âI know⊠Iâm sorry about thatâŠâ Grant ran a hand though his hair. âIt would have been different for me too,â he shrugged, not wanting to think about his stupid teenage choices he made when it came to relationships. âBecause they couldnât do anything better with their time, so they decided to use it to hurt other people,â he shook his head. âI bet theyâre not anywhere as amazing as we are right now. Those are the people who donât deserve any of your time. I know itâs been years, but they should learn to get over their pride before anything else,â he took a deep breath. âBecause I knew they were wrong and I knew you were more amazing than anything. I believed in you. I still do, Stef.â He smiled and linked their fingers, scooting closer. âIâm a lucky guy to be in this spot right now,â he said softly. âYeah⊠weâre here. No oneâs going to hurt us here.â
"You have nothing to be sorry for.â Stefani shook her head quickly at his eagerness to apologize for something that had nothing to do with him. He couldnât be there every single moment of their teenage years. That was her decision and she most likely would have told him to go away if he tried to change her mind back then, too, so it wasnât like he could have changed her mind. Not with how stubborn she was. âDoes that mean weâre not supposed to talk about them right now then? Since weâre wasting our time on them? Iâm not exactly sure how this works.â She trailed off with a laugh, not even sure if she was making sense. Sometimes the pain medicine she was on tended to make her ramble and not make any sense. âAnd I believed in you too, Grant. Always. Look at you being a big shot doctor now.â She moved her head closer to his, lips hovering above his own, âMhm. Although, Iâd have to argue that Iâm the lucky one right now.â
