With the power cutting out and the prospect of being trapped inside with her father during a storm looming in the balance, Josephine made quick work of bundling up and setting off into the night. It wasn’t the most intelligent decision, sure, but anything beat being stuck at home with no way out. The library was maybe a fifteen minute walk from her side of town, and the lab was another ten from there. The journey was long, and cold, but relatively peaceful; there was something relaxing in the silence it provided. Her newfound solace was fleeting, as the fence came into view, she spotted someone else standing there. Seems that they had the same idea as her. “What the hell are you doing?” She questioned, forgetting that she was more or less doing the same thing as the shadowy person stood in front of her. “You lost or are you up to no good?”
She had gone to the library mostly because her home felt suffocating. It was too quiet, it felt like there was something ominous looming. It made her anxious, the sort of terrible silence that kept her on edge. She had begun to pick at her cuticles, a tic she had since she was a little kid, before deciding she couldn’t stay in. So, she didn’t, and headed to the one place she could find solace in silence- the library. She was about to enter when she heard a familiar voice. Georgie turned on her heel, eyeing her friend with a blank stare. “Take a guess,” she said, shoving her hands into her pockets. “What the fuck are you doing out here, Jo?”
