I think Zoe Saldana’s attitude toward the “movie” Emilia Perez showcases how no matter your race or gender if you are from an opresive country you are ACTIVELY part of the problem.
*RANT by a Mexican woman who actually speaks Spanish and has seen how cartel violence affects her country*
Zoe never spoke up against or in favor of the movie, while the director and Karla burnt at the public stake she remained silent but as soon as she had her price suddenly she is proud of working in that garbage. Price she didn’t deserve btw

It was never about women, it’s insensitive towards women, towards the mothers going out looking for their missing children everyday, the girls, sisters, daughters and mothers that lost her life because of cartel violence or because they got too close while looking for their missing families, the actual lawyers and collectives working for women’s rights. She should be ashamed because as a woman with those simple words she is undermining the sacrifices these women went trough
It was never about women, No, it was about a pathetic French man trying to make a profound movie bastardizing a tragedy that affects a whole country cause he thought that making it about “ a poor country in need of saving” would make him look smart while using what he considered a “diverse cast” NEWSFLASH you all only looked like insensible colonizers.
Imagine: a French Man , A Spaniard, and two gringas speaking about how Mexico should feel
Did you know all of those countries tried (and in some cases succeeded) to invade Mexico at least Once?
My point is, I don’t care about your race, gender or sexual orientation if you are from a country ACTIVELY oppressing others you are part of the problem
It’s not enough being “neutral” you have to take an active role, or you are just as bad, even if it’s just not consuming a product, not interacting with someone, speaking up at a family dinner THERES ALWAYS something to do.
Zoe, should stick to roles were she is funny or kicks ass as an alien, she should stay away from social topics until she educates herself.
The so called director whose name I don’t care about and Karla Sofia, should retire and work on something else, no talent in them only racism and delusions of greatness.
And Selena, please engage in Latino culture, learn the language, help out now more than ever, don’t use the Latino badge only when convenient, or you will be part of the problem too
And my rant is not about the movie, Camila already answered to that with an iconic short film. And all of Latin America is united against that garbage, even major tv channels here in Mexico covered the Oscars openly mocking that movie.
It is about how you can be a woman of color, a Latina, a trans woman and still be an oppressor, we all have a privilege we have to acknowledge and use in favor of those who don’t have it, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN.
That’s all, I’m tired of living next to a country that promotes all these, worst neighbors ever.
