‘Athenaeum’ is a history magazine I came up with for my last editorial module at uni. The idea for the design of the front cover and article was to create imagery that expressed the theme of knowledge. Within my research I started to think of how we might see knowledge if it was visible. I’ve been rather obvious within my delivery of this, for example lots of brains but I felt they worked to create interesting design that was simple and didn't distract from the article it’s self.
I’ve never been very good at letterpress!

Front cover for a magazine that I’ve decided to scrap, but I quite like this experiment!
Digital Collage for article- layers of 17th century illustrations and brain scans.
At the moment I am working on historic Magazine for students within my editorial module for uni- the article I was given focused on prodigies, or ‘wunderkinds’ in the 17th century. As I am a very visual person I started to consider how one might see knowledge, as my article was heavily based on intelligence. I’ve tried to consider how we can see a thought process. Here I’ve made a digital collage of over lay images that are suggesting neurone in the brain.
