❃ Ceremoniously || Aridai + Maata
As the sun was setting and the lamps started to glow outside of the teahouse, a certain waitress was donning traditional silk and headdress as the little old tea woman set out the tableware along with the help of family members who were sure not to break anything. Graceful as they placed tiny jade spoons next to equally tiny cups, the men and women of the little old tea woman’s family expertly put things in their place according to culture and custom. English teas were on the far left of the house, whilst Eastern type cultures were on the right, signifying the entire spectrum of tea and tea culture.
Maata was to be assisting with Eastern tea ceremonies that evening. After donning her kimono, and painting her face, she sat atop a rug and started pouring herself something to drink as she waited for the house patrons to arrive.
Sighing to herself, the former geisha (not that she knew it), hummed as she waited. for what seemed like almost an hour though it was, in actuality, only several minutes. The woman looked down at her cup, pouring a second before receiving a tap on the shoulder, instantly springing to life, almost dropping her tea.
"Shape up! Customers are inbound, and you’ve got to be charming!" The old lady hissed, Maata blinking and swallowing thickly, sitting up straight, her hands placed atop her lap, folded like a lily. She looked every bit as graceful as she once was, even confident and beautiful. She glowed with the pride of her profession. Soon there were people flooding in. Looking towards a man, she locked eyes and then bowed her head, bringing a fan to her face to hide her smile.
”Welcome to the Teahouse. Are you here for the tea ceremony?”
In his line of work, knowledge and information was key. No successful thief could allow himself to make mistakes (and when you stood in the middle of a gallery, heaven versus hell battles inscribed in the walls, you had to know where to go.) On a daily basis, culture didn't actually pique his interest; there's the bare minimum encoded safely in his mind, names of all paintings worth his attention, musical pieces he could play on three different instruments, sets of items from twenty, fifty, hundred years ago people would pay millions for, but nothing beyond that.
Needless to say, when he swings by the local teahouse, it's not with historical exploration on his mind. There's a set of porcelain teaware -- Eastern, if he recalls correctly -- a certain collectioner is willing to strip himself naked for. It works for Aridai; chances are, the owners don't even realize the worth of said equipment, and it shouldn't be too suspicious (a cultural day left them with their doors open, didn't it?) For now, he'd only recon, anyway, knowing better than to steal in broad daylight.
"Sure," she's dressed like a Geisha, smooth curves and pure white, and it's a jackpot, considering the set he's looking for. Unsure about the visuals (he was given a brief description, but nothing too detailed) he can definitely use someone who knows their way around, lips curving into a quick, pleasant smile to appease the public. "Can you lead the way? I'm afraid this is my first time here," bleak gaze wanders around, looking for his possible target, but when he speaks, he looks her in the eyes, all but ill-mannered.
