Nobody who points out antizionists are seemingly completely unconcerned with any other country's faults is trying to say Israel is necessarily like those countries. It's obvious that to bring up Muslim "ethno"states with very explicit religious based hierarchy is not to say "Israel is like these and you only complain about Israel, that's singling it out and that's not fair," it is to say "Here are places doing the things you accuse Israel of doing and ignore all evidence to the contrary, yet you've never drawn any attention to their injustices and their culture and people don't elicit a disgust response from you, what do you say to that?"

And it's so easy to dodge this argument, just say "Fine I condemn Hamas too, so now can we discuss Israel's crimes?" or something like that. You can sidestep it, because it itself is not a great argument... to me at least. Like, all humans are hypocritical, at some point, for certain ideas, to varying degrees. Calling someone a hypocrite and then dusting off your hands is a logical fallacy for a reason. But it's a tightrope to carefully walk, because I think it's good to engage with people and ask them to examine the cause of this specific hypocrisy. Most won't, but at least one can say one tried.

Honestly, the best way to disprove the accusation of genocide against Israel is this:

It's been over 2 years now. Israel is a nuclear capable state and is clearly overwhelmingly stronger then Hamas, the only military force in the region that is "defending" Gaza. Hamas is so much weaker than Israel that it can't fight following the rules of war, or they'd already be without members. Which means Israel has literally nothing stopping it from exterminating the population of Gaza.

Gaza is about the size of New York City. It has a population of 2 million. So far, even Hamas claims only about 65k people have died.

If extermination is the goal, why is Israel failing so hard at it? It's been 2 years, they are clearly strong enough to have thoroughly exterminated a population of that size by now. So either Israel is completely incompetent and much weaker than we think (which is disproven by their own actions) or it's just not possible that extermination is the goal here.

The slow and steady genocide theory is definitely brought up in tandem with the "75 year genocide," that notion that every act Israel has ever done since it declared independence was in the service of snuffing out the Palestinian people (or their culture). I also never said immigrants' fear was "frustrating." I quite explicitly remember saying I understood the fear. I only noted, again, that it's interesting just how many Leftists have come to start using terms like "blood libel," "pogrom," and of course, "Holocaust" in the wake of Al-Aqsa Flood.

And I'll say it again: being so vehemently opposed to Jewish self defense, caring not at all for a thousand Jewish lives snuffed out in a single day, mocking survivors and their families, whining "what about" before a single IAF bomb fell in Gaza... but then suddenly using the specific terms like blood libel and pogrom to talk about violent rhetoric against non-Jews? What are we doing here?

And how many immigrants are even talking like this? It's the white citizen "allies" who are talking like this anyway. It's also a red flag that Zohran Mamdani said, on camera, that Palestine was a cornerstone of his political development, and it's a core part of his identity now. Because he of course sees it as emblematic of the ills of the world. This is left wing populism.

He has that one unattainable pet issue and everything else coalesces around it. The Rightists want the Ethnostate, most of the rest of their policy ideas are in service of that. Project 2025 is their Bible. The Leftists want the end of American hegemony, and they don't care about the consequences. They view Palestine as a microcosm of every group of people America has ever oppressed. And so it is that every other policy platform must bend the knee to Palestine.

I think they know that this "end the American Empire and destroy NATO and any other American ally" fantasy is completely incompatible with "end capitalism and transition to a socialist luxury abundance economy," or maybe they don't.

But to them, Israel is not just a state that has and is committing human rights abuses (like many other states but whatever). It's the apotheosis of American influence in the Middle East, possibly the whole world. Just like the Rightists think there's a cabal of Jews funneling money to Democrats, encouraging mass immigration, and forcing Woke Ideology down everyone's throats to weaken the White Race and desecrate America's status as a Christian Nation, Leftists think there's a cabal of Israelis who are the last hurtle to ridding the world of violence, war, segregation, colonialism, even capitalism.

In fact, a lot of Leftists think climate change is tied to Palestine's liberation at this point.

But that's the thing, that anyone with a brain could tell you. Freeing Palestine, and I mean from the river to the sea, purging "Zionists" everywhere... will do nothing to fix climate change (considering all the Israeli technology that would be lost in the chaos and the probable desertification of the land, it would be a detriment to climate action), will do nothing to stop global capitalism, will do nothing to quell the rising tide of fascism. So when a politician is very close to becoming the mayor of the largest city in America, and he thinks like this? No, it's not a cute look. Thankfully, he'll have to contend with the entire governmental apparatus of local and state politics. He'll have to compromise, he'll have to take his job seriously and not just wield power to pursue his ideological purity crusade. And the Leftists will turn on him just like they turn on every Leftist who acquires power and is then forced to use it responsibly to, you know... govern?

They don't want a competent mayor, even one with new ideas that probably wouldn't pass a vote. They want a revolution. They want the free stuff they were promised, including a Free Palestine. In actuality, those are all just words, and when it comes to Israel and Palestine, when they can't get what they wish for snapped into existence, one of two things happens:

The more normal supporters are content to just use this all as virtue signaling. They will "own" Israelis on Twitter, stick out their tongues and say "Hahaha New York City has a pro Palestinian mayor! You tried to silence us!" and they will turn a blind eye to antisemitism of course. They never cared. Their only interest is in being sore winners and "punishing" the Democratic Party.

The deranged supporters will go out and do antisemitism, because they're frustrated that politics are politics and Zohran Mamdani can't arrest Netanyahu through the ether, can't shoot his eye lasers at Israel and disintegrate the entire IDF at once. So they'll keep protesting, keep harassing Jews, keep threatening Jews, keep assaulting Jews, and keep killing Jews. Mamdani will give the most milquetoast condemnations and try to keep the focus on Palestinians, and in the process tacitly encourage the deranged supporters to keep up the good work.

Shut the fuck up! 🤢 The Democratic Party stands for: economic opportunity for the poor (which a majority of Chasidim are btw), racial justice (which Jews have always been a part of, as recipients and activist allies), LGBT rights (which most Jews approve of), environmentalism (literally a core tenet of Judaism), pluralism/democracy/the rule of law (a thing that 99% of American Jews proudly support), I could go on? Like I really could.

This reminds me of an interview I saw years ago where a man was talking to Likkud voters and he interviewed a woman in Ashkelon and she kept saying "Bibi keeps us safe [from Hamas rockets]" and the interviewer asked "is there anything another party could do to sway your vote?" and she cut him off and said "nothing, nothing, only our safety matters."

But at least then, you know Bibi is also a Jew, and has a vested interest in the security of his fellow Jews. He may be a corrupt criminal and possibly a monster, but he will never be insincere about keeping his people safe. I can understand why Likkud voters can put everything else to the side if that's what they care about most. What the fuck does the Republican Party, the party that happily hosts Nazis and radical Christians who make supercessionists look like unhinged philosemites, offer to Jews? How are they keeping Jews safe when it's clear their real goal is to use Jews as a sword and shield to consolidate power and hurt their personal enemies?

Do you really want to be the cynical bargaining chip of delusional Christians? Isn't there more to living a Jewish life and being part of a Jewish community?

Trump's stupid ass deport Hamas students plan solves a very current problem that helps a few thousand Jewish college students, maybe it helps discourage the constant marches that incite harassment and property damage, literal hate crimes? But in the long run, especially with his "Shalom Mahmoud" shit, he is putting a target on Jews' backs and the Republican Party as an establishment cannot make a significant dent in American antisemitism, even if they were sincere. This is just a drop in the bucket. They welcomed the Tate brothers back to America with open arms??

They can't actually quell leftist antisemitism (they might make it worse) and they have zero interest in dissuading rightist antisemitism. The Democratic Party also couldn't do all this alone. And I'll grant, whatever side of the aisle you're on, you're going to inherently view the other side's messaging as disingenuous at best. Republicans think Democrats' messaging about the poor, racial equality, etc. is all virtue signaling and often "the real racism" etc.

You might not see how that for the majority of Jews who are on the left side of the aisle, they see the same thing when a Republican starts grandstanding about antisemitism. They're not likely to abandon the rest of their values for this illusion of safety. There are millions of Jews in Israel who refuse to vote for Likkud for similar reasons, and they're frankly in more danger and their right wing nutjob politicians actually want to keep them safe and actually can do something about it at the level of the State. Likkud doesn't punish Jews who are "disloyal." Why would American Jews give up even more for even less?
