He sat quite still for a long moment, arms folding stiffly across his chest; the tips of his fingers twinging. He listened—-or rather endured, in silence; willing the sound to become white noise ringing in his ears—which may have passed closer to the truth, in any case.
Then he stood up, silver locks framing his features, lips tautly drawn. “—this scene has overplayed its welcome.” He looked off, seemingly with the intent to depart.
He looked over the other with the same close, narrow-eyed scrutiny------then, finally, he shrugged his shoulders, glancing down at one of his bedazzled hands. His voice was more nonchalant now, but there remained something a little pointed about it, his lips giving a small tug at either corner. "Suit yourself, Kujie-coo. Just don't forget who's doing the heavy lifting.” He paused here, scarlet lips pursing------then concluded, peering up at the other from under lowered lids.
“You won't like what happens if you do.” He wagged a finger, his mouth bent into a faint, lingering curl.
