The Living Mummy. Ambrose Pratt. Illustrations by Louis D. Fancher. New York: Frederick A. Stokes, 1910. First edition.
Romantic adventure novel set in Egypt involving spiritualism, the occult and black magic. Although including an ambulatory mummy obedient to an evil mastermind and demonstrating a predilection for strangling his victims, the story is too rife with embarrassing melodramatic sappiness, along with racism and sexism, to be effective.

Senet Game of Tutankhamun
Senet was an ancient Egyptian board game popular with all classes. Archaeological evidence reveals that senet was played by both royalty (as demonstrated by this elaborate ivory set) and commoners (crude boards scratched in rock). The course of the game was thought to parallel the course of the deceased through the underworld.
