this option was interesting to me despite that it didn't seem to affect (this) outcome. because by this point in the fight, you're probably fucking pissed, you're mashing quick time reactions like a pro, and you have very little time to actually think about what you're doing before you do it

because the thing is I'm not actually sure if doing nothing leaves Kris high and dry or if it's what they wanted

Flowery's dialogue right before this decision about how Kris is alone is probably supposed to make you think, "wait, they aren't alone! I'm here!" and you can heroically help them land the final blow.

except that doesn't seem to happen? You deflect Flowery with the strike and he's hurt, then Kris steps back, the smoke clears and they're fucking dead. we don't see what happened, it's like there was a timeskip, but it looks like they let (?) Flowery strike them in the end.

and the same basic thing happens if you don't strike. Kris hangs back and braces for impact (Flowery gets to wind up his fist for this one)

so what do you think, is not striking leaving Kris out to dry or is it just enabling the mercy they wanted to show anyway?

these are good points. Susie is usually the one telling Kris to seal it:

I'm betting (but not very much) that the flowers Susie put on Kris in the weird route are Marigolds

(mostly because the symbolism potentially goes very hard, but Asgore does have some)

On the positive end you've got things like Bravery and Determination which are both concepts directly linked to Orange (the Bravery soul trait) and Susie

but the flower crown Susie places on Kris breaks apart, so on the negative end the Marigold wreaths symbolize death, grief and despair

but specifically for their use in the Day of the Dead, marigolds help guide the spirits of loved ones back to their loved ones, and wherever Kris winds up in the weird route, they're gone
