I throw myself at your body.” Being aware is at least a step up in getting over this addiction.

He gets up and goes into the bathroom.

The brunette playfully rolled her eyes with a little smile, sitting up and stretching. Getting off the bed, she opened the curtains to let some light in, squinting a little at first before her eyes adjusted. Maybe just a small bag with some clothes would suffice? I can always just snap up more for us.

The genie walked to the closet, looking through what she had decided to save and pulling out some shirts and pants, assuming it may be a bit chilly there as even in the summer, it was rather cool back then.

Great. Now she was apologizing. A ‘sorry’ should be enough, but now she kept making a scene out of her apology. She even pulled a bow, it made him feel a bit bad for calling her attention indirectly. She did confess she wasn’t good with people and Marcos was willing to believe that it was the case, she looked so clumsy with words. It was a good thing the place was nearly empty.

“That’s okay, don’t worry about it,” he said, waving his hand dismissively. He decided to change the topic of conversation, “Do you study here, Catarina?”

“No” she answered, looking back to him. “I am not a student here, I am merely waiting for someone. I just... I am not quite sure how long I shall be waiting, or how long this even takes.” Oh she knew she must have sounded so naive, or even ignorant, but truth was she truly didn’t know. She never went to school, she had private tutors that came to her, and those lessons were only an hour each once a week, not several times a week. It was strange to her, seeming more like a temporary prison than anything else.

“It has only been recently that I arrived here, so I am rather new to the area.”

“Your Master, and who are you?” the goddess questions, pink eyes narrowing slightly examining the other. “He couldn’t come himself, why? What does he want with me?” Sana questions as she takes a white bottle from the basket. She uncorks the bottle with a pop, sniffing it a few times. Ah, it was good alcohol. “It seems quite expensive” she grins. The bottle was lifted to her mouth taking a ginger swallow. “Ah, it’s good!” It was something she expected of someone who wanted her to do something along with her blessing.

The sudden questions were a bit overwhelming, as she expected to simply set the basket with her master’s offerings and leave. “M-My name is C-Caterina” she stuttered out, a bit nervous and taking a step back. “He is ill, and-and cannot make the trip himself. I was ordered to in his place. A-As for why, he simply told me because he wishes to h-honor you.”

She made a mental note to inform her master that the woman enjoyed the drink, as he made it a point to find the perfect one. To her, it was all the same, the girl not one to drink anything.

“Oh, thank you, Ms. Caterina,” he said, as polite as he could, but he couldn’t help but to be a little bothered by her telling him to fix the hole in the bag. Couldn’t she think that he’s too poor to buy a new bag? As an anime he watched would say “these darn rich people”.

Granted, he wasn’t that poor to the point of not affording a new bag. He was just lazy and he was trying to learn how to knit. Thus, why would he buy a new bag when he could just fix his? (On the other hand, the fact that the patch didn’t hold up was a good reason why).

“I’ll remember that.” He said, this time forcing a smile. “I’m an assistant researcher to senior faculty and my teacher would chew me alive for losing this book. So I might buy a new bag.” He wouldn’t, especially not because a random upper class women told him so.

The forced smile was noticed— after all, she was not at all unfamiliar with it herself. She swallowed dryly, feeling the embarrassed blush form as it lingered in her mind, nodding along to his words as she listened. “I am glad I noticed it then before it would be lost.” Cat paused, hesitating, her fingers fidgeting with the sleeve of her jacket, as it was a bit breezy.

“I... I apologize if I have perhaps sounded rude, please believe that it was not at all my intentions.” Her hair fell forward as she bowed her head, looking almost a little tense. “I am not too use to speaking to others, so I am aware I may at times come off as rather... straightforward... My deepest apologies.”

Of course, spending decades alone does that to a person, any people-skills that remained put up to the test whenever she was exposed to others. Her plan of simply reading and keeping to herself while waiting did not include helping someone who could have potentially lost something of value.

The early morning went by, and soon enough, Hawke starts to wake up. Giving a small yawn and readjusting the hug he’s got on her. “So…Where exactly do you live?” Saying softly, as he assumes she’s awake.

Even when awake, he still takes comfort with his face buried onto her chest.

“Good morning to you too” she said with a soft giggle. “And you mean before? I lived in a large manor just on the edge of London, a very, very old one that had been in my father’s family for generations. It was far away enough to not hear the busy sounds of the city, as hearing the roads full of horse carriages was a constant noise.”

As she had before they fell asleep, her fingers played with his hair, moving her legs a bit to stretch them now that he was awake.

“Oh,” Marcos said, turning around. He did notice he had let one of his books fall from the bag. He then took a look at his bag and noticed the patch broke again, this time the hole was big enough for a small book to fall off. He scratched the back of his head and said, “Thank you!” He said, picking the book. “This is an important book for my research, Ms…” he said, while giving an opening for her to tell her name.

“Caterina Raywood” she softly introduced, smiling lightly. “It certainly did look important. Thankfully it fell when someone was around to notice it.” The area seemed rather empty, Cat wondering if it was simply that a majority of people were in their classes, as there were times when the campus seemed to be very busy, and then silent again. She had been waiting for a while, after all, and would continue until the student she waited for was done completely with school for the day. “Perhaps fixing the hole in your bag soon may prevent another possible loss.”

“Ah, it’s been an awfully slow” the goddess lets out a heavy sigh as she lays down on the wood floor in her shrine. No offerings at all today. “How melancholic” Sana complains as she closes her eyes. All she wanted was alcohol, but she didn’t want to make it for herself. Her shrine maidens were all off cleaning, so that left Sana by herself and bored; none of her shows were on which made it worse.

It seemed like the goddess spoke too soon feeling someone approach her shrine. Curiosity caused the woman to stand up, golden bracelets around her wrists jingle as she stands up. Going out and approaching the girl from the side, her head tilted. “Is that for me?” Sana questions, a soft smile went to her face.

She had to admit, the sudden voice of the woman startled her, the brunette flinching as she had a stumble in her step, spinning to see her. She looked like the description given, and no one else appeared to be around. This must be her.

“Y-Yes” she stuttered out, adjusting her hold on the basket as she almost had it slip from her grasp.”M-My master requested I bring it, as he could not do so personally. He-He hopes that it pleases you.” Her eyes flickered down for a moment, moving the golden cloth over to reveal three bottles of alcohol, each a different color as she assumed each was perhaps different taste.

As per usual, Cat was the one to wake up first, always having been a bit of an early bird as it was a habit that never went away from growing up. The sun was just barely beginning to light up the sky, Cat moving slightly as she stirred awake but pausing when seeing Hawke still using her chest as a pillow.

She remained relatively still afterwards, closing her eyes again but mind already beginning to work, wondering what should be brought with them, if anything, since she could snap up anything they needed once there so long as no one was around to see her.

He slept like a log, still in nearly the exact position he was before he passed out for good. The dreams he was having was of what fun was to be had in London. Seeing new places and such.

The thought of the gun laws were in mind. Unbeknownst to him, they’re banned for citizens for the most part. Ironically enough, guns are in his mind much more than the “fun time” he was promised by Cat.

The sun slowly rose higher, light softly filling the room through the curtains, just enough to see but not enough to be blindingly bright either. Cat resisted the want to get up and get ready, seeing as Hawke slept soundly on top of her. He needed as much energy as she did, the day certainly guarenteed to be a long one.

Cat opened her eyes, taking in a slow breath before letting it out softly, almost wondering if she should ty to sleep a little more. But I am not tired, she thought, deciding to just patiently wait for Hawke to wake up.
