I wonder if Zeno ever comforted Victor as he was going through the slow and likely agonizing mutations? Regardless if Gideon was already a tall man, he would be going through hell. Maybe given Zeno's lab upbringing he experienced pain issues himself and would simply hold Victor as the doctor struggled through it. It is canon Zeno has that engraved lighter so who really knows. But I like to think he did.
