I had a dream about famous horror manga artist Junji Ito yesterday
This only further reinforces my thought that Junji Ito and David Cronenberg should collaborate. Two perfectly pleasant old men who nevertheless are masters of their macabre crafts. If Cronenberg ain't game, I'll take the Junji Ito + John Carpenter collaboration, please and thank you.
i'm like a fujoshi but for dead people
if you could see the thread i'm hanging on by you would not say these things to me
Dante Alighieri?

it just gets better
and better
This reminded me of a David Cronenberg interview where he explained that he lived a pretty idyllic childhood and he got along well with his parents and has no traumatic baggage, dude is just in it for the love of the horror and gore.
Found the interview! It's the end of the interview. If you can't be arsed to read it or don't want to give vulture dot com any traffic, here's the excerpt...

[07/14] I DESPISE THIS FUCKING PLACE!
Reign in Blood fucks really hard, but Slayer's best record is still God Hates Us All. And you're probably sitting here about to tell me to go fuck a bucket of dogshit or something worse for daring to suggest that Slayer's best record was made with someone other than David Lombardo behind the drumkit, and I'm about to tell you that Lombardo's greatest contribution to the world of metal drumming is either for Testament's The Gathering...
Fantomas' The Director's Cut
Or the last record from Grip Inc.
Again, this is just a hot take, but yeah: Slayer's best record, imo, is their angriest one, the one they made fully away from Rick Rubin's influence ("oh, but he's listed as executive producer!" I hear you say, person I made up for the sake of this argument, but as of lately, I'm thinking Rick Rubin™️ has been kind of a fraud for a good while now), one of the record that a lot of people turned their noses up about because of comparisons with nu-metal. --- And I'm here to tell you: Fuck those people, right in the ear.

the irredeemable pervert is generally well regarded among their friends for their insightful thoughts and all around pleasant demeanour

Stoner, Metalcore & Punk Bands (90's proto-emo/hardcore bands like Fugazi and Quicksand also work)
King of Fighters (94 to 2000 and XIV-XV, ideally)
Mainline Shin Megami Tensei (I don't mind Persona, but I do vastly prefer the atmosphere of the mainline games)
Fun movies.
Fun books (fiction and non-fiction).
Art.
I think more "mainstream" bands and artists should start using extended range guitars. Like yeah, I love playing some Psycho-Frame and Pig Destroyer on my 7 and 8-string guitars, but wouldn't it fuck severely hard that some kid saw like, idk, Tom DeLonge, Patrick Stump or whichever other aging pop-punker that gets them kids invested in wanting to play a guitar, and they were playing an 8-string guitar instead of whatever normie stuff they play? --- Do you know how fucking wild it is that it's Ed Sheeran, that English redhead motherfucker, the one who's leading the vanguard with a slamming baritone?
A goddamn PRS, too! I think the only mainstream metal artist who's experienced that much success with an extended-range guitar is, what, Matt from Trivium? Maybe Mark and Misha from Periphery?
--- Anyway, I need more mainstream artists selling 7 and 8-string guitars.
Fuck Oliver Cromwell.
you are fifteen thousand generations removed from stone tools
to be clear you are fifteen thousand generations removed from the invention of stone tools. not from the end of stone tools. modern humans are still using stone tools.
Flawless tags, @baddywronglegs
I thought you meant we were descendents -of- stone tools

Well, the cursed-ness of the guys running it's anime spin-off is one thing but to give points against RWBY itself being cursed in the almost 14 years it's existed no real scandals have come up for it's main creatives. Even when it's parent company was getting in trouble for discrimination most of the whistle-blowers were like "the RWBY guys were chill tho." Also the voice cast from that spin-off carried over from the main show's official dub.
idk, that makes them feel even more cursed, doesn't it? chill dudes, just wanting to honor their friend/boss' memory and make some money along the way, but they keep running into increasingly weirder and weirder shenanigans... yet the series refuses to die. Like the clumsy french waiter on that one Simpsons episode.
(yes, everything comes back to The Simpsons with the dumbass writing this, lmao)
I do think we should remember that Vic Mignogna was a creep and a sexual harasser of teens, but other than that… yeah.
Oh shoot, I had completely forgotten about that guy and how he was sorta everywhere in voice-over/dub voice-acting for over a decade. As I mentioned in the original post from which I reblogged with my take, my direct experiences with RWBY are almost exclusively related to:
Playing BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle and...
Watching the Ice Queendom anime, so I wasn't super familiar with the original cast.
M'bad. 😔
