Jokes aside I can kinda see why the headcanon quote "sucks" and my personal reason is that one artist who kinda made weird art lowkey. I do NOT know they're name but they made so much Pay fanart (Pays apparently Patrycks prostitute twin which is crazy) and they made Paul more submissive which in my opinion WAHT THE HELLY. like I see him more as a hot, muscular man (who the fuck said that 💔)

No but seriously, I think the remake focuses more on toxicity (haha system of the down reference) of the relationship instead of "enemies to lovers" type shi ✌️ I don't really ship the two that much anymore cuz of harassment I've gotten before and I focus on underrated ships (hint: tom x patryck, edd x laurel, etc.) But this remake is so much better and I think it fits with people's perspective on the ship in 2026 than 2016 where they lowkey wanted love and smut.

Hey tumblr! Been seeing quite a few ableist Red Leader designs recently. We should know better not to equate disability and facial differences with moral failing/evilness. Real life disabled people and people with facial differences exist. They’re not horrible people. Someone is not horrible because they are disabled and someone is not disabled because they are horrible.

absolutely no hate towards crumb/cuptoast whatsoever, but ive seen a big rise of this ever since they joined the fandom. ive been a fan of crumb for years loooong before they started posting eddsworld fanart--and i still am a fan of their work. however, ive always felt iffy abt the negative implications with their red leader design.

this is not to say that my design is perfect in comparison, as i'm sure i can improve in some aspects in how i draw/portray him as well. but with the huge platform that crumb has, its been a bit of an issue to see an audience of impressionable people take inspo/directly reference their design of RL tord, then implying that "scars = evil."

the pork soda animation was visually stunning and they are a talented artist, but i wish they were a bit more mindful concerning their portrayal of RL tord.

Yeah but another thing tahts makes stuff like this hard with RL is hes just a bad guy, disability aside hes just a douche bag... as you said scars dont necessarily = evil... Tord's just not a great person by the time the RL arc comes

the issue comes with equating his disability/scars to being evil. yes, disability aside, tord isn't necessarily a good person during his RL arc. that's something that doesn't need to be sugarcoated.

but when you're using his scars as direct symbolism for him being evil, then that has a very different implication. for example, some people portray the non-affected side of his face as the "good/charming side," while the scarred side of his face is the "evil/deceitful" side. there are also times where people straight up called his scars "ugly," or purposefully exaggerated the way they're drawn to make him appear more menacing. obviously, those are negative connotations that directly have to do with his scars than just him as a character.

you can acknowledge RL's flaws/portray him as antagonist without using his scars as a symbolism for *why* he's bad.

Yeah, just because Tord has scars during the RL arc doesn't really give good reasons why he's bad. And i have a feeling once an actual episode comes out that focuses on how Tord became "evil" in the first place or they hopefully show his flaws. I genuinely did not know this was happening, hello?? 😭
