samantha could hear the football players talking - one of them telling his friends the tale of the wild animal he’d had a run-in with the night before. he told them of how the creature ran toward him and attacked him - it tried to bite him with it’s huge, drooling mouth, but he managed to get the upper hand and dole out a little violence. exaggerating a bit, she was sure, but she couldn’t actually say since her memories were blurry at best. samantha was just thankful that a. she hadn’t killed him, and b. he didn’t know it was her.

when the boy looked up and happened to catch her gaze from afar, she felt like a deer in the headlights. her eyes widened and she turned to hurry away, only to knock right into oz and drop the notebooks she had been holding. “ oh - oh, i’m sorry, ” she muttered, squatting down to pick them up.
