I have been severely lacking purpose as of late.
Will I give myself one, then.
.
It’d taken hours of bickering and stomping out and then stomping back in and far too long moments of silence, filled with chains of ‘what if’s’ and lack of trust until the pair had reached an agreement. Now sorted, with just the slightest bits of blossoming purple and blue climbing up Calogera’s shoulders, they sat watching each other with razor vision, Carlino from the bed and his counterpart sitting just on the edge where bedroom met balcony, doors flung wide open.Â
The curtains blew, white silk tendrils hiding her and then revealing her again, just in case she decided to run but it was nearly too late now. She still could but she wouldn’t go far. They were drawn together now. At least further than before.
They would split half and half, as Carlino would frequently do when he was in control. Something able to be seen, to touch, to feel, to experience as reality but with all the charms of muted sensation on the part of the person existing in half.
Of course, the last thing Carlino would want to do was complain ( he honestly didn’t think he’d get nearly this far ) but the intimidating challenge of locking fingers with Calogera and moving through the process mutually seemed a mammoth task.Â
"… Calo."
He moved, sliding off the bed and ever so quietly approached, steps gentle like prey near predator.
She frowned in turn, her first movement in just under an hour.
"I really really would prefer not doing this."
"I co-could have guessed that. … But for me?"
Again, a deeper frown, this time as Carlino moved to sit down in front of her, their knees touching.
"Not good enough motivation."
"You agreed to it? Y-you sort of have t-to do it now. … You promised."
"Promises are for children."
"You are y-younger than I."
…
This time, she laughed, looking up through her thick main of warm curls that she’d finally begun to brush.
"… Age does not often define maturity."
"It does he-here. Honour carries out through a—- all age lines, no ma-matter how old. … You swore you would."
"… As you swore you would return here? With whoever you choose or even alone?"
He nodded, extending long fingers, glove free.
"I d-do not ever go back on my word."
Again, hesitation, her hand lifting just the slightest bit off the floor where it was resting before it fell again. They’d already gone over this for hours but actually doing so was absolutely horrifying— This was her time, her time alone-
"… I hate this. And you, most of the time."
His fingers crept forward, just barely resting over hers.
"Please."
…
Her nod was very very slow.
Promises were so terribly important after all.Â
Ju-just for a little while.
Just a little while?
Sci, and I won't ma-make you-- make you go all the way away again- We will spl-split it half and half.
I waited for years.
... I know. But ar-are you not lonely? So unused to being al-alone without me.
You travel. ... I stayed. I was kind to you.
Ma-maybe. But you st-still did not answer. Are you not lonely?
... I am.
Just ha-half. Just enough t-to see in colour. And feel.
You... Ask a lot, bagasciónn-a.
I can never leave you, even wh-when I want to. This is st-still our home. And you can always re-return. We can be equal this ti-time-
... It'll hurt.
I know-
And I might have to kill you.
Like y-you could -!
... Ha. A mæ rispòsta a l'e magâra.
there will be no seducing.
I'm not the same as him, am I?
I have not the silence or the patience or the love or the gentleness that he did
And I do not speak in bursts of affection-- I--
... I am not him-
to silence you i stuff wads of flower petals down your throat
block your teeth with gold coins as old as paving stone
suffocate you with the waters of the coast until your lungs are overtaken
and finally i take your hands and chain you to the fields in your own stolen jewelry.

This woman wasn’t exactly new, but Calogera couldn’t in good conscience say that she’d met her previous to today. Most things passed word of mouth to her in an excited mess of Ligurian from Carlino, and she’d vaguely heard names whenever he left to see Leon’s family.
Calogera, however, had never really… Met anyone in Leon’s family, never mind the woman in front of her face to face, and she picked nervous at the tattered skin on her shoulders.
"… Ciâo. Do you know me."
《The sight of this girl made her absolutely worried. Qianxun didn’t know whether or not to be afraid or find some sort of… medical aid? Or assistance? Who knew. But she remembered one thing: always stay calm in these kinds of situations.》
Um… I can’t say that I do. No, not at all. You don’t look familiar in the slightest. Am I supposed to know you? Are you a relative of a friend or some sort?
… All I know is that you look rather, er— Are you okay? Do you need a doctor? You’re quite the concerning kind of person—
《Oh dear, it probably would have been best of her not to ask so many questions, wouldn’t it?》
Usually, Calogera's greetings didn't end up so quickly in laughter, or at least she'd been finding in her latest adventures into the outside world. Far too much screaming and trembling and this and that--
However, this particular time, she'd dissolved into giggles at the spew of questions, covering her mouth with the back of a gloved hand as she grinned. And barely a few seconds in! Yes, she liked this much better.
"No, no. These healed a very long time ago. If they were still fresh, I couldn't do this-"
And she grabbed onto her right shoulder and pressed down into the red fused flesh, the skin sinking ever so slightly from lack of structure to support it.
"Do not worry! My name is Calogera. Seborga."
