1973 Jeep Wagoneer – $3000 OBO

Well, it’s time to say goodbye to my good friend. I bought this Wagoneer several years ago while living in Montana as a fun vehicle to haul stuff and to have something vintage in the driveway that’d be fun to work on. A couple moves and a baby later, I realize it’s been sitting and frankly, I need the cash more than the fun right now. Currently located in Omaha, Nebraska (I have amazing year-of-manufacture plates for a Nebraska buyer, should you want to register it as vintage).

THE GOOD: Very original, with the cool 1970s green interior. Factory lap belts. Even the dash has been kept pretty much intact, which is nice. Tow hitch. The biggest plus is the AMC 401 V8 under the hood. Factory rebuilt Holley Truck Avenger carburetor. Talk about a sleeper! This is the big V8 made by AMC at the time, and not the standard 360 most Jeeps had. Engine ran pretty well, I went through the brakes and most of the other rubber bits when I got a hold of it. Tracked down vacuum leaks and things that made it run hot. Guy before me wanted to convert it to a family rock climber of all things, so it comes with lots of extra bits and parts and things, including another set of heads, crank … all kinds of stuff. Boobie grille. Rear window works, technically. Clean and clear title ready to go!

THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Wouldn’t start sometime last year, put it off because I’m busy. Went out to take a look and it’ll crank but not turn over. No fuel in the glass fuel filter so I figured it was the fuel pump. Bought the fuel pump and … it’s been months and I haven’t had time to put it on, so that’s included in the parts pile as well. Of course, there’s rust in the body, especially in the rear fenders, which is typical on these. There is also a bit of a crunch on the passenger side front fender where a previous owner hit a deer I was told. It’s visible in photos. Driver’s seat has splits in the original vinyl as well.
