so, our party was traveling in a mountainous area and the DM mentioned there was a goat a little ways away, just a little scenery building. the party immediately spent the next (real-life) 20 minutes insight checking the goat, detecting magic on the goat, questioning the goat, ect. eventually the sorcerer ended up killing and eating the goat. DM was very exasperated.

I was also part of a campaign where the ‘worldbuilding’ of the kids playing in front of a house when we got to a village turned out to be the actual end bosses of the campaign and half of our party died because we didn’t eavesdrop on children that were just ‘playing with marbles and drawing [the map of their dungeon] in the sand’ so FYI.

You bring this on yourself.

We can’t tell which ones are just scenery and which ones are gonna fuck with us and any D&D player who has been through more than one campaign knows not to take risks.

A couple things here…

1. How do you suppose the 1960 conservatives would react to the idea of a President who has close ties to the leader of Russia? What would they say about the fact that so many of his followers are literal Nazis?

2. If AOC appeared to be a lunatic to 1960 Americans, it would be because the principle thing she advocates for–the 70% marginal tax rate–was policy at that time. So she’d be running around going “Marginal tax rates should be 70%!” and everyone would go “…yes? They are? Shouldn’t you, a sitting member of Congress, know that?”
