went to half price books (normal) acquired a copy of The Year's Best Science Fiction And Fantasy Volume Fifteen (specific) and The Gates of Creation by Philip Jose Farmer (even more specific) and The Lavalite World by Philip Jose Farmer (clear sign you are not dealing with someone who's normal about 1970s sff sorry)

also a copy of Fourth Wing but I honestly do not think that's gonna stand up to my occasional frantic rereadings of the Pern series. like I know the ancient magic here, I fear that this will be at best a pale imitation and at worst a blasphemous mockery.

also why the hell did the store have a full column of shelves just filled with piers anthony. I'm not supposed to be buying any more of his work because it makes me mad. why must you tempt me like this
