â People just believe what they see in the media â But , you know , as a fellow ghost , I donât think anyone is more skeptical of paranormal TV shows than I am .â If the places that those camera crews attended were even actually haunted , Tate canât imagine any spirits wanting to be filmed like theyâre some kind of zoo animal ; Most of the time , they just wanted to be left alone . Being dead came with this overbearing sense of tiredness . The ones who have been around for forever , like Nora or the nurses , just want to sleep . Tate could feel himself getting to that point in his confusing existence .  â I like your aunt ,â he commented idly .  â I mean , Iâve never talked to her , but she buys really good cookies and I donât think she notices that I take some sometimes âŠâ Or she doesnât care . Either way .
The haunted turned sideways , kicking his legs up over the arm of his chair . He wasnât sure why he was feeling so anxious â It had just been a while since he had a proper conversation with anyone other than Ben Harmon , and even then , it was all business . He was Benâs forever patient , not his friend . â Youâre like , twenty minutes from Hollywood now , dude . Everyone is a freak ,â he laughed .  â Just out of curiosity , what kind of jobs can you even get with a ⊠whatever you said , parapsychology degree ??â
â UGH, i HATE ghost hunters----- â hey there demons, itâs me, ya boy â  !! â  he quotes, falling into giggles.  norman feels better talking to the boy-- dead or not-- sitting across from him than he has in a very long time.  he had very few friends back in massachusetts and here he has even LESS.  like none, zip, absolutely zero.  but thereâs something about this manor house, with all itâs terrifying secrets, that makes him feel more at home than he has anywhere else.  it could just be because his aunt is his mirror image ( SOUL - wise, at least ).  and he BEAMS then, â you donât have to talk to her, sheâs like me, she knows youâre here.  shit, moira is like, her BEST friend.  she likes taking care of people who canât take care of themselves, weâre kinda like TWINS that way. â
norman has to give it to the kid---- hollywood WAS mostly made up of freaks, but not his kind of freak.  â thatâs true, but not everybody holds full conversations with themselves---- â he laughs and he notices the odd GIDDY feeling coming over him.  like the first time he ever made a FRIEND.  â well, i donât wanna actually get a job in the dedicated field, i wanna open my own paranormal research business.  NOT like ghost adventures or anything---- i wanna actually help people like you.  if you canât crossover, i wanna at least show the living that they donât have to be AFRAID.  i just wanna give you a friend, because i know what itâs like to be alone and INVISIBLE all the time.  â  heâs honestly never talked to ANYONE about what he wants to do after school,  but itâs just so easy right now, it comes pouring out of him.
â i - iâm norman, by the way, we didnât actually do introductions and all----  i know moira, and aunt p told me about the family that was here before she moved in; the HARMONâS, i donât think iâve seen them though.... â  he trails off, a chill running down his spine, shoulders moving back to straighten out slightly.  he clears his throat, going on:  â but i donât know your name,  i guess i donât know anyoneâs names, really, just the maid----- â
