Blog update for those of you who are still here lol.
Well, considering the most recent Demonade page was over four months ago, I think it’s safe to say I’m not gonna be doing any more this year.
There were quite a few factors involved in the reasoning behind my inactivity:
My grandmother's cat died during the summer. She was only three years old and it was out of nowhere so I sort of lost my motivation after it happened.
There are several Demonade characters I desperately want to redesign, including Demonade herself.
Currently, all of my artistic focus is going to my university/college portfolios, and a closed species I got obsessed with on another website.
I feel like Demonade’s structure got a bit scrambled after I developed her character more. Originally, way back like two years ago, she was a little caricature of me. The original idea for the comic was supposed to be about actual events portrayed in a comic format. When several people told me they found her eyes soulless and unsettling, I made her a demon and gave her a name and origin. I also developed several background characters. The only problem with this is that suddenly what I could do with the comic had to be limited to something I thought Demonade or another character would say and do in the situation. It was no longer a nameless self-insert in a relatable situation, so the comic’s format and my ability to come up with ideas became harder and harder to write naturally.
So, what I think I’m gonna do is put her on hold until I have the time to go through everything and fix it up. Rather than episodic, I might make a comic about her that has a narrative structure. And although I love the little round style I have for the characters, I don’t want it to be the main style. I’ll probably come up with a more serious style, and reserve the current one for minicomics, or a few special panels.
But yeah, no more Demonade for a while. I’d say expect her to make a well thought out comeback 2018/2019, though.
