Slow
My son's way faster than me on his scooter. And it's depressing. Oh well. Keep on pushing.

Riding Switch
More time on switch tonight. It's not so much that I'm riding Switch as it is that my body happens to be in Switch as the board travels forward... But there ARE moments of physical epiphany... Keep the front leg strong. The back foot doesn't have to be all the way on the tail (nose?). At this point it's not about speed; it's about form. Also, reconnected with an old friend tonight. Hopefully, we'll meet up for a skate soon.
Day Three- Switch and the Pebble
Started pushing switch today. The balance is way off. I don't know how to position my feet. Rolling is super awkward. And it was fun as hell. Also, rolled a pebble today and ended up on my back. Why are the smallest obstacles the ones that cause the most damage...? Deep, you 35 year old skater...
Day Two- Cruising and Ollie Video
Pushed from Rachel’s parents’ house to Ethan Allen Park. About half a mile. Chase rode his bike, and I discovered that riding my Blind board is way harder than riding my Penny style cruiser…
Sitting back into the push is still a little tricky and my front foot still strains to “grip” the board. I need to relax more.
Actually took video of me ollie'ing today, which is something I’ve never done before. Two things: first, my left foot needs to be further back on the tail to get more pop, and second, I need to bring my front foot to the front more and more quickly to level out the board.
It was interesting being able to see myself skate. I have a long way to go, but since I’m such a visual learner, hopefully the videos will help me progress more quickly.

Day One- Cruise Mile Square Park
Rolled around Mile Square Park for a bit. Well, just the parking lot, really... Focused on the ollie today. I have to remember to stay on top of the board and not lean back. I'll be rolling my OluKai Makani Lace until I get skate shoes. They're canvas so they're already taking a beating. I also need to remember to just get on the board as much as I can and ride around. Take it to check the mail. Take some laps of the lot right when I get home. Take it to the grocery store for small runs. A mistake I made in college was not skating to class. The more comfortable I am just running around the better. Watching on YouTube: Braille Skate, Vinnie Banh, Luis Mora, Epicly Later'd
