What is a Quarter-Life Crisis - realising you're in control of your life, realising you're in the driving seat of your future - lots of confusion, feeling lost, no direction, unmotivated, think your depressed, no energy, anxious about the future all the time, resent successful friends, jealous of people with direction -it's basically realising you have to pay rent lol Where it comes from / what triggers it - usually comes on in 2nd year of uni / apprenticeship / out of High School - start getting asked what you want to be, life gets harder, more responsibilities - you realise people have more drive, get more shit done, more motivated, deal with responsibilities really well, actually want to get up in the morning to smash goals, you, don't - Don’t like degree, dread a job in your field, most people don't get job in their field, don’t be like that - don't know what job you want, what field, so many options, stuck with impressing parents and friends, thinking what gives you security, what makes you look smart etc - don't know what you believe in, what your religion or ideals are, what is the universe, what am I, WHO am I? Is there an afterlife, if there was a heaven or hell, where would I be going? How to solve it – Learn about yourself (Talents, Ideals & Preferences) - Learn about yourself so you can align yourself with a career or purpose you believe in - What are your talents, what's your personality like, what are your strengths and weaknesses, what are your ideals, what are your fears what kind of things would you enjoy and hate in a job (working with people, working alone, helping people get to zero, or getting people at zero to climb their mountain), working with numeracy and finance or literacy and writing, being in charge like management, or being behind the scenes, being an entrepreneur or being comfortably employed in a nice job. Being a consultant, or a life long student (academics), working on the phone, in person or over the net? - Don't let fear immediately cross things off the list, it might take a year to find it again and you'll be pissed. Realising you've always wanted to be a musician but were afraid it wasn't lucrative. You have to get paid to play, it's the only way to smash the competition. You think if you hate finance you're going to compete with those who love it, who wake up and read their goals about finance and SMILE and get excited? But in reverse, you think anyone else can compete with you? If its your burning passion, all you think about and dream about, something you're qualified to teach atm without any qualifications, you think someone can get in your way? Fuck no. Think about what you do naturally, what do you naturally do in your spare time. In psychology they're called dominant functions. It's basically naming parts of the brain you naturally use most, this causes a lot of the variation among people, often referred to as “personality”.
When you use your dominant function it gives you ENERGY. The awesome flip side is, you're good at it. It's the first order call, the first thing you rely on. If I peg a ball at your face unexpectedly, your reflex is to catch it with your right hand, you CAN catch it with your left, but you won't naturally because it's not quite as good. Talents are the same, you're good at them AND you enjoy it. Yes there are things you don't enjoy but you're good at, but I bet your better at the things you enjoy!
Align what you do with what you enjoy, who you want to be, and what change you want to incur on this world and you'll be happy.
