This city stinks. None of the shopkeepers will accept Threo’s offer of food in exchange for requests involving physical labor, she can’t find a job board, and she doesn’t usually carry money around, so how is she supposed to feed herself?

Finally, the strain of walking becomes too much, and Thro collapses, clutching onto the ankle of whoever’s unfortunate enough to be walking nearby with an iron grip.

“Ohhh, I’m starvinggggg, I haven’t eaten in a day… I need… cake… or dragon steak… I’m not super picky right now…”

 Kenna wasn’t really a fan of this city either, nor cities in general. The lack of job board and the general feeling of constraint was unpleasant and made days feel aimless. She could garden, and spend time in the parks, but that wasn’t much of anything in the way of productivity, and it was boring.

 But at least she knew how to keep herself fed.

 Gently she reached down and pinched the index finger of the stranger grabbing her ankle, attempting to pry them off. Reason #9420 why she hated cities.

 “Let go.” She commanded gently. “I will help you find food.”

 “Redbean... That’s an odd nickname,” she replied quickly. As he released her hand, she returned it to her staff, gripping the wood with a little less tension than before. “I’ve not heard of Ethea, but it sounds lovely.” If distant lands were something she was destined for, she would much rather be somewhere closer to what home was like.

 “I am, very, very new... I don’t really understand... Any of it.” Her ears droop slightly. “It’s easier to feel entirely out of place when there’s hardly a tree in sight. The... Potted ones along the sidewalk just look sad.”

 “What the  hell.” He had checked the newspapers, the tv’s. The reports. There is nothing here that reminded him of where he truly he, as if not accepting the reality that he is in another city all together. Without his consent.

 She didn’t entirely mean to eavesdrop (at least, that’s what she would say if asked), but the cursing and thinly veiled rage were a little hard to miss. The city was so wide and everything so thoroughly new that she’d had little choice but to accept that this was not home, but some were seemingly more accustomed to this kind of busy life.

 She missed the ship.

 “Nor would a stiff drink, but it would certainly be more welcome.”

 Kenna gripped her quarterstaff so hard her knuckles were white, hoping that if she held tight it would hide the shaking. She knew she probably looked as out of place as she felt, given that she could immediately tell that even her clothes were far different from everyone else’s, but she also felt like if she swapped her cloak for anything that she might break. 

 But standing there like a fool wasn’t helping her either.

 “Excuse me. Um…” She realized only after opening her mouth that she didn’t have much to say. “… Hello.” Brilliant.

You hear a soft voice call out to you.  Eyes peering at a young woman, whose hand taut from gripping a quarter staff maybe similar to the one you had caught your sight, you noticed two things: one her manner of dress was very similar to what you might find in Ethea and two she looked lost. A small smile appear on your lips as you hold a hand out. 

“Hello miss. I hope you don’t mind me asking but uh…Are you too from a land of magic and steel? ”

 The face was unfamiliar, but the kindness was more than welcome. She’s quick to take the hand extended to her, nodding and breaking into a wide smile. Unfamiliar, but friendly. 

 “Yes! It’s... Obvious, isn’t it?” Her tone is a bit sheepish, gaze flickering over her outfit before giving him a once-over; he looked like someone from the Eastern islands. “So you come from somewhere similar? Where? Ah, what’s your name?”
