Traditional Otavalo lady - they don't where the felt hats - but instead, if anything, fabric on their heads. They have lots of big heavy necklaces and again, hand embroider all their colourful blouses and belts, the long skirts are hand weaved. Entire outfits can take months to make and cost thousands to buy. I bought a belt off this lady, as a decorative piece. Georgina Mallett Photographer.

Otavalo food market - this place was full of beautiful colours, textures, compositions and faces! It was set out almost like a pyramid - the outer circle was full of fresh fruit and vegetables - massive, home grown, colourful looking fruit and vegetables. I bought a lb of strawberries that were the size of 3 fingers for 50 cent! Then I went into the first inner circle - full of meat! Chicken - cow - fish - guinea pig - pig - heads - feet - livers - hearts - heads - tongue - squid - fish heads - fish tails - crabs - prawns - EVERYTHING! They were hanging and stacked up on top of each other, out in the open in 30 degree heat - smelled 'fresh', little kids looked bored out of their minds, being on fly swatting duty. The second inner circle consisted of grains - corn - lentil - pasta - cous cous - quinoa - kidney beans - green beans - butter beans all in big hessian sacks. Then in the centre was take out lunch areas, so many stalls cooking and selling lunches, where many people ate. Very interesting. Georgina Mallett Photographer

Otavalo market - the largest indigenous, handmade craft market in the whole of South America! I could get lost in the colours and face of the people here! Georgina Mallett Photographer.

Goodbye feast from my homestay. All traditionally made and grown on their farm. Includes, rice, mixed with vegetables and pork, flour fried potato cakes, corn and bean mix, beef meatballs, fried plantain, avocado and Quimbolitos, the steamed in banana leaf, flour cakes with raisins in. San Clemente's local community school. All the local children in this community go to this school, from the age of 6 - 12. They learn basic maths, reading, writing, art and religious studies, along with other practical skills, ie cooking, weaving, building. Along with a lot of play time. The school consists of  2 small classrooms, this playground and field. They have 2 teachers (both women from the community) and around 30 children. If they want to attend further education, they must catch a long bus into the city down the mountain. The children also receive a lunch/snack, which consists of potato, rice and beans. I had lots of fun, playing and helping the children within the school, trying to practice Spanish and giving photography lessons, I was sad to leave. Georgina Mallett Photographer
