“A friend?” Was he building a bug then? But this pile of snow was way too big for that! Or was he about to build some huge insect thing? Ew… The bug hating boy wasn’t really fond of that thought. Though, who really knew, maybe Gonta simply meant an usual snowman as well. But somehow Kokichi doubted that…
“Hmm? C’moon Gonta, this is war! Of course people will get hurt! It’s a snowball fight about life and death, and that’s exactly why I need you on my side! You have to keep an eye on me, riight? Who knows, maybe I get killed by a really big snowball, or worse: Maybe I’m gonna hurt someone with my powerful attacks!”
Of course this was all nothing but lies. No one would get seriously hurt by a snowball fight. Though, Kokichi could imagine that if Gonta would use all his strength, he could leave a lot of bruises on his opponents. But hey, he was here to win!
“Okay, okay, I admit it, I just totally lied to you. It’ll be harmless fun, really! So c’mon, you should join me now!”
Throughout that entire explanation, Gonta’s staring at Ouma with a face that says he doesn’t believe him. This isn’t the first time Gonta’s seen a snowball fight, and he’s observed enough of today’s to know that it’s nothing that serious. People are smiling, laughing... It’s just Gonta’s own strength that he’s worried about. On top of everything, though, Gonta just doesn’t like that Ouma would joke around like that. The last thing he ever wants to hear is jokes about his friends dying, especially with what he already knows about his supreme leader friend’s demise. Kaito had told him, so long ago...
The entomologist sighs through his nose, looking serious for a moment.
“Don’t talk like that, please, Ouma-kun.” Gonta looks back down at his snowbug-in-progress, feeling turned off entirely to the idea of snowball fighting. “I don’t want to. Sorry... Building with snow can be fun, but if you don’t think so, you can go join everyone over there. Maybe Gonta will later.”
