Why adding new makers/studios has been put on hold
(few of the reasons which I am willing to share)
If I was about to abandon getfursu.it maintenance, the biggest reason to do so would be how much I feel uncomfortable about gatekeeping. This unfortunately needs to be done for the sake of keeping safety, and - pardon the expression - quality.
#1 When opening getfursu.it, you see a warning instructing you to verify the legitimacy of the maker you choose by yourself. I do not treat that as an excuse to allow all the scammers in. I have been doing some entry-level checks. The process could be improved. But this should not be a single-person effort, and especially in the times of increasing use of AI for generating fake content.
#2 Lack of clear rules qualifying for being added to getfursu.it is a problem for those who want to be added. There's a lot of aspects: makers portfolio, their quality, being allowed to advertise commissions, or premades only; sometimes they may not fit into fursuits category, or belong to https://fursuitmaterials.com/ instead. I've spent too much time in total wondering if the submission should be approved, or rejected, and why.
I was thinking about these issues, their causes, and how they could be solved, and a third non-trivial issue materialized:
#3 There is no designated place for cooperation and communication which would work also for non-tech people. There's no dedicated team of people which would be able to share several minutes a week, or more.
I will be trying to write more, and figure out some kind of direction to solving these issues. However, any feedback is welcome as early as now. Ideas, advice, and opinions are welcome!
Thank you for your attention. Boosting this post may also help!
